ULHASNAGAR: The draft voter list for the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation polls has the name of a 57-year-old woman listed simply as ‘Maharashtra,’ with her husband’s name also recorded as ‘Maharashtra,’ while no surname has been mentioned. The name was highlighted by Shiv Sena (UBT)’s district president Dhananjay Bodare on Thursday and is from Ward no. 19, voter list number 324 at serial number 21, he said, alleging manipulation of voter data and claiming the voter list had bogus and duplicate entries.MNS district president Bandu Deshmukh stated that such names appear to have been deliberately inserted.On Wednesday, politicians from the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) met municipal commissioner Manisha Avhale and submitted a formal complaint pointing out multiple errors in the draft list. Bodare said many voters’ names have been incorrectly shifted to other wards. It has been alleged that over 500 names of residents from Ambernath-Palegaon were found included in Ward 19 and 20 of Ulhasnagar’s list. – Pradeep Gupta
