GURGAON: Police have arrested two men in connection with the alleged gang rape and assault of a 25-year-old woman who was thrown out of a moving van on the Gurgaon–Faridabad road late Monday night, leaving her with severe facial injuries that required 12 stitches. The van, Maruti Suzuki eco was seized by police.
According to police, the woman was held against her will for nearly three hours as the van moved through deserted stretches of Faridabad amid dense fog. Following a complaint filed by the victim’s family, an FIR was registered at Kotwali police station. As per the complaint, the woman had left her house around 8.30pm on Monday after an argument with her mother and informed her sister that she was going to a friend’s place. She was expected to return within a few hours but got delayed and eventually started back close to midnight. With no public transport available at that hour, she accepted a lift in a van occupied by two men. Instead of heading towards her home, the vehicle was allegedly driven towards the Gurgaon–Faridabad road and taken beyond the Hanuman temple on the stretch. The woman told police that she cried for help, but due to the cold, heavy fog and sparse traffic, no one came to her aid. The family alleged that both men took turns to rape her during the ordeal. Around 3am on Tuesday, the woman was allegedly pushed out of the van near Mula Hotel at Raja Chowk in SGM Nagar. Despite her injuries, she managed to contact her sister, who rushed her to a hospital. Though doctors advised shifting her to a Delhi hospital, the family admitted her to a private facility in Faridabad.
