Mumbai Lpg Cylinder Crisis: LPG cylinder crisis: Pav shortage in 4 days? 70% of Mumbai’s supply at risk | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: The city could face a shortage of pav and bread within three to four days, according to bakers. They say their situation may be “worse” than that of eating joints, as many major producers switched to gas-based ovens around six months ago and now depend heavily on fuel supplies. Of the roughly 800 bakeries across Mumbai, around 350 major ones have shifted to gas-based ovens and together supply nearly 70% of the city’s bakery needs. On average, these bakers spent about Rs 7 lakh each to install gasbased fittings and move away from wood-fired chimneys that were considered polluting.

Centre Urges Citizens To Avoid Panic Booking As India Assures Stable LPG, Fuel Supply Amid War

Khodada Irani, president of the India Bakers Association, said most of these bakeries depend on LPG cylinders. “Eighty percent of these 350 bakeries run on commercial LPG cylinders, while only 20% run on commercial PNG, the supply of which is being curtailed as a precautionary measure,” he said, adding that the remaining bakeries are mostly smaller units still using traditional ovens. “The other 450 bakeries out of the total 800, most of which are in the suburbs, run on old woodfired ovens supplied locally. They cater to only 30% of Mumbai’s supply.”Bakers said many of them had recently switched to gasbased ovens following BMC directives. “Recently, on BMC orders, many of us switched to gas-based ovens. Since bakeries like ours require continuous and high-volume fuel supply, the present irregular supply is affecting basic food items such as pav and bread that Mumbaikars rely on,” said Asif Farooqui of Azmi Bakery and Tawakkal Bakery. “Some bakers have requested permission to temporarily use their old ovens, which are intact and operational to meet the demand.”But Irani said that when one baker approached BMC officials with such a request, he was told to seek legal approval.

Rashmika Mandanna: ‘How far can people go?’: Rashmika Mandanna breaks silence on her mother’s private conversation going viral just days after her wedding |

Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Udaipur on February 16 in the presence of their family and friends. Just days after her wedding, an audio of her mother talking about the actress’ broken engagement with Rakshit Shetty went viral on the internet. Rashmika has finally broken silence on the matter and threatened a legal action stating that a private conversation of her family member was made public. While she maintained a dignified stance and did not mention any names, in her cryptic post, Rashmika shared that whatever has happened in the last 24 hours is something which crosses a line and cannot be ignored. The actress started off by saying, “To my dearest people who have been with me through this incredible journey so far, and to those concerned in this matter, it has been 8 years since a sustained campaign of misinformation, harassment and targeted attacks from a section of the media and individuals started online against me. I watched as my words have been taken out of context as words I never uttered were spun into false narratives and hate as been amplified for the sake of views, reach and engagement. All this while it pained and hurt me, I chose patience and silence. I accepted that being in the public eye sometimes comes with unfair criticism but as long as I remain true to myself and happy, spreading joy around me things will fall into place.” She further added, “However, what has happened in the last 24 hours crosses a line that can’t be ignored. An old private conversation, believed to be from nearly eight years ago appears to have been recorded and circulated without the knowledge or consent of those involved. A small portion of that conversation has now been deliberately taken out of context and circulated widely to create yet another discomforting controversy, strategically co-inciding with recent developments in my personal life. The actor expressed concern over the violation of her privacy. She stated that the circulation of the private conversation amounts to a serious breach of personal boundaries and has unnecessarily pulled in individuals who were not connected to the matter. She slammed this further and said, “How far can people go? In doing so, they have dragged my family along with people I share cordial relationships with, who have absolutely nothing to do in this matter, into discomfort. This constitutes a serious invasion of my privacy.” She further concluded by threatening legal action and said, “For eight years, while the attacks were restricted to me, I chose silence. Today, while others are being drawn into this, I cannot stay silent any longer, I choose to draw a boundary. I request all media platforms, influencers and individuals who are circulating this content or related narratives to remove them immediately. You have 24 hours from the time of this statement to do so. Failing this, starting tomorrow, appropriate legal action will be initiated.”She ended the note with a heartfelt thank you to her fans and supporters and said, “To everyone who has supported me with kindness, understanding, and love through the years, I remain deeply grateful. I love you and want you to know that random people will not and cannot dictate how we live. We choose. We have to.”

‘No question of if and when’: Pakistan says it will help Saudi Arabia even ‘before’ it needs

Senior officials in Pakistan on Wednesday said that Islamabad will come to the aid of Saudi Arabia even “before it is needed” amid the Middle East crisis due to the conflict between the joint forces of US-Israel and Iran.“The question is not whether Pakistan might come to Saudi Arabia’s aid. Both countries, even before the strategic mutual defence agreement, have operated on a principle of being there for the other before they need the other. So, there is no question that we might; we will. No matter what, no matter when,” Mosharraf Zaidi Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s aid told Bloomberg“The real question is what is Pakistan doing to make sure things don’t come to a point where any of its closest partners are further embroiled in a conflict that could potentially undermine stability and prosperity in the region,” he added.Asked how close Pakistan was to “providing military aid to Saudi Arabia”, Zaidi said that it would be “speculative and irresponsible” to comment on that.“There is no question of if and when. Whatever is needed from Pakistan vis-a-vis Saudi Arabia, Pakistan will be there before it is needed [and] similarly for Saudi Arabia,” he said.He said that Saudi Arabia “has already made arrangements to support Pakistan’s supply chain stability and in terms of oil, diesel and crude.”“I think both countries are tied to each other, formally and informally, and there’s no question of whether there would be any kind of if,” he said. This comes after Pakistan, which shares a border with Iran, signed a defence pact with Turkey and Saudi Arabia to form an “Islamic Nato.”As tensions continue to rise, with Iran maintaining its missile and drone attacks, questions are being raised about whether Islamabad’s response will go beyond verbal condemnation, given its 2025 Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement with Riyadh. The pact’s collective defence clause treats aggression against one as an attack on both, building on decades of military ties. However, its core provisions focus on conventional cooperation such as joint exercises, intelligence sharing and drones, without nuclear commitments.

How a ‘missile threat’ shut down Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan and triggered panic across Mumbai landmarks | Mumbai News

The bomb detection and dog squads carried out a search on premises

MUMBAI: All staffers at Vidhan Bhavan were evacuated from the premises on Thursday morning and a search operation was carried out after the state legislature got a “bomb and missile” threat on email. The mail came at 6.57 am, when most legislators had not arrived at the premises, officials said, adding that the budget session of the legislature later functioned as scheduled through the day.Apart from Vidhan Bhavan, the mail also mentioned the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Metro, the high court and some banks, state legislative council chairman Ram Shinde said. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and the dog squad were called in to inspect the Vidhan Bhavan premises and investigate the matter, he said.Minister of state for home Pankaj Bhoyar said prima facie the mail seemed to be a hoax, but necessary security arrangements have been made. “Since there is a war going on in the Gulf, words like missiles were used. But it was a hoax, so there is no need to panic,” he said. Bhoyar said that the police were investigating the email id where the mail had come from and also the IP address. According to the police, the threat email made mention of ‘Khalistan National Army.’ An offence has been registered against an unknown email sender at Marine Drive police station on the complaint of the security officer of Vidhan Bhavan and the matter is being probed further, police said.“On Thursday at 6:57 am, there was an email on the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) branch email id with the threat of a bomb and missile. The threat was for four other locations, so those areas too are being inspected by the police… The email also mentions timing,” Shinde said. Minister of state for home Yogesh Kadam said that the bomb squad had inspected the premises and the legislature was “completely safe.” “There is no threat of any kind here,” he said.A senior police officer said, “Threat mails have been received at the Bombay Stock Exchange, Vidhan Bhavan and the high court on Thursday morning. Adequate security measures have been taken and are in place in all the places.” He added that the necessary legal action was being taken at the respective police stations.

‘Are you scared you’ll get deported’: Two Indian-origin men clash on social media over H-1B. One of them is Texas GOP chairman

Texas GOP chairman Abraham George clashed with the founder of the Indian-American Advocacy Council Sidharth on social media over H-1B and asked the latter whether he was afraid that he would be deported. The online spat came at a time when Indian-American groups are concerned over the increasing hate against Indians in the US. The argument started after Abraham George called for an end to H-1B and said this visa program is full of fraud. “H-1B visas are full of fraud and displacing American workers. It has to stop. We must make it a legislative priority of the Texas GOP to rid our state of H-1Bs and put Texans first. #AmericaFirst,” George posted. Abraham George was born in India and came to the US when he was 16. Thousands of Indians come to the US on H-1B visas, though people from other countries too come to the US on this visa program. The current India-hatred and the attack on the H-1B visa program are going on simultaneously in MAGA circles. Texas has already taken several steps against H-1B visa abuse. The administration froze H-1B hiring is state agencies and state universities. An investigation into three H-1B firms are also going on. The administration was alerted by Texas journalist and whistleblower Sara Gonzales who did her own investigation into the alleged H-1B abuse. She visited the employers and found that there were no offices. Though many IT staffing companies hire H-1Bs for big tech companies and these staffing companies may not have their own office, everything related to the H-1B is now under scrutiny in Texas. Reacting to Abraham George’s anti-H-1B message, Indian-American community leader Sidharth said George remained silent on the xenophobic hate crisis that targeted Indian-Americans in his own state. Counting the achievements of the Indian-Americans in Texas, Sidharth said, instead of standing up against the hate targeting a community that invested billions into the Texas economy, the GOP chairman was pandering to the same crowd threatening them. “Are you scared you’ll get deported?” Abraham George replied. “Are you kidding me? Your response to take a responsible statement on the rampant racism against Indians is this?” Sidharth retorted. A major controversy broke out after an old video of an Indian-origin engineer Madhu Raju dancing at World War 2 Memorial went viral. Social media users called for his deportation accusing him of H-1B breach.

H-1B Visa employers database goes offline, key public records of last three years disappear; USCIS says sorry and we appreciate …

The public database used to track companies hiring workers on the H-1B visa programme has gone offline, reports Dallas Express. According to the publication, key search tools of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) H-1B Employer Data hub have been disabled. These tools enabled users to search and analyse visa sponsorship data. Additionally, recent datasets from the hub have also gone missing. The agency has apologised adding that it is actively working to resolve the issue. Launched in 2019, the H-1B Employer Data Hub is a public database designed to help users review information about employers participating in the H-1B visa programme – often used by tech companies to hire non-immigrant employees to work in the US. However, the report said the site’s search function and interactive map are no longer available, making it difficult to check which companies are hiring H-1B workers.

USCIS says sorry on missing H-1B visa data

According to The Dallas Express, the issue was first noticed late last week. A spokesman for the agency told the publication in an email, “We are aware that our various USCIS Employer Data Hubs are currently experiencing technical difficulties. Our team is actively working to resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we work to restore normal service.”

Key tools on H-1B data hub stop working

In its 2019 announcement on H-1B Employer Data Hub, USCIS said that the hub will allow users to search for H-1B petitioners by: Fiscal year; NAICS code; or The employer’s name, city, state, or ZIP code. “This gives you the ability to calculate approval and denial rates, and to review which employers are using the H-1B program,” the agency then wrote in a social media post.According to the Dallas Express report, the map feature that displayed the geographic distribution of H-1B employers across the United States has also been removed. In addition, the downloadable datasets section of the site does not currently include files for fiscal years 2024, 2025 or 2026. The agency had earlier said the data would be updated regularly. The affected pages are now labelled as “Archived Content,” though they also show a note saying they were “Last Reviewed/Updated: 07/01/2025.” It is not clear when the datasets were moved to archived status or whether the change is related to technical issues on the site.
