Mumbai: On Monday morning, the city woke up to a sharp nip in the air as the India Meteorological Department (IMD)’s Santacruz observatory, representative of Mumbai, recorded a minimum temperature of 15.2°C, a drop of 2.2° from Sunday’s 17.4°C.While the minimum logged by the Santacruz observatory was 2.4° below normal, IMD’s Colaba observatory recorded a minimum temperature of 20.3°C, which was 0.2° below normal. Day temperatures hovered around 32°C.The IMD, in its forecast, predicted that minimum temperature may further dip to 14°C on Tuesday, and then rise to 17°C by Thursday, which indicates that the cool weather conditions will continue to remain. Minimum temperatures are expected to remain below 20°C till Sunday, Dec 28.Mumbai’s all-time coldest December day record, so far, has been 10.6°C on Dec 20, 1949, according to IMD data.
