Mumbai: The Congress on Thursday began interviewing candidates aspiring to contest the BMC election on the party ticket, aiming to conclude the process in a couple of days before finalising the candidate list. A total of 950 applications expressed a desire to contest the election. Mumbai has 227 seats and the Congress expected to form an alliance with some smaller parties, with whom it would share seats.A large number of aspiring corporators, ex-corporators and their kin gathered at the Mumbai regional Congress office near Azad Maidan for interviews that went on till late evening. City Congress chief Varsha Gaikwad, along with senior party leaders, conducted the interviews.
