Karan Johar hugs Yami Gautam at an event amidst ‘Dhurandhar 2’ success, calls her one of his favourite actors, netizens react | Hindi Movie News

A video of Karan Johar hugging Yami Gautam at an event has gone viral on the internet. This event took place a few days ago and it was to announce the slate of Amazon Prime Video’s projects this year. The two were seen embracing before unveiling the poster of Yami’s upcoming horror-comedy Nayyi Navelli, which is slated to stream after its theatrical release on the platform. Adding to the moment, Johar introduced Yami as one of his “favourite actors,” further fueling conversations about a shift in their equation. This video gained attention due to some alleged fall out in the past between the two. Karan Johar had skipped the screening of Dhurandhar: The Revenge—an event attended by several prominent industry figures and members of the film’s team. However, in the wake of the film’s success, Johar has openly praised Aditya Dhar on social media, hinting at a possible thaw in relations.

Netizens alleged that earlier Karan along with Malaika Arora and Kirron Kher had ignored Yami when she appeared on the show they were judging. Clips from the event quickly went viral, prompting mixed responses from netizens. One X user wrote, “Damn !! What Karma Strikes !! They Karan Johar, @MalaikaArora @KirronKherBJP ignored @yamigautam !! Now Karan Johar talking and hugging her .”Some even alleged that Karan Johar had not invited Yami Gautam on ‘Koffee With Karan‘ when Hrithik Roshan was on the show to promote ‘Kaabil’. Another comment read, “The best thing about time is that time changes! Apparently, Karan johar didn’t invite Yami to his show because according to him she’s not big enough and doesn’t stand among the league of stars to be invited to his show. So he extended the invite to Hrithik only & excluded yam.”However, Yami has never really spoken about Karan or any of these incidents. Meanwhile, Karan Johar had earlier praised ‘Dhurandhar’ and now even expressed that he’s feeling major Fomo for not being able to watch ‘Dhurandhar 2’. The film-maker had expressed on his Instagram stories, “I am filming in a location that has no access to a cinema and am suffering from FOMO – Dhurandhar FOMO. I can’t wait to watch it,” he wrote. He also praised the strong support the film has received from the industry, adding, “It’s so heartening to see the united love for an Indian film.”

Cricket Ireland announces central contracts for the 2026-27 season

Cricket Ireland has revealed its central contract list for the 2026-27 season, awarding deals to a total of 48 players across the senior men’s and women’s squads. The announcement includes 25 players in the men’s squad and 23 in the women’s squad, providing crucial financial stability and support as Ireland prepares for a busy international calendar.

The contracts run through the 2026-27 period and are designed to help players stay fully focused on representing Ireland on the global stage.

Key highlights of the 2026-27 central contract structure

Cricket Ireland has maintained a flexible approach with different types of contracts tailored to players needs:

Men’s contracts (25 players total)

  • 20 full-time contracts
  • 5 retainer contracts

Women’s contracts (23 players total)

  • 8 full-time contracts
  • 10 education contracts (six of these will transition to full-time during the year)
  • 5 casual contracts

This structure allows several women players to balance their cricket commitments with education and work placements, while still being available for key matches, especially the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup.

Full list of centrally contracted players

Ireland Men (25 players): Mark Adair, Ross Adair, Andrew Balbirnie (Test captain), Ben Calitz, Curtis Campher, Cade Carmichael, Gareth Delany, George Dockrell, Stephen Doheny, Gavin Hoey, Matthew Hollard, Matthew Humphreys, Joshua Little, Tom Mayes, Andy McBrine, Barry McCarthy, Liam McCarthy, Jordan Neil, Paul Stirling (ODI captain), Harry Tector, Tim Tector, Lorcan Tucker, Ben White, Reuben Wilson, Craig Young.

Ireland Women (23 players): Ava Canning, Christina Coulter Reilly, Alana Dalzell, Georgina Dempsey, Laura Delany, Sarah Forbes, Abbi Harrison, Amy Hunter, Jennifer Jackson, Arlene Kelly, Gaby Lewis (ODI and T20I captain), Louise Little, Joanna Loughran, Aimee Maguire, Jane Maguire, Lara McBride, Kia McCartney, Ellie McGee, Cara Murray, Leah Paul, Orla Prendergast, Rebecca Stokell, Alice Tector.

Seven new men’s entrants: Ben, Jordan, Tom, Tim, and Cade all earned their spots on the back of senior international appearances in 2025. Reuben and Hollard were rewarded for standout domestic performances, with Wilson’s contribution during the Under-19 World Cup cycle also playing a role in his selection.

Five men not retained: Cricket Ireland confirmed that five players from the previous cycle have not been offered contracts for 2026-27. No names were officially disclosed, but the board acknowledged the difficulty of these decisions, given the personal sacrifices each player had made.

Sophie MacMahon retires: The experienced player from the women’s team has stepped away from the game entirely, bringing her contracted career to a close.

Freya Sargent steps away: Sargent has opted out of international cricket, removing herself from the women’s contract list.

No new women’s entrants: Unlike the men’s side, the women’s squad sees no fresh additions to the contracted group this season. The focus instead has been on consolidating the existing pool ahead of the T20 World Cup.

T20 World Cup commitment: The decision by Ava Canning, Christina Coulter Reilly, Amy Hunter, and Rebecca Stokell to defer education and work placements to commit fully to the summer schedule is perhaps the most significant individual storyline of this contract cycle. It reflects a group that is fully locked in on making the T20 World Cup count.

Is Arshdeep losing his swing? Irfan Pathan flags concern for Punjab's pacer
Arshdeep Singh (PTI Photo)

Arshdeep Singh played an important role in India’s 2026 T20 World Cup winning campaign. As he eyes maiden title with Punjab Kings, former Indian all-rounder raises concern that he needs to focus on his swing with the new balls. Arshdeep played a very important role in India’s title victory, he took 9 wickets in 8 matches. During the Super 8s, Arshdeep surpassed Jasprit Bumrah (33 wickets) to become India’s leading wicket-taker in T20 World Cup history. Despite his outstanding performance ahead of IPL 2026, Irfan Pathan believes Arshdeep has lost his swing in new balls. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Pathan said, “Arshdeep, who was your highest wicket-taker, has been consistently taking wickets. One thing he will definitely need to focus on is how he bowls with the new ball. Because over the past year, or slightly less than a year, from what I have observed, he hasn’t been bowling much inswing with the new ball.” Pathan acknowledged that Arshdeep’s stats have declined with the new ball, and he needs to pay attention to that. “His statistics, compared to before and after the Asia Cup, have slightly declined in terms of new-ball bowling. He will need to pay attention to that, and also keep an eye on his economy rate,” said Pathan.

Arshdeep Singh In IPL

Arshdeep Singh has been consistent for the Punjab Kings since his IPL debut in 2019. He has taken 97 wickets in 82 IPL matches for the franchise with a concerning economy rate of nine. He was retained by the Kings before the 2025 IPL auction for Rs 18 Crore, and he played a vital role in taking his side to the final, where they eventually lost to the first-time winners Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).Singh is also the leading wicket-taker for India in the T20Is with 127 wickets in 84 matches. He is expected to play a big role for Punjab if the Kings are looking to finish this season with a trophy.

Cabinet approves UDAN 2.0 at Rs 28,840 crore to expand regional air connectivity

The Union Cabinet has approved a modified UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme worth Rs 28,840 crore aimed at strengthening regional air connectivity through new airport infrastructure, enhanced financial support for airlines and operational assistance for smaller aerodromes.Under the revamped programme, 100 new airports will be developed in challenge mode, with an estimated average cost of Rs 100 crore per airport. The government has provided budgetary support of Rs 12,159 crore for this component to improve connectivity in remote and underserved regions. The scheme also proposes the development of 200 modern helipads, particularly to improve access in Himalayan, North-Eastern and island regions, as well as aspirational districts. A budgetary allocation of Rs 3,661 crore has been earmarked for helipad construction. In addition, the modified UDAN framework includes support for the acquisition of Made-in-India aircraft, backed by budgetary assistance of Rs 400 crore, with the objective of strengthening domestic aviation manufacturing capabilities. To improve route sustainability, the government will provide Viability Gap Funding (VGF) support ranging from 80 per cent to 90 per cent for airlines operating under the regional connectivity scheme. This assistance will be tapered over a five-year period, with an overall budgetary outlay of Rs 10,043 crore. The Cabinet has also approved operation and maintenance (O&M) support for RCS aerodromes for three years, recognising the higher operating costs faced by aircraft operators and airport developers in low-traffic regions. 'Talking bulls**t' about Arjun Tendulkar': Yuvraj Singh's father blasts R Ashwin
R Ashwin and Arjun Tendulkar

NEW DELHI: A debate has broken out over Arjun Tendulkar’s chances in IPL 2026 after Ravichandran Ashwin said the youngster is unlikely to feature for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). With a strong pace attack already in place, Ashwin felt Arjun would struggle to break into the playing XI.Speaking about the team combination, Ashwin said, “Arjun Tendulkar khelega hi nahi (Arjun Tendulkar won’t play at all), and let’s not even go there. I think it is very difficult because there are Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, Avesh Khan, and Mohammad Shami in this lineup. There are so many fast bowlers. How will he play? I don’t think he makes any case unless and until there are a lot of injuries.”

SWOT analysis of Punjab Kings: PBKS’ report card ahead of IPL 2026

Punjab Kings (PBKS) enter the IPL 2026 season with a mix of hunger and heartbreak. After a spectacular run in 2025 that saw them dismantle giants on their way to the final, they fell agonizingly short against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. However, the narrative around the franchise has shifted from “perennial underachievers” to “clinical contenders.”

With Shreyas Iyer—a captain known for his tactical composure and ability to build championship cultures—at the helm, the Kings have moved away from their historical tendency of frantic squad overhauls. Instead, they have cultivated a balanced unit that combines explosive international flair with the most exciting young Indian domestic talent. As they head into the new season, the Mullanpur stadium isn’t just expecting entertaining cricket; it’s expecting silverware.

Can PBKS clinch the IPL title this time?

The ghosts of the 2025 final defeat will surely serve as fuel rather than a burden. Last year, PBKS proved they had the temperament to survive the knockout stages, a hurdle that had tripped them up for a decade. The core reason they can go one step further in 2026 is their leadership and stability.

Iyer has already tasted IPL success as a captain and knows how to navigate the pressure of a final. Furthermore, the squad depth appears more robust this year. While they were “undone” by RCB last year, the addition of big-game players like Marcus Stoinis and the rising maturity of Prabhsimran Singh suggests they have more tools to handle high-pressure chases. If their pace spearheads remain fit, there is no technical reason why PBKS cannot cross that final hurdle and finally lift their maiden trophy.

Punjab Kings SWOT analysis: IPL 2026

Strengths

  • The spin king factor: With Yuzvendra Chahal leading the attack and Harpreet Brar providing pinpoint accuracy, PBKS boasts one of the most lethal spin duos in the league. Chahal’s ability to take wickets in the middle overs remains their greatest defensive weapon.
  • Aggressive Indian core: The retention of Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran provides a fearless batting backbone. These players have proven they can strike at 150+ without needing a “settling-in” period.
  • Death bowling mastery: Arshdeep Singh remains one of the world’s best at the back end of an innings. Combined with the raw pace of Lockie Ferguson, PBKS has the variety to defend totals even on small grounds.

Weaknesses

  • Over-reliance on all-rounders: While having Marco Jansen, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Aaron Hardie is a luxury, it can lead to “selection headaches.” Finding the right balance between these four overseas spots without compromising the bowling or batting depth is a delicate act.
  • Top-order consistency: While Iyer anchors the middle, the team has occasionally struggled with finding a consistent opening partner for Prabhsimran who can match his aggression without throwing their wicket away early.

Opportunities

  • The Musheer Khan breakout: After a stellar domestic run, all eyes are on Musheer Khan. His ability to contribute with both bat and ball makes him a potential “X-factor” that could provide the balance PBKS has lacked in previous years.
  • Marcus Stoinis in the finisher role: If Marcus Stoinis is utilized as a pure finisher rather than a floater, he has the potential to win 3-4 games single-handedly, much like he has done in the BBL and previous IPL stints.

Redemption for Shreyas: After missing out on the title last year, Iyer has the opportunity to cement his legacy as the greatest captain in PBKS history by delivering their first-ever star above the crest.

Threats

  • The finalist hangover: History shows that teams losing a final sometimes struggle the following year due to the weight of expectation. PBKS must ensure they don’t play “safe” cricket out of a fear of failing again.
  • Injury management: With a heavy reliance on overseas fast-bowling all-rounders (Jansen, Hardie, Bartlett), an injury to any of these key pillars mid-season could disrupt the team’s entire structural balance.
  • The Mullanpur surface: If the home tracks turn out to be flat high-scoring belters, it might negate the advantage of their skilled spinners and turn games into tosses of a coin.
