NEW DELHI: History was made in Bali on Tuesday when Indonesia cricketer Gede Priandana pulled off a feat never seen before in T20 Internationals, becoming the first bowler to take five wickets in a single over. The landmark moment came during the opening T20I against Cambodia and remains unmatched across both men’s and women’s international cricket.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. Priandana struck immediately, dismissing Shah Abrar Hussain, Nirmaljit Singh and Chanthoeun Rathanak off successive deliveries to complete a hat-trick in the first three deliveries itself.

There was a brief pause in the drama with a dot ball, before the Indonesian seamer finished the job by removing Mongdara Sok and Pel Vennak to bring the innings to a close. Cambodia managed just one run in the over — a wide — as Priandana’s burst with the ball sealed a commanding 60-run victory for Indonesia. Before this, several leading bowlers had gone close to achieving the milestone. Lasith Malinga, Rashid Khan, Curtis Campher and Jason Holder had each taken four wickets in a single over in T20Is, but the fifth had always remained out of reach. Priandana’s effort now places him alone in the record books. The rare feat of five wickets in an over had previously been recorded only twice in men’s T20 cricket, both at domestic level. Al-Amin Hossain was the first to do so in Bangladesh’s Victory Day T20 Cup in 2013–14, while Abhimanyu Mithun repeated it for Karnataka during the 2019–20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.Earlier in the match, Indonesia posted a strong total, built around a superb unbeaten 110 off 68 balls from wicketkeeper-batter Dharma Kesuma, who struck eight fours and six sixes. Priandana opened the batting alongside Kesuma but was dismissed for six off 11 deliveries.
