ULHASNAGAR: Team Omie Kalani party has announced that its 32 candidates will contest the upcoming Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation elections on the Shiv Sena’s ‘bow and arrow’ symbol. The development comes amid a clear political split in the city, with the Shiv Sena and the BJP set to contest the civic polls separately. At the local level, the Shiv Sena has formed an alliance with Team Omie Kalani (TOK), led by Omie Kalani, son of former MLA Pappu Kalani, and the Sai Party. According to the seat-sharing arrangement, the Shiv Sena will contest 35 seats, TOK 32 seats, and the SAI Party 11 seats.TOK’s election in-charge Jamnu Puraswani while holding press conference said the decision to fight the elections on a single symbol was taken to avoid confusion among voters. “With three parties in the alliance, different election symbols could create confusion. Therefore, all candidates will contest on the Shiv Sena symbol,” he explained.TOK chief Omie Kalani clarified that contesting on the Shiv Sena symbol does not mean the parties will merge after the elections. “We may fight the elections on the bow and arrow symbol, but after winning, the TOK group will remain separate,” he said.Meanwhile, following the breakdown of the Shiv Sena–BJP alliance in Ulhasnagar, the BJP has also begun distributing tickets to candidates for all 78 seats in the civic body.Omie Kalani added that our party has decided to contest the elections on the Shiv Sena symbol with the objective of ensuring overall development of Ulhasnagar city.
