Thane: A court hearing in the 2008 railway recruitment case involving Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray was adjourned on Monday due to the absence of the investigating officer. The court has now scheduled the next hearing for Jan 8. According to investigators, the incident dates back to the Railway Recruitment Board examination held in 2008, during which MNS workers allegedly targeted out-station candidates from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The party claimed that local Maharashtrian youths were being overlooked for central railway jobs, triggering protests across the state. The agitation turned violent at Kalyan railway station, where several candidates were injured and clashes broke out between protesters and the police. Raj Thackeray, along with several party workers, was booked for offences related to rioting, unlawful assembly, and obstructing govt servants from discharging their duties.
