NEW DELHI: Chief minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday announced that the names of three metro stations will be changed to enhance passenger convenience and clearly define the local identity.Pitampura Metro Station on the Red Line, which will become an interchange station after the RK Puram–Janakpuri corridor of the Magenta Line under Phase IV expansion becomes operational, will be known as “Madhuban Chowk”.The under-construction north Pitampura station in QU Block will now be named “North Pitampura–Prashant Vihar Metro Station”. The proposed Pitampura North Metro Station will be named “Haiderpur Village Metro Station”. These two stations are also part of the RK Puram–Janakpuri corridor, which is expected to become operational for the public next year.Addressing the public, CM Gupta said, “The arrival of the sacred Raj Kalash Yatra, taken out in honour of the brave martyrs of the Rezang La War, at Haiderpur is in itself an extremely proud moment. This sacred journey is a powerful message that connects the entire nation with the spirit of ‘Nation First’. She added that her govt is fully committed to the comprehensive development of this area.She wrote on X that for the convenience of passengers, the proposed North Pitampura station in QU Block will now be named “North Pitampura–Prashant Vihar Metro Station”. The proposed Pitampura North Metro Station will be named “Haiderpur Village Metro Station”. The current Pitampura Metro Station will be named “Madhuban Chowk Metro Station”.In total, DMRC is constructing about 112 kilometres of new metro lines as part of its Phase IV expansion across the national capital. Of these, the construction of two priority corridors is underway: the RK Ashram Marg – Janakpuri West corridor and the Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor, also known as the new Golden Line. However, a small Majlis Park to Maujpur corridor is almost ready. Three new corridors were approved last year, which are in the pre-construction stage.

MUMBAI: Road transport on the first day of the workweek could be crippled. Operations at all 486 CNG refuelling stations in MMR came to a sudden halt on Sunday afternoon after the main gas pipeline at Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers’ Chembur plant was damaged and the supply to Mahanagar Gas Ltd’s (MGL) station in Wadala disconnected.Autos, taxis, buses and aggregator cabs like Uber and Ola were hit, as were over 5 lakh private cars that run on CNG. Sources said the supply could remain suspended till Monday morning as repair and restoration work could take time.A senior MGL official said the work was being expedited to ensure the supply is restored “at the earliest”. At the time of going to press, the official said a few CNG outlets could open by Sunday night but most others would stay shut.

There were long queues of autos outside some CNG outlets. “It is frustrating as we are unable to run our vehicles,” said an auto driver from Bhandup. A driver with a taxi aggregator said he had to resort to refuelling with petrol. “But there are several cabs that run only on CNG and they have been hit badly and are off the roads. Aggregator cabs will be unavailable on Monday if the CNG crisis continues overnight,” he said. Mumbai Rickshawmen’s Union leader Thampy Kurien pointed out that not many share autos run outside railway stations on Sunday but warned that the crisis could worsen when offices reopen on Monday. “We cannot keep autos off roads for two days. It will affect the livelihood of many drivers across the suburbs. There are nearly 3 lakh autos running in the city daily.” Kurien demanded that MGL find alternative solutions when such scenarios arise. “In the recent past, there was a similar situation of CNG supply being cut, but it was restored the same day.” MGL urged industrial and commercial consumers to switch to alternative fuel in the meantime. “We are ensuring that supply to domestic PNG consumers (cooking gas) would be maintained on priority without interruption. However, CNG stations across Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai, including the dedicated CNG stations for public transport undertakings, may not operate…”
