Mumbai: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested senior inspector Sanjeev Tawde and sub-inspector Dyaneshwar Jutre of Kurar police station while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from an advocate.According to the 35-year-old complainant, an applicant had filed a financial fraud complaint against him, while his transgender brother had lodged a complaint alleging sexual exploitation.The complainant claimed that Tawde summoned him to the police station and demanded Rs 3 lakh bribe to avoid legal action, and he paid him Rs 2 lakh. Later, on February 2, Jutre allegedly demanded the remaining Rs 1 lakh through the complainant’s representative to settle both cases. Unwilling to pay further, the complainant approached the ACB office on February 3.After verification of the complaint, a trap was laid on Wednesday and Jutre was allegedly caught accepting the Rs 1 lakh bribe. During subsequent searches, Rs 6.3 lakh in cash and three mobile phones were seized. ACB officials also initiated searches at the residences of the two accused. Last year, ACB had arrested senior inspector Chandrakant Sarode (52) and sub-inspector Rahul Waghmode (37) of Wadala Truck Terminal police station in a bribery case linked to a community hall dispute, while senior inspector Baburao Deshmukh of Shivaji Nagar police station was caught allegedly accepting a Rs 1 lakh bribe.
