A marriage, a secret affair, a brutal end: Inside the Sambhal killing that unfolded piece by piece
Rahul Kumar (32) – murdered after he caught his wife Ruby and her lover Gaurav Kumar

MEERUT: In a case reminiscent of Meerut’s infamous “blue drum” murder, a Sambhal shoe trader was allegedly killed, chopped and dumped piece by piece by his wife and her lover, police said on Monday. Rahul Kumar, 32, was allegedly murdered after he caught his wife Ruby and her lover Gaurav Kumar, a neighbour, in a compromising position at their home in Chandausi on the night of November 17. Both accused were arrested following the gruesome crime. The brutality and execution mirrored the Meerut case, in which a woman named Muskan and her lover Sahil stabbed ex-merchant navy officer Saurabh Rajput to death on March 4, then dismembered his body, packed the remains in a drum sealed with cement, and went on a holiday.Sambhal superintendent of police Krishan Kant Bishnoi said, “On Nov 18, Ruby (30), a housewife, filed a missing complaint, citing that her husband, 32, had gone missing. On Dec 15, we found a torso. The hands and legs were missing. Later, we found a polythene packet containing a human head in a drain. While examining the body parts, we saw the name ‘Rahul’ inked on the chest.”Bishnoi added: “We called Ruby for identification of the body parts, but she refused and disappeared, raising suspicion. Called for questioning, she confessed.”“In the night Rahul caught me and Gaurav in a compromising position, he threatened that he would defame me and throw me out of the house. At that moment, I told Gaurav to finish him off, and he struck Rahul on the head with an iron rod, while I hit him with a metal shoe-hammer, killing him on the spot,” Ruby said.“On Nov 18, we brought a grinder tool and cut his body into parts and put these in bags. On the same day, we hired a vehicle and dumped one bag containing the severed head and legs, along with Rahul’s mobile phone, into the Ganga at Rajghat. Later that night, we threw the other bag in a drain and burnt Rahul’s lower garment, and the blood-stained clothes of Gaurav and mine. We then hid the grinder tool in the nearby bushes.”Police said the couple had been married for 12 years and have an 11-year-old son, who told cops that their parents used to fight over a man who frequently visited their house. An FIR has been lodged under BNS section 103 (murder), 238 (causing disappearance of evidence, or giving false information), and 61 (criminal conspiracy).

With his growing career in baseball, his financial stability is also increasing rapidly. He has also extended his contract, which has contributed majorly to his earnings. In 2025, the estimated salary of Matt alone is approximately $26 million, as per recent reports and articles. This makes him one of the highest-paid third basemen in MLB this year. As per the news reports and article, Matt’s independent net worth for 2025 is estimated to be approximately $53 million, including his base salary, MLB contract, brand collaborations, endorsements, and other investment ventures.

Taylor Chapman’s role and personal profile

Taylor Chapman, the wife of Matt Chapman, does not have a publicly documented financial summary. Unlike her husband, who has a widely featured financial trajectory, Taylor’s financial information is barely available on public platforms and journals. As per her lifestyle and social media handles, she has pursued her career in fitness and may have a fitness-related venture or may have held roles in the personal training field and related activities. She is not really a private person; she has often shared her family pictures and lifestyle on the internet. She likes documenting her life with her husband and daughter, but information about financial earnings, business ventures, or investments is not available anywhere in the public portal. Because of this, it’s difficult to calculate or assume the financial wealth of the family, and information about Matt is only available, and we can conclude that the financial wealth of the family is primarily the earnings of Matt.

Combined wealth and family financial picture in 2025

The combined financial net worth of the Chapman family often dominated by the net worth of Matt alone, which comes from his MLB earnings, contract with the Giants, and other sources such as brand endorsements. Taylor’s financial summary is not reported anywhere publicly; therefore, the earnings of the family often depend on Matt’s earnings. Though their personality as a couple is often praised by the fans, and they often do brand collaborations together, which contribute to their financial wealth. And these endorsements are expected to increase in the coming years, as they also often share their family bond with their daughter, Gia. The Chapman family is considered an elite sports family that believes in a balance between an elite lifestyle and personal branding. The financial wealth and net worth are majorly something that come from Matt’s sports career and brand endorsements that the couple does both individually and as a couple. Microsoft sends more than 600 word advisory on H-1B/H-4 visas to employees; says: Return before your ....

Microsoft has issued an advisory for its employees on H-1B/H-4 amid the ongoing visa appointment rescheduling and stamping delays. This comes amid new social media screening, said to address the potential “abuse of the H-1B program”. Calling it a “rapidly developing situation”, the software giant has issued “preliminary guidance” for employees who are in the US and are outside the US urging them to “return before your current visa expire”. The advisory, sent by Jack Chen, Microsoft’s associate general counsel for immigration says “Rescheduling notifications are concentrated in Chennai and Hyderabad, with some unverified reports from other consulates. New dates are as far out as June 2026.”“Some employees have already traveled for appointments and received rescheduling notices without warning; others are getting notices before departure. To set expectations, it is highly unlikely emergency appointments will be granted, given the circumstances,” it adds.Microsoft says it has created a survey where employees can share their details in case they have an appointment scheduled with a US consulate. The survey, the company says, “ allows you to update your responses—for example, if you haven’t been rescheduled when you originally complete this survey, but subsequently receive a rescheduling notification.Notably, other tech giants including Apple and Google have issued similar advisory for their employees.

Microsoft’s travel advisory for H-1B/H-4 visa employees

Here’s the full text of Microsoft’s travel advisory to H-1B/H-4 visa employees sent by Jack Chen, Microsoft’s associate general counsel for immigrationUpdate #1 on H-1B/H-4 Visa Appointment Rescheduling and Stamping DelaysHi everyone,As shared yesterday, some U.S. consulates are rescheduling existing H-1B/H-4 visa appointments and pushing dates out by several months. Here’s what we know:

  • Rescheduling notifications are concentrated in Chennai and Hyderabad, with some unverified reports from other consulates. New dates are as far out as June 2026.
  • The delays stem from operational constraints tied to the new online presence review for H-1B/H-4 visas, effective December 15, which reduces daily processing capacity. We’re also hearing that these consulates needed time to implement new vetting procedures.
  • We have no confirmed reports of rescheduling for other visa types yet. While only H-1B/H-4, F, J, and M visas are subject to the online presence review, we think secondary impacts on overall processing may emerge.
  • We don’t know if rescheduling is ongoing, for those whose original visa appointments have not been changed.

Some employees have already traveled for appointments and received rescheduling notices without warning; others are getting notices before departure. To set expectations, it is highly unlikely emergency appointments will be granted, given the circumstances. This is a rapidly developing situation. Here is our preliminary guidance, which we’ll update as we learn more. Please read this next section carefully—I’ve tried to simplify it, but the details do matter:For those currently outside the U.S.:

  • You need a new visa stamp + your H-1B visa appointment was rescheduled months later: We will contact you. Please follow the instructions below to report your situation (even if you’ve already contacted AskUSI).
  • Your H-1B visa appointment was rescheduled BUT you still have some validity left on your current visa stamp: If your visa is for the proper work-authorized category, return before your current visa expires. This situation applies for people who had scheduled visa appointments because their visas are expiring soon, not before the return to the U.S. is planned.

  • You have upcoming travel + will need a new visa to return + your H-1B visa appointment was rescheduled months later: You should strongly consider changing your travel plans. You cannot return until your new visa stamp is issued, and it’s highly unlikely that the appointment can be moved earlier. And there are limitations to your ability to perform work for your U.S. role during that period. See Microsoft Global Mobility Payroll and Tax Compliance Policy.
  • You have upcoming travel + will need a new visa to return BUT your H-1B visa appointment has not been rescheduled: There is risk your appointment could be moved during your trip and result in you being stuck abroad. Factor this into your decision. We are still learning more about how widespread and significant delays are in other consulates.

For other visa categories (not H-1B/H-4, F, J, M): Proceed as planned for now, but note things can change quickly. To track real-time impacts, we need data from employees whose appointments have been rescheduled or may be soon. This will help us identify:

  • Which consulates are affected
  • When notifications of rescheduling are being sent
  • Length of delays
  • Whether other visa types are impacted

If you have a visa appointment scheduled with a U.S. consulate for any visa category, we’ve created a survey where you can share these details with us. And importantly, the survey allows you to update your responses—for example, if you haven’t been rescheduled when you originally complete this survey, but subsequently receive a rescheduling notification. This form is also the clearest way for us to identify employees who are currently outside the U.S. and cannot return until a new visa stamp is issued: Census of Upcoming Visa Stamping Appointments — Fill out formWe’ll share out insights based on these responses and further information we’re able to gather by the end of the week. For employees currently stuck abroad—we know this is an anxious moment. We will provide clear and orderly guidance to you directly as soon as we can.

This asteroid might hit moon: Scientists track asteroid 2024 YR4 |

This asteroid might hit moon: Scientists track asteroid 2024 YR4

A piece of space debris is the focus of the closest attention of astronomers worldwide as scientists evaluate a rare, but very dramatic, option. A collision of asteroid 2024 YR4, approximately 60 metres long, with the Moon in December 2032 could result in an impact visible from Earth due to the enormous force. Researchers, however, state that the probability is still very low, but the effects could go beyond a simple crater on the Moon. The hitting of such an extent can throw fragments in Earth’s vicinity that can endanger satellites and the human missions that will be there. The James Webb Space Telescope and other advanced space telescopes are anticipated to be instrumental in giving the final confirmation or negation of this case. Until that time, the asteroid is being closely monitored.

What is asteroid 2024 YR4

Asteroid 2024 YR4 was initially identified in December 2024 as part of regular sky surveys that aim to find objects close to Earth. The first observations indicated a very low probability that the asteroid would hit the Earth, but additional computations eliminated that possibility completely. When researchers determined the asteroid’s trajectory more precisely, the focus was changed from Earth to the Moon. The space rock is about 60 metres long, which is a comparably small building. While the object may look pretty small in space, such a space object can still cause a huge release of energy if it collides with a planet. It is thus large enough to draw the attention of the scientific community, in particular, because of the increasing number of satellites and the planned human missions in space.

When and where the impact could happen

At the American Geophysical Union meeting, Patrick King from Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory brought up the idea that a collision might happen on 22 December 2032. The chance of a direct hit on the Moon is reckoned to be about 4 per cent. Even though that number is quite low, it is still high enough to warrant keeping a close watch on it.Researchers’ simulations, as per their presentation, suggest that nearly 86 per cent of the impact locations are on the Moon’s near side. This is the side which is always turned towards the Earth; thus, the chance of the occurrence being seen through telescopes and maybe even by the naked eye under suitable conditions is increased. Astronomers mention that places like Hawaii and some areas of the western United States might have good viewing angles, which will depend on the Moon’s position and the weather in the locality.

How powerful would the collision be

The energy released would be enormous if asteroid 2024 YR4 hit the Moon. Researchers believe that the collision would release energy equivalent to about six million metric tonnes of TNT. In other words, the explosion would be around 400 times more potent than the atomic bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima.Although the explosion would be very large, the Moon would still be intact. Its surface would, however, be marked with a new crater, and the main issue is what would happen after the impact. A fierce collision could result in the scattering of lunar debris and fragments of the asteroid into space, some of which could be headed to the Earth.

Possible risks to satellites and astronauts

One of the main concerns tightly wrapped around the scientists’ minds is the possibility of the fast moving debris cloud formation. Even small pieces can be harmful in space, where things move at very high speeds. A wave of tiny meteorites could, for instance, threaten satellites in Earth orbit; that is, the satellites can be damaged, or their lifespans may be shortened without any visible intervention. Moreover, the welfare of future crewed missions is at stake. As space agencies plan for more trips to the moon and aim at a long term human presence off Earth, getting to grips with and controlling the risk of impacts is becoming more and more consequential. The probability of debris being able to reach the critical orbits is roughly one percent; however, experts strongly emphasise that even the slightest risk should be taken seriously.

The role of the James Webb Space Telescope

The following big milestone in getting to know asteroid 2024 YR4 will be with the James Webb Space Telescope, scheduled to scrutinise it in February 2026. These observations are anticipated to drastically change the size and the shape as well as the exact orbit of the asteroid.Astro, Webbs instruments were used in the earlier observations in March 2025, which helped the scientists to eliminate the possibility of an Earth impact, and they also obtained more accurate measurements of the asteroid. The forthcoming examination could either bolster the lunar impact scenario by adding more certainty or reject it completely. In case of a technical failure during the observation, the scientists may have to carry out their assessments with a higher degree of uncertainty; thus, it will be more difficult to make long term plans.

Why scientists are watching closely

Such an event really shows how the solar system is still a very lively and somewhat unpredictable place. Although new craters on the Moon caused by asteroids have been happening for a long time and are thus not really surprising, it would be very valuable from a scientific point of view to see such an impact happening. Such an event, although very rare, would provide a great deal of insight in the fields of impact physics, crater formation, and the behaviour of ejected materials in space.Currently, asteroid 2024 YR4 is still a “wake up call” as to why we constantly have to watch the skies and work together globally to defend the planet. Whichever way it goes, a dazzling crash on the Moon or a quiet flyby, the insights gained from its tracking will help scientists keep Earth and the expanding human presence in space safe.

NEW DELHI: EAM S Jaishankar on Tuesday announced that India has proposed a comprehensive assistance package of $450 million to support Sri Lanka’s reconstruction following Cyclone Ditwah, one of the deadliest natural disasters to hit the island nation in decades.Speaking in Colombo as a special envoy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jaishankar stated that India remains firmly committed to supporting Sri Lanka during this challenging period. “The letter from Prime Minister Modi that I handed over builds on our first responder role and commits a reconstruction package of USD 450 million to Sri Lanka,” he said.

Jaishankar Admits Foreign Policy Pressures As India Balances US, China & Russia | ‘It’s Complicated’

The announcement comes after the completion of the immediate humanitarian phase under Operation Sagar Bandhu, India’s rapid response mission launched after the cyclone, which has claimed more than 600 lives and affected millions across Sri Lanka.Jaishankar outlined the scale of India’s initial relief efforts, highlighting that Operation Sagar Bandhu delivered around 1,100 tonnes of relief material. “About 14.5 tonnes of medicines and medical equipment were also provided,” he added. He said PM Modi has directed Indian officials to work closely with the Sri Lankan government to identify and address rebuilding priorities. “Recognising the urgency of rebuilding, PM Modi directed that we now engage with the Sri Lankan government to address their priorities in that regard,” Jaishankar said.Detailing the proposed package, Jaishankar said it would include USD 350 million in concessional lines of credit and USD 100 million in grants. The assistance package, he said, is being finalised in close consultation with the Sri Lankan government to ensure the funds are channelled toward the most critical infrastructure and recovery needs. The move underscores India’s “Neighbourhood First” policy, positioning New Delhi as a first responder and long-term partner in Sri Lanka’s recovery and stability.Beyond immediate relief and reconstruction, Jaishankar said India would continue to support Sri Lanka’s economic recovery.“We will continue to encourage tourism traffic from India,” he said, describing tourism as a key pillar of Sri Lanka’s economy. He also highlighted the role of Indian investments, which could help boost Sri Lanka’s economy at a critical time.Acknowledging the scale of the crisis, Jaishankar said Sri Lanka was facing fresh challenges just as it was emerging from earlier difficulties. “Just as it was recovering from the economic crisis of 2022, this natural disaster has created new difficulties,” he said.Jaishankar arrived in Colombo on Monday evening and was received by deputy minister of tourism Ruwan Ranasinghe.Cyclone Ditwah made landfall on November 28 before looping back over the Bay of Bengal, triggering widespread flooding and landslides across Sri Lanka. The worst-hit areas include Gampaha, Colombo, Puttalam, Mannar, Trincomalee and Batticaloa, while landslides in the central hill country devastated districts such as Kandy, Badulla and Matale. Nearly 75,000 homes were damaged, including around 5,000 completely destroyed. The Sri Lankan government has announced a major compensation and rehabilitation plan, including financial assistance for families of victims, support for rebuilding homes in safer zones, and aid for education and basic household needs.
