In Mumbai, BMC sends assistant municipal commissioner on one-month compulsory leave | Mumbai News

Mumbai: BMC has sent assistant municipal commissioner Mahesh Patil, in-charge of S ward (Bhandup), on a one-month compulsory leave following allegations of “improper investment” in a Bandra redevelopment project. In his written complaint to the chief minister, state director general of police, and Mumbai police commissioner, an NRI resident alleged that Patil had advised him to invest in the project in cash in exchange for substantial returns. He further alleged that he was told that investors who paid 100% of the amount in advance would receive higher profits.A senior BMC official said an inquiry into the allegations is underway, hence Patil has been sent on leave to ensure that the probe is not disrupted.Denying the allegations, Patil called them “false, baseless, and fabricated”. He added that he has sent a legal notice to the complainant asking him to provide evidence, and has not received a response so far. Patil has previously served as assistant commissioner in P-North (Malad), E (Byculla), and F-South (Parel) wards.
