Mumbai: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) extended emergency assistance to a 75-year-old passenger who fell ill during a tour to Vietnam, officials said.The tourist, developed a sudden health complication while abroad. The IRCTC tour management team immediately facilitated his admission to Tam Anh Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, where he remained under medical supervision for two days.
IIRCTC’s Group General Manager (west zone) Gaurav Jha said, “Our team coordinated with hospital authorities, ensured treatment and provided logistical support during the period of hospitalisation. After his condition improved and attending doctors declared him fit to travel, Dey returned to India on Feb 8, 2026.”Officials said the prompt response reflected IRCTC’s policy of providing round-the-clock assistance and medical support to passengers travelling on its domestic and international tour packages.Separately, IRCTC West Zone recently executed its largest international MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) tour, organising a seven-night, eight-day trip to Vietnam for 162 ONGC veterans in association with the Anubhooti Group, Kharghar.The project generated revenue of Rs 1.95 crore and involved nearly two months of planning, including destination scouting, vendor coordination and logistics management. The group was divided into two batches — 106 guests departed on Feb 2, 2026, and 56 guests departed on Feb 4, 2026 — accompanied by designated tour managers.IRCTC set up a virtual command centre to monitor the tour in real time across time zones. The itinerary covered Ho Chi Minh City and included an overnight cruise at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Halong Bay.
