Mumbai: IIT Bombay has unveiled a new, modern 800-capacity dining facility on its campus. Located in Hostel 4, currently undergoing reconstruction, the dining hall is now the largest on the Powai campus. The project has been made possible through the contribution of alumnus Dr Pramod Chaudhari, founder and chairman of Praj Industries Ltd, who resided in the same hostel during his undergraduate years.In recognition of his lifelong engagement and enduring commitment to the institute, IIT Bombay has named the newly reconstructed facility in his honour. As part of its broader transformation agenda, the institute is making significant investments to enhance the student living and learning experience by recognising that holistic education extends beyond the classroom. In a statement, the institute mentioned modern hostels, dining facilities, and community spaces play a critical role in nurturing student well-being, collaboration and a strong sense of belonging. Chaudhari has been contributing towards advancing IIT-B mission over the years by supporting initiatives. tnn
