GURGAON: Two men were arrested on Thursday for allegedly shooting at a 25-year-old woman after she refused a marriage proposal. The incident took place in the early hours of Dec 20 near a club where she worked.
Police said they received information about an injured woman admitted to Max Hospital. A team from the MG Road police post, under the DLF Sector 29 police station, reached the hospital and obtained her medico-legal report (MLR). Doctors declared the woman unfit to give a statement. Her husband, who had rushed from their home in Najafgarh, submitted a written complaint. According to the complaint, on Dec 19, the woman, Kalpana (25), had gone to work as usual. Around 1am, the next day, she called her husband to inform him that Tushar, from Sangam Vihar in Delhi, had shot her in the stomach and she was being taken to the hospital. The husband told police that Tushar had been pressuring Kalpana to marry him. Being married, she repeatedly refused his proposal. About a month ago, he visited the couple’s locality and created a ruckus. He even fired at their house. A case was registered at DLF Sector 29 police station. Teams from crime branch Sector 40 and Police Post MG Road worked jointly and arrested two accused on Dec 25 from Baraut in Uttar Pradesh. They were identified as Tushar alias Jonty (25) and Shubham alias Johnny (24).“Tushar told us that he befriended Kalpana around six months ago and wanted to marry her. On the night of the incident, he reached the club with Shubham and once again asked her to marry him. Kalpana refused as usual. He then shot at her with a pistol,” an officer said.
