Political leaders allege deliberate manipulation and bogus entries, with over 500 names from Ambernath reportedly appearing in Ulhasnagar wards. Complaints have been lodged with the municipal commissioner over these significant errors.

‘Words & worlds revolving around the chair’: BJP mocks alleged Siddaramaiah–DKS tussle in Karnataka; calls it ‘Congress vs Congress’ | India News

‘Words & worlds revolving around the chair’: BJP mocks alleged Siddaramaiah–DKS tussle in Karnataka; calls it ‘Congress vs Congress’

NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday took a jibe at the ongoing internal tussle in Congress party in Karnataka. After Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah‘s “word power” post, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla quipped that the party’s “words & worlds revolving around the chair”, adding that a new “episode has been added to this ongoing OTT series of ‘Congress vs Congress'”.“First, DK Shivakumar has said that there is a secret deal about the chief ministership. Then DK Shivakumar tweeted that ‘word power’ is ‘world power’… Then, responding to that, Siddaramaiah says that the word has no meaning if it doesn’t change the world… Their words and their worlds are revolving around the chair, and INC has now come to mean ‘I Need Chair, I Need Confusion.’ For the last two and a half years, their only priorities have been power, the chair, and leadership,” Poonawalla said.

‘All 140 MLAs Are Mine’: DK Shivakumar Amid Karnataka CM Speculation; Siddaramaiah Responds

“The Congress party has now started fighting openly in public in Karnataka, and yet another episode has been added to this ongoing OTT series of ‘Congress vs Congress’ in Karnataka,” he added. He further slammed the grand old party for ignoring the people of Karnataka. “They don’t care about people, and therefore, people of Karnataka are facing a farmer crisis, an economic crisis, a law-and-order crisis, an infrastructure crisis, a traffic crisis, and a pothole crisis… For Congress, power is the priority, not people,” he said.A public exchange between Karnataka’s two most powerful Congress leaders — CM Siddaramaiah and deputy CM DK Shivakumar — intensified this week, after what began as a seemingly innocuous social media post spiralled into a fresh round of political signalling over the leadership question.“WORD POWER IS WORLD POWER. The biggest force in the world is to keep one’s word. Be it a judge, president or anyone else including myself, everyone has to walk the talk. Word power is world power,” DKS said in a post on X on Wednesday.Siddaramaiah later replied with a similarly worded post, “That is what I am telling. Whatever we speak in our world that is called Pratikna. That is the word our tongue. That is. I said word power is world power. Wherever in the world. Whatever you speak is very much important. Whatever you also tell in your media also tell. Your anchor also speak. Whether your reporter speak, that is important. That is the power.”Later, DKS clarified that his “word power” remark was regarding Constitution Day. “Yesterday I was speaking on the our Constitution day. Whatever judges speak, whatever politicians speak, whatever is speak is very much important. I said that all you, all the advocates for all the advocate. I said when you speak you should be. When you convey the message, it should be very important,” he said.Talks around a possible leadership change in Karnataka are heating up, following the Congress government’s completion of two and a half years in power — the stage at which Shivakumar’s supporters believe a 2023 rotational arrangement should begin. Although Siddaramaiah has repeatedly insisted he plans to serve the entire five-year term, Shivakumar’s recent comments and social media activity have been seen as fresh indications of his interest in the top post.

‘Ex-CM known for creating hurdles stalled Metro-14; work restarted only after I took charge,’ says Devendra Fadnavis

BADLAPUR: In a high-energy campaign rally in Badlapur ahead of the upcoming Badlapur and Ambernath municipal council elections, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis sharply criticized the previous Uddhav Thackeray led state government, alleging that the crucial Metro Line 14 (Badlapur–Kanjurmarg) project was stalled by a former CM known for creating obstacles in projects. Fadnavis emphasized that work on the project resumed only after he returned to power.Fadnavis appealed to voters to give the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a clear majority, asserting that only an ideologically aligned administration can ensure smooth and corruption-free development. He highlighted that over the past decade, several issues in Badlapur were resolved under BJP rule—ranging from road funding to large-scale infrastructure projects like the metro. He warned that if other parties take control of the council, funds sent by the state government for development may face misuse or irregularities. “Development money must reach the ground. For that, governance has to be in responsible hands,” he said.Speaking about the metro project, Fadnavis stated that the Metro Line 14 initiative began in 2014 but was halted when a government “that created hurdles at every step” took charge. After returning to office, he said BJP MLA Kishan Kathore reminded him of the pending works including of water and Metro, after which the government revived the project. Fadnavis assured that tenders for Metro Line 14 will be floated soon, and the line will be completed within 3.5 years. In a major announcement for commuters, Fadnavis also assured that Metro Line 5, which is currently planned to reach upto Ambernath’s Chikhloli, will be extended further till Badlapur, giving thousands of daily travelers improved connectivity to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The CM noted that several key projects have already been completed in Badlapur through MMRDA, and promised to resolve the city’s longstanding water shortage issues for which work on two dams going on.He also announced that Badlapur residents who commute daily to Mumbai will soon be able to travel in AC metro-style coaches in local trains, making long-distance travel safer and more comfortable.Fadnavis urged people to vote for the BJP–NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) alliance candidates, including Rachita Ghorpade – President candidate for Badlapur Municipal Council and Tejashree Karanjule, president candidate for Ambernath. He said their victory would accelerate the development roadmap of both cities.Once a BJP stronghold, the Badlapur Municipal Council has been under Shiv Sena’s control in recent years. Determined to reclaim the region, the BJP has deployed its full political strength, making these elections a critical contest in the MMR region.During rally alongwith CM Fadnavis, BJP MLA Kishan Kathore, Captain Ashish Damle, Chairman of Parshuram Economic Development Corporation and MLA Kumar Ailani were present.

'Emotional coach is not a good thing': AB de Villiers' explosive verdict on Gautam Gambhir after India's 2-0 whitewash
Gautam Gambhir and AB de Villiers

NEW DELHI: India’s stunning 2-0 whitewash at the hands of South Africa in Guwahati on Wednesday has once again brought Gautam Gambhir‘s role as head coach under intense scrutiny. This is the second time India have been blanked in a Test series under Gambhir, following last year’s humiliating defeat in New Zealand. The latest setback has triggered sharp criticism from several former cricketers and experts, but none more dramatic and thought-provoking than AB de Villiers‘ assessment of Gambhir’s leadership style.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW!Speaking on Ravichandran Ashwin‘s YouTube channel, De Villiers offered a candid and layered view of Gambhir — one that balanced both concern and perspective. Drawing from his experience of playing against Gambhir for years, the South African great suggested that emotions may be at the heart of India’s current coaching debate.

Coach Gautam Gambhir, chief selector Ajit Agarkar need to get their act right

“I don’t know what GG is like when it comes to leadership,” he began. “I’ve known him as an emotional player, and if that is the case in the change room, generally an emotional coach is not a good thing to have.”The remark instantly struck a chord in the cricketing world, fuelling questions about whether Gambhir’s intensity — once his greatest strength — is working against him in a dressing room that appears increasingly unsettled. However, De Villiers didn’t stop at criticism. He made it equally clear that there is no fixed formula for a successful coach. “It’s not to say he’s that kind of a coach behind the scenes. There’s no right and wrong. Some players feel comfortable with a former player, some with someone who’s never played but has years of coaching experience.”

Poll

What do you believe is the primary issue with India’s performance under Gambhir?

He further admitted that he had never worked directly with Gambhir, Morne Morkel or Ryan ten Doeschate inside the Indian setup, making it difficult to fully judge the internal dynamics. But he contrasted the situation sharply with his admiration for South Africa’s current head coach, Shukri Conrad, crediting him for restoring calm and clarity.“I absolutely loved playing under Gary Kirsten; he’s a former player and similar to Gautam Gambhir,” ABD added. “Some players find confidence with a former great being there — someone who inspires you to put in extra yards.”As Team India reels from another home debacle, De Villiers’ comments have added a dramatic edge to a debate that is unlikely to fade soon.

Mumbai: Digi-billboard can’t be 3 times brighter than its surroundings | Mumbai News

Mumbai: Digi-billboard can't be 3 times brighter than its surroundings
Mumbai’s BMC is stepping up its game with new outdoor advertising rules aimed at reducing glare from digital billboards to ensure safer driving conditions. This updated regulation, which takes precedence over the previous 2008 guidelines, also greenlights advertising on the exteriors of construction sites and barricades.

MUMBAI: In its Policy Guidelines for Display of Outdoor Advertising 2025, BMC curbed the luminance ratio of digital billboards to 3:1, meaning a billboard cannot be more than three times brighter than its surrounding environment. This limit ensures the screen does not cause glare or visual distraction for road users. LED ads will continue to be allowed inside malls, multiplexes, commercial complexes and petrol pumps.“These new guidelines are aimed at regulating the display of advertisements by means of hoardings, glow signs, bus queue shelters, advertisements on construction sites of buildings, and advertisements during festival seasons. Due attention has also been paid to relatively new concepts such as digital advertising on malls, big shopping centres, national and international banks, commercial institutes, etc, as also temporary permissions for the display of banners/boards, etc. These new guidelines supersede the previous guidelines of 2008 and all circulars issued heretofore,” said the preface to the policy signed by the municipal commissioner.BMC allowed advertisements to be displayed on barricades, and outer surfaces of buildings that are under construction or repair. The new rules are based on recommendations from a committee headed by former Justice Dilip Bhosale and feedback from citizens. The licensing department will continue to oversee permissions and take action against unauthorised advertisements under Sections 328 and 328A of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888. The detailed guidelines have been uploaded on the BMC website and have been made accessible from Nov 27, 2025. The making of the policy gained momentum after the crash of the Ghatkopar billboard, which killed 17 people and injured over 70 in May 2024.

Spiritual beats: The rise of bhajan jamming in Mumbai | Mumbai News

Spiritual beats: The rise of bhajan jamming in Mumbai

On a Monday evening in South Mumbai, the 200-year-old Jabreshwar Mahadev Temple lights up, not just with the familiar aarti glow, but with the energy of over 100 young Mumbaikars swaying, clapping and singing bhajans in unison. With many such sessions being held across the city, it looks like Mumbai’s playlist is changing.‘It’s like a mini spiritual journey for all’Every Monday, the temple’s courtyard steps transform into a spiritual jam room for collegegoers, young professionals and even influencers. Aakash Tiwari, one of the core devotees, says, “Every single week on Monday, we have close to 100 young people joining us here. It’s like a mini spiritual journey for all.” Kalpesh Kokate, one of the founders of this unique community, adds, “We did begin this on a small scale a few years ago, but this just kept increasing. Now we have around 1000 active members in our bhajan WhatsApp group. While mostly everyone is Gen Z, there are millennials and a few senior devotees too. Shiva is something that you cannot understand and explain, so it’s all about experiencing His vibe. People have now begun waiting for Mondays; they say the week goes well when you absorb the energy and vibe.” For many, the experience has become a weekly reset. “It feels like a reset button for the week,” says 21-year-old regular attendee Aastha Bhoir. “You leave lighter, happier… and the music is honestly addictive!” she adds. ‘It is simply singing songs, but with soul’The bhajan wave isn’t restricted to temples. Bhajan jamming is gaining popularity across the city, drawing hundreds to informal, music-led gatherings. Singers Raghav and Prachi Agarwal, who recently hosted a massive jam session in central Mumbai, explain the new-age appeal. Raghav says, “It is simply singing songs, but with soul. Prachi and I started this almost a year ago with one idea: bring people together to sit on the floor, drop all intoxications, and just sing their hearts out for 90 minutes. That collective energy, that calm, that high, that’s what bhajan jamming truly is.” Prachi adds, “What makes such jam sessions truly special is that it’s by the people, for the people. Nothing is scripted. There’s no set list, no fixed flow, everything unfolds organically. The crowd decides the direction, the songs, the energy. Everyone becomes a part of the moment rather than just watching it.” She continues, “And when hundreds of people come together with pure intention and positive energy, the vibrations they create are unbelievable. That collective rhythm, that shared emotion, that’s the magic. That’s what makes this experience unlike anything else.” ‘These sessions aren’t just performances; they’re collective meditations’Adding momentum to the movement is the arrival of internationally known kirtan artiste Radhika Das aka Ravi Pattni, whose visit this weekend marks a moment where kirtan becomes not just devotional, but cosmopolitan. “These sessions aren’t just performances; they’re collective meditations. Everyone becomes part of the music. There’s no separation between stage and audience. The magic is in the spontaneity; the improvisation, the call-and-response, the shared emotion. It’s a space where you can be yourself fully, and the music holds you.” Speaking about its unique resonance in Mumbai, he adds, “Mumbai is a city that moves fast, dreams big, and feels deeply. People here are constantly seeking balance: between ambition and peace, chaos and clarity. Bhajan gives that grounding. It offers a pause, a breath, a moment of connection in a city that rarely slows down. That’s why these gatherings feel so relevant here. They meet Mumbai exactly where it is.” Kirtan sandhyas and bhajan jam evenings offer something today’s youth deeply crave as community, connection, stress relief and a sense of rooted identity, all are delivered through music. And as the crowds grow each week, one thing is clear: Mumbai’s spiritual playlist is changing. WHY GEN Z IS TUNING INTO DEVOTIONAL MUSIC

  • There is a shift toward mindfulness.
  • Meditation apps and breathwork trends have opened the door for spiritual music.
  • There is a search for belonging and bhajan gatherings feel inclusive and non-judgmental.
  • It’s about music that feels both nostalgic and new as upbeat arrangements make devotional lyrics feel fresh.
  • The digital push is evident too. Viral Instagram reels of kirtan jams are influencing young listeners

Vascular surgeon with 18 years of experience, shares one simple exercise for people with Peripheral Artery Disease

Vascular surgeon with 18 years of experience, shares one simple exercise for people with Peripheral Artery Disease

Peripheral artery disease, or PAD, affects millions worldwide and often leads to excruciating pain, difficulties in walking, and the risk of amputation of a limb in advanced stages. In one remarkable case of how simple lifestyle changes may make a big difference, an exercise recommended by a vascular surgeon helped a young patient with a blockage of critical leg arteries avoid amputation and walk independently. Dr. Sumit Kapadia, a vascular surgeon with 18 years of experience, encountered a patient at risk of leg amputation due to leg artery disease and this is what he recommended. Take a look

Understanding the challenge of peripheral artery disease

2

PAD results from the narrowing or occlusion of the major arteries supplying the limbs due to atherosclerosis. As a result, during activity, the muscles become deprived of oxygen-rich blood, and symptoms include leg pain, cramps, weakness, and fatigue during even short walks. Severe PAD, if left untreated, leads to non-healing wounds and gangrene, which may require amputation. While medical treatments-and surgical options exist, conservative exercise-based methods remain a mainstay in the management and improvement of symptoms and quality of life. PAD can also lead to reduced mobility and overall physical deconditioning, increasing the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke.

Daily Walk Boosts Physical and Mental Health

A careful, focused approach: Intermittent Walking-

3

Dr. Sumit Kapadia, a vascular surgeon, came across a patient whose legs became weak, painful, and exhausted after only a few steps. Despite ongoing medical care, several doctors had warned of the possibility of amputation. Instead of going for aggressive surgery, Dr. Kapadia recommended a structured program of intermittent walking-an approach gaining powerful clinical support as a way to relieve symptoms in PAD.Intermittent walking consists of walking briskly for a period of two to five minutes, followed by a short rest period, after which this cycle is repeated for as long as one hour per session, several times weekly. This method promotes the growth and dilation of collateral arteries-natural bypass vessels that develop over time to restore blood flow around blockages. By encouraging blood to move through such pathways, intermittent walking improves oxygen delivery to leg muscles and, over time, reduces pain during exercise. At first, progress was slow; the patient could barely make short intervals of walking. But with consistent adherence, his walking endurance increased week by week. The pain that once restricted even minimal movement began to subside. Within weeks-he was able to walk longer distances, climb stairs with reduced discomfort, and regain a degree of mobility previously lost. What at one time was a chore now became a part of daily life as his legs grew stronger, more energized.

Why intermittent walking matters

4

For patients with PAD-intermittent walking is not only exercise but also a therapeutic approach. Studies have identified that these walking programs significantly increase pain-free walking distance, reduce symptoms such as leg cramping and fatigue, and enhance functional capacity. Beyond its physical benefits, it empowers patients psychologically by restoring confidence and encouraging independence. Broader implications for the management of PAD The success with this patient’s case underscores how low-cost and accessible interventions can complement medical and surgical care. Although not a substitute for much-needed medical treatments, intermittent walking has been recommended in the guidelines for the management of PAD in many countries. It encourages natural collateral circulation, delaying the progress of the disease and minimizing the possibility of invasive procedures.Physicians and specialists are increasingly-highlighting education regarding walking programs, personalized exercise prescription, and regular follow-up. Patients also benefit from realizing even small, guided steps can translate into significant improvements. This particular case serves as a powerful reminder that tackling complex diseases often paves the way for effective solutions through simple and sustained actions. The practice of intermittent walking exemplifies how we can harness the body’s innate healing abilities to achieve better health outcomes, without the immediate need for surgical interventions. It is crucial for all individuals suffering from atherosclerotic disease accompanied by leg pain to have an open and informative discussion with their healthcare provider regarding these exercise modalities, which should be carefully tailored to their specific medical conditions. With a blend of patience, dedicated guidance, and unwavering commitment, many individuals may discover newfound strength in their legs, experience a significant reduction in pain levels, and cultivate hope for sustained mobility, even in the face of circulatory difficulties. Each step taken not only has the potential to save lives but also plays a critical role in restoring futures for countless individuals.
