    A two-year-old tweet of Elon Musk ‘predicting’ the arrest of Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro. In August 2024, the tech billionaire shared a post writing “I’m coming for you Maduro! I will carry you to Gitmo on a donkey”. Musk was then responding to a video post allegedly claiming that Maduro gave “direct orders to his security forces, instructing them to keep Elon Musk out at all costs”. The post has resurfaced again after the United States launched an overnight military operation against Venezuela on January 3, capturing President Nicolas Maduro and his wife First Lady Cilia Flores.X user Hassan Sajwani shared Musk’s two-year-old Twitter post with the caption “WooW”. Another user SMX shared the post, writing “Time to take Maduro to Gitmo on a donkey, Elon”.

    Quoting Elon Musk’s post, Empress Heavy shared an AI-generated video meme depicting the Tesla CEO riding a donkey through a desert while bound Nicolás Maduro trails behind toward a “Gitmo” sign. The post is captioned: “Elon came for Maduro, just as he said he would back in 2024, and now Elon’s carrying him to Gitmo on a donkey. This is why you never bet against Elon Musk”.

    Maduro and Flores were flown out of the capital of Caracas on a US helicopter in the early hours of Saturday. They were taken aboard the USS Iwo Jima at an unknown location in the Caribbean Sea. Trump shared Maduro’s first photo after the arrest in a social media post. Musk reshared the post, with the caption:“Congratulations, President Trump! This is a win for the world and a clear message to evil dictators everywhere.”In another post, the tech billionaire wrote “It is heartwarming to see so many Venezuelans celebrating their country freed from a brutal tyrant”.
