Mumbai: Digital transactions in Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus services received tremendous response from passengers, with a continuous increase in ticket purchases through Phone Pe, Google Pay and similar UPI payment methods, according to statistics from September to December 2025.The data showed that lakhs of UPI transactions were successfully completed daily in MSRTC during the period. In September 2025, over 49.79 lakh ticket transactions were conducted through UPI, generating revenue of Rs 64 crore, an official said. In October, revenue increased further, reaching Rs 77.32 crore. In November 2025, revenue of approximately Rs 78.66 crore was recorded from UPI transactions.The trend continued in December 2025, with over 62.59 lakh ticket transactions through UPI, generating revenue of Rs 83.67 crore, the official said.“With MSRTC providing UPI payment facility at bus stations, ticket windows and through conductors during travel, passengers saved time and the trouble of carrying cash and keeping change reduced. Consequently, unnecessary disputes with carriers over change completely ended,” the official said, adding, “The digital payment process also increased transparency and helped curb revenue leakage.”
