Mumbai: A 49-year-old woman was killed and a motorcyclist (Rapido rider) critically injured after an allegedly speeding cement mixer truck rammed into their two-wheeler at Airoli Junction, Mulund East, around 11 am on Saturday. According to a complaint filed by traffic constable , who was on duty at the spot, the Ashok Leyland mixer truck came at high speed from the cement yard side and hit the motorcycle from behind on the Mulund–Goregaon Link Road.The impact threw both riders onto the road. Constable Satpute, with the help of citizens and police shifted the injured to Fortis Hospital, Mulund, where the pillion rider, Shubhangi Surendra Magare, a Mulund East resident, was declared dead. The motorcyclist, identified as Ganesh Vishram Madhav, 25, a Rapido rider, remains in the ICU.The truck driver, Jawahir Bashraj Yadav, 40, was detained and handed over to Navghar Police for further action. Police have registered a case for rash and negligent driving.
