Mumbai: A special trial court on Wednesday stayed, until Feb 23, an open-dated warrant issued against Kumar Pillai, who was arrested from Singapore, as police sought clarification on whether to repatriate him to Singapore or Hong Kong.The designated Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court Judge Satyanarayan R Navander earlier this week directed the Mumbai police to take steps to repatriate Pillai to his home country, Hong Kong, following his acquittal in all cases for which he was originally extradited.Pillai, originally an Indian citizen, migrated to Hong Kong, acquiring its citizenship, but police arrested him in 2016 in Singapore after a 2012 Red Corner Notice.On Wednesday, the prosecution sought clarification on whether to repatriate him to Hong Kong or Singapore; hence, his lawyer sought a stay on the open-dated warrant issued last month until the matter is heard on Feb 23.
