On the third day of the legal battle over late industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s will, the Delhi High Court heard a detailed rebuttal from Priya Kapur’s legal team regarding allegations made by Karisma Kapoor’s side. For those not in the know, Karisma’s children and Sunjay Kapur’s widowed wife are in the midst of a legal battle for the inheritence of his Rs 30,000 crore estate. Karisma’s children filed a plea alleging that Priya has forged his will. In the last hearing, Karisma’s daughter alleged that two months of her fees were unpaid. This led to the court to remind both the parties to avoid melodrama. However, Priya’s lawyer, Sheyl Trehan, presented extensive documentation to counter the earlier claim that the children’s university fees had not been cleared. She produced a Rs 95-lakh-per-semester receipt, confirming the payment was already made, and clarified that the next instalment for the second semester is only due in December.

This directly contradicted the previous hearing, during which the lawyer representing Karisma’s daughter alleged that two months of fees were unpaid. Once the issue of fees was addressed, the court turned to the core issue, the authenticity of Sunjay’s will, which Karisma and the children are disputing. The defence then walked the court through the entire sequence of how the will came into being.They stated that the first draft was created on the laptop of Nitin Sharma, the lawyer responsible for preparing the document. His affidavit confirmed this, supported by screenshots, file histories and metadata. Sharma even brought his laptop to court and invited the bench to verify everything directly.The defence then broke down the timeline of edits: Sunjay reviewed the draft on March 10, 2025, sent his feedback over the next few days, and the final version was completed on March 17, 2025. This timestamp aligned perfectly with the plaintiffs’ own admission that Sunjay had reached Delhi on the same day. Travel records submitted in court matched the metadata, creating a seamless digital and physical chronology.The chain of custody of the document was also laid out in full, from the creation of the Word file to its conversion into a signed PDF, from the email trail between Sharma and accountant Dinesh Agarwal to the renaming, forwarding, and eventual moment when Sunjay viewed the will at 5.01 pm on the Family Office WhatsApp group. All these steps were supported by logs, screenshots and sworn statements.The plaintiffs’ new claim — that the signature on the will might not be genuine — was firmly refuted. The defence highlighted that this very signature had been used by Karisma and the children to obtain benefits worth Rs 2,000 crore from the RK Family Trust. They had never questioned its authenticity until the dispute over the will, which pertains only to Sunjay’s personal remaining assets, including his 6.5% stake in AIPL and certain international properties.Both attesting witnesses, Sharma and Agarwal, reaffirmed in their affidavits that the signature was authentic and properly witnessed. Emails presented in court also showed that after Sunjay’s death, Agarwal immediately reached out to the executor. The executor received the original will on June 24, 2025 — a handover that the plaintiffs themselves acknowledged in writing. For several weeks after Sunjay passed away, the plaintiffs did not request the will, focusing instead on trust papers, weakening their claim that it had been concealed.Another argument, that the will was suspicious because it was not registered, was dismissed as well. The defence clarified that registration of a will is not compulsory under Indian law, and Delhi does not require probate. Since much of Sunjay’s immovable property is located abroad, probate would not have been needed regardless. Relevant case law was submitted to support these points.Before the hearing concluded, the defence underscored Priya Kapur’s conduct since Sunjay Kapur’s passing, pointing out that she had spent over Rs 1 crore on the children’s education, healthcare and overall welfare, entirely in accordance with the mandates of the trust and the will. Meanwhile, senior advocate Rajiv Nayar, appearing for Priya, told the court that it is a “healthy tradition” for a husband to leave his assets to his wife. Referring to Sunjay’s father’s will, he said, “There is nothing suspicious about a husband giving everything in his assets to his wife. As is the case in my father-in-law’s will, where everything was given to his wife. It is a healthy tradition which perhaps has been maintained.”The matter will continue with the next round of arguments on November 21.

FARIDABAD: In a quiet Faridabad home Dhoj village, terror was being ground to powder. The co-accused in the Delhi car blast Dr Muzammil, turned flour mill into a chemical workshop. Pictures of the mill and electrical machinery, recovered from the house of a taxi driver in Faridabad, Haryana, reveal the chilling scale of his preparations.How an everyday grain grinder became tool to powder chemicalsA flour mill is essentially a grinder—it has heavy rollers or blades to crush solid material into fine powder. While it is normally used for grains, it can also be used to grind chemical compounds into fine powder, which can then be used in reactions to make explosives.

A day before the November 10 blast that killed 15 people, a video resurfaced showing 2,600kg of ammonium nitrate stored in a secluded cleric’s house from where Muzammil had rented a room for just Rs 1,500 a month. Investigators say this stash formed a critical part of the terror module. Evidence recovered from Muzammil’s lodgings at Al-Falah University, along with those of co-accused Umar Un Nabi—the driver of the i20 used in the blast—suggests that the terror plot had been meticulously planned for over two years. Diaries and notebooks contained coded references, names, numbers, and repeated mentions of “operation,” pointing to multiple intended attacks.Evidence allegedly recovered from room Al-Falah University’s room no 13 (where Muzammil Ganaie lived) and Umar Un Nabi’s room (No 4) points towards an elaborate terror plot. According to investigators, the notebooks and diaries were filled with coded references, names and numbers with dates from November 8-12, suggesting the doctors were planning multiple attacks. The word ‘operation’ was scribbled repeatedly on the diaries.Umar, who was driving the i20 that blew up near Red Fort metro station on November 10 and Muzammil, who had rented the two rooms in Faridabad from where nearly 3,000kg of ammonium nitrate and other explosive substances were found last week, had both joined Al-Falah in close succession during the pandemic – Umar in 2021 and Muzammil six months after that, the sources said.The diaries were also found to contain names of 2530 people, most of whom are either from Jammu & Kashmir, Muzammil and Umar’s home state, or Faridabad and nearby areas, giving investigators an idea of the contours of this white coat terror module.

NEW DELHI: Congress on Friday took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he left for Johannesburg, the venue for this year’s G20 Summit. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh suggested the prime minister was attending the event “safely and securely” because US President Donald Trump has chosen to boycott it, and wondered whether “huglomacy” with “my good friend” would revive when the next Summit takes place in the US.The prime minister embarked on a three-day visit to South Africa on Friday to attend the G20 Summit.

Ramesh, Congress general secretary in charge of communications, noted that the next G20 Summit, a year from now, will be held in the United States and that by then India’s trade “(or)deal” with Washington would presumably be completed.“But if in the past seven months, President Trump has claimed 61 times that he halted Operation Sindoor, imagine how many more times he will repeat those claims in the next twelve months,” Ramesh said on X.He said the prime minister was attending the Johannesburg Summit “safely and securely” since “President Trump and the US are boycotting the summit”.“Recall that Mr Modi didn’t go to Kuala Lumpur a few days back for the India-Asean Summit since he would then have to come face-to-face with President Trump,” he added.Calling the situation “extraordinary,” Ramesh criticised US Secretary of State Marco Rubio for opposing South Africa’s G20 themes of solidarity, equality and sustainability on grounds that they amounted to anti-Americanism.“It is incidentally the very same Marco Rubio who was the first, at 5:37 PM on May 10th, to announce to the world the abrupt halt to Operation Sindoor,” he said.Ramesh also pointed out that the G20 presidency rotates annually: India assumed it from Indonesia in November 2023 and handed it to Brazil in November 2024.
