Gurgaon: A Class 11 student of a city school died by suicide at his Sector 51 residence on Thursday evening.Abhiraj Singh Ahlawat (16) was the only child of his parents, police said, adding his father is a science teacher in a Nuh govt school, while his mother is a homemaker.
Police said no suicide note or any material that “could give insight into the circumstances” was recovered. An officer said police have been speaking to the family “to understand if the boy faced academic or personal pressure”.According to police, Abhiraj locked himself inside his room. “When his mother went to check on him, she found the door bolted from inside. Unable to get a response, she contacted her husband, who rushed home and tried to open the door. The family then alerted the police,” an officer said. A call was made around 7pm, following which a team from Sector 50 police station reached the spot. Abhiraj was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The boy’s father told police the family had no complaints, nor did they suspect anyone’s involvement. He told the police that Abhiraj didn’t express distress or indicate problems in recent days.
