Mumbai: As many as 357 nomination papers were filed on Monday, the fifth day of the process for the BMC polls. The total number of nominations received so far has reached 401, said officials. As many as 1,294 nomination forms were distributed on Monday, from the offices of the 23 returning officers in the city.The distribution of forms began on Dec 23, in line with the schedule announced by the State Election Commission. On the first day, 4,165 nomination forms were distributed, followed by 2,844 forms on Dec 24, 2,040 forms on Dec 26, and 1,294 on Dec 27. With Monday’s figures, the total number of nomination forms distributed stands at 11,568. Tuesday is the final day for the distribution and submission of nomination papers.Ward-wise data shows an uneven response across the city. The K-West (Andheri) ward recorded the highest number of nominations received so far at 29, followed by P-North (Malad) and N (Ghatkopar) wards with 29 and 23 nominations, respectively. Several wards, including C, D, and G-South, saw relatively fewer nominations filed despite a steady distribution of forms.Election officials expect a rush of candidates on the final day, a pattern typically seen in civic polls. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on Dec 31. Jan 2, 2026 is the last date for withdrawal of nomination forms.
