MUMBAI: Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) has announced the launch of DigiYatra at its facility, nearly two months after the start of commercial operations.In a statement issued on Friday, the private airport operator said NMIA has joined the Civil Aviation Ministry’s nationwide DigiYatra rollout along with five other airports across the country.The inauguration was held remotely, with the event streamed live inside the terminal for passengers.
To mark the occasion, three passengers ceremonially used the DigiYatra e-gates and cut a ribbon at the biometric entry points.According to NMIA, DigiYatra uses facial recognition technology to facilitate contactless and paperless processing at airport checkpoints, helping reduce waiting time while ensuring strong data privacy and security safeguards.(With agency inputs)
