Meta’s billion-dollar Superintelligence Lab is hiring in Singapore: Read Chief AI officer Alexandr Wang’s post

Meta Superintelligence Lab (MSL), the billion-dollar team that Mark Zuckerberg created to take on Google and OpenAI in artificial intelligence (AI), is hiring. Alexandr Wang, the head of the team and Chief AI officer of Meta, has announced that the company is hiring for its team in Singapore. This comes hours after the social media giant acquired Manus AI, a Singapore-based company working on AI agents.“MSL is hiring in Singapore! We already have some amazing researchers and engineers there, buoyed now by the 100-strong Manus team, and we’re growing fast,” Wang said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).“Feel free to DM with a resumé if interested!,” he added.

MSL puts 600 employees on non working notice period

In November this year, Wang announced that the company is laying off approximately 600 positions from its Meta Superintelligence Labs division, and those employees were placed on a non-working notice period.“By reducing the size of our team, fewer conversations will be required to make a decision, and each person will be more load-bearing and have more scope and impact,” Wang wrote in his memo to staff members, as per Business Insider and CNBC. The company said that affected employees would receive 16 weeks of severance plus two additional weeks for every completed year of service, minus the notice period.

“It’s never an easy decision to say goodbye to colleagues. These are talented people who have worked extremely hard and contributed to our Al effort. Anyone in North America whose role was impacted has already been notified. Those who may be impacted in EMEA have been notified and remain subject to consultation,” Wang said.“This by no means signals any decrease in investment. In fact, we will continue to hire industry-leading Al-native talent. Our goal is to enable MSL to move faster. We remain excited about the models we are training, our ambitious compute plans, and the products we are building, and I’m confident in our path to superintelligence,” he added.

Fans go gaga as Sarfaraz Khan hammers explosive century against Goa in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26

In a high-voltage Elite Group C clash of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 at Jaipuria Vidyalaya Ground in Jaipur, Mumbai posted a mammoth 444/8 after Goa captain Deepraj Gaonkar opted to field first on Wednesday. The match, part of the domestic 50-over spectacle, saw Mumbai’s batters unleash fury on a batting-friendly surface, setting a towering target that left fans buzzing online. Social media erupted with admiration for Sarfaraz Khan‘s masterclass, as clips of his towering sixes went viral, hailing him as a white-ball beast knocking on national selectors’ doors.

Sarfaraz Khan’s power-packed century against Goa

Sarfaraz stole the show, bludgeoning 157 runs off just 75 balls, laced with 9 fours and a staggering 14 sixes at a strike rate of 209.33, propelling Mumbai past 400. Walking in at 101/2 after Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s gritty 46 and Musheer Khan‘s 60, Sarfaraz reached his ton in 56 balls, treating Goa’s bowlers like ragdolls amid sparse support from partners. He fell in the 42nd over to Darshan Misal, caught by sub fielder Shubham Desai, but not before rocketing Mumbai to 340/6, his aggressive onslaught including a six to hit 150 on the 72nd ball.

Goa’s attack, featuring Arjun Tendulkar (0/78) and Vasuki Koushik (2/60), leaked runs freely, with Misal’s 3/98 and Lalit Yadav‘s 2/93 proving costly. Fans flooded platforms with “Sarfaraz for India ODIs” chants, praising his timing and power ahead of the New Zealand series, as his knock echoed his prior domestic exploits like 55 vs Uttarakhand.

Mumbai posts a mammoth target against Goa in VHT 2025-26

Mumbai came out swinging and never really took their foot off the accelerator. The innings began at a furious pace, with the openers rattling along to 31 without loss before Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s brief stay ended on 11. Jaiswal then steadied things alongside Musheer, the pair calmly rebuilding and pushing the score past 100 for the first wicket. Even after Musheer’s departure, Mumbai were well placed at 194 for three, setting the stage for a full-blown assault. Sarfaraz took charge from there, turning the innings on its head with a burst of fearless strokeplay that sent the run rate soaring.

The wickets of Siddhesh Lad and skipper Shardul Thakur fell in quick succession, but they did little to halt the charge as Mumbai surged to 281 for five. Once Sarfaraz departed, Hardik Tamore ensured the momentum stayed intact, smashing a rapid 53 off just 28 balls. He found useful support from Shams Mulani and an aggressive Tanush Kotian, while Tushar Deshpande chipped in at the end. Extras also played their part as Mumbai piled on the runs, eventually closing at a daunting 444 for eight in their 50 overs. Goa now face a stiff chase of 445, as Mumbai strengthen their grip at the top of Group C with a perfect run so far, while Goa remain second after solid wins earlier in the tournament.

The government also noted that safer alternatives to the said drug were available. The ban has been imposed with immediate effect under Section 26A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, after consultation with the Drugs Technical Advisory Board. On the same day, the ministry issued a separate notification proposing amendments to the Drugs Rules, 1945. ‘Leader of propaganda’: BJP slams Rahul Gandhi over ‘dead economy’ remark; cites India as 4th largest economy | India News

'Leader of propaganda': BJP slams Rahul Gandhi over 'dead economy' remark; cites India as 4th largest economy

NEW DELHI: BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla on Wednesday hit out at leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his earlier remarks describing India as a “dead economy”, calling him a “leader of propaganda” after India overtook Japan to become the world’s fourth-largest economy.Speaking to ANI, Poonawalla accused Rahul Gandhi of spreading what he termed “malicious propaganda” against the country and said recent economic data had exposed the Congress leader’s claims.“Rahul Gandhi, who is an expert at making anti-India statements, goes to Berlin and spreads malicious propaganda against India, sometimes against the army, sometimes against constitutional institutions, against Sanatan and economic power, has now faced reality today. Rahul Gandhi used to say that India’s economy is dead, India’s economy and production are dead; this is a leader of propaganda, not a leader of opposition,” Poonawalla said.He added that India’s economic position had improved sharply over the past decade. “India’s economy has now reached the fourth position, while in Manmohan Singh’s era, it was at the 11th position. Today, we have overtaken Japan. In the next two and a half to three years, we will become the third-largest economy. He should stop defaming India and spreading malicious propaganda against India,” Poonawalla said.Rahul Gandhi had earlier, in July 2025, echoed then US President Donald Trump’s remark calling India’s economy “dead”. “Yes, he is right, everybody knows this except the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister. Everybody knows that the Indian economy is a dead economy. I am glad that President Trump has stated a fact. The entire world knows that the Indian economy is a dead economy,” Gandhi had said at the time.According to a press release issued by the Centre, India’s Gross Domestic Product has crossed USD 4.18 trillion, placing it as the fourth-largest economy globally. The government said India is expected to climb further in the global rankings in the coming years. The release also noted that India’s real GDP expanded by 8.2 per cent in the second quarter of the financial year 2025-26, marking a six-quarter high. This followed growth of 7.8 per cent in the first quarter and 7.4 per cent in the fourth quarter of FY 2024-25, pointing to resilient domestic demand despite a challenging global trade environment.Meanwhile, Congress leader Rashid Alvi questioned the credibility of the GDP figures, alleging that the government had altered the calculation method.“It is completely wrong and baseless. Even today, the GDP data that is provided shows that we are the fourth or fifth largest economy in the world. The government has completely changed the way GDP is calculated. GDP is calculated worldwide on a production basis, but they have switched to a consumer basis,” Alvi said.Alvi’s remarks come amid debate over India’s national accounts data after the IMF’s annual review assigned it a Grade ‘C’. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said the grading was due to the continued use of the 2011-12 base year, adding that a revised base year of 2022-23 would be adopted from next year.

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a relief package for debt-laden Vodafone Idea, freezing adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues of Rs 87,695 crore and rescheduling their repayment over a 10-year period from FY32 to FY41, sources told PTI.As part of the decision, the Department of Telecommunications will reassess the frozen AGR dues based on Deduction Verification Guidelines and audit reports, with the final outcome to be determined by a government-appointed committee, the sources said. They added that AGR dues related to FY18 and FY19, which were finalised by a Supreme Court order in 2020, will continue to be payable by Vodafone Idea during FY26 to FY31, without any change in terms. The measures are aimed at protecting the government’s interest as a nearly 49 per cent shareholder in the telecom operator, ensuring an orderly recovery of statutory dues including spectrum charges and AGR, maintaining competition in the telecom sector, and safeguarding services for around 20 crore Vodafone Idea subscribers, the sources said.

Locked, starved, forgotten: How servant couple turned UP home into a slow death chamber; woman reduced to ‘skeletal frame’ | Kanpur News

A retired railway employee and his mentally ill daughter were reportedly confined and starved in their own home for five years by a servant couple in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh.

JHANSI: In a disturbing case of alleged exploitation and cruelty, a retired railway employee and his mentally ill daughter were reportedly confined and starved in their own home for five years by a servant couple in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh. The shocking neglect, allegedly driven by greed for property, came to light only after the father’s death, revealing horrifying conditions inside the house. The plan and confinement After the death of his wife in 2016, 70-year-old retired senior clerk Omprakash Singh Rathore moved into a separate house with his 27-year-old daughter, Rashmi. To care for them, Omprakash employed a servant couple, Ramprakash Kushwaha and his wife Ramdevi, both residents of Charkhari. According to the family, the couple gradually took control of the house. Omprakash and Rashmi were confined to the lower rooms, while the servants occupied the upper rooms. Over the course of two years, they were completely isolated. Whenever relatives visited, the couple allegedly lied, claiming the father and daughter did not wish to meet anyone. Relatives, believing the excuse, returned without suspecting the sinister reality inside. Neglect and starvation Inside the house, the father and daughter were reportedly starved and denied proper care. Omprakash eventually died due to prolonged neglect and lack of food. His daughter, Rashmi, survived in extreme malnutrition, her body reduced to a ‘skeletal frame’. Relatives described her as appearing much older than her 27 years, weakened to the point that she was barely able to breathe. Greed as a motive The relatives allege that the servant couple executed the plan with a clear motive: to seize the property and the bank balance. They reportedly even installed a nameplate outside the house, falsely naming themselves as the deceased’s heirs. Discovery and investigation The grim reality was uncovered only after Omprakash’s death when relatives visited the house. Police arrived soon after, taking custody of the body for postmortem and beginning an investigation into the alleged confinement and starvation. CO City Arun Kumar Singh confirmed that the postmortem report would reveal the extent of neglect and assured that every aspect of the case was being thoroughly examined. “This was a planned act,” relatives said, still shocked by the horrific conditions. “If they had not been allowed to meet anyone, a complaint could have been filed with the police—but it was not done. This betrayal is unimaginable.”
