Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Friday alleged that a former Mumbai police officer, who is also deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde’s ‘sharpshooter’, is linked to the drug manufacturing unit in Jawali, Satara, that was busted earlier this month. Mumbai Police’s crime branch had busted the drug manufacturing unit operating from a farm in Jawali and seized 7.5kg of solid mephedrone (MD), 38kg of liquid MD, and large quantities of raw material used in its production. The total value of the seized contraband was estimated at Rs 115 crore. Sena (UBT) has demanded Shinde’s resignation, alleging his brother Prakash has links with the drugs manufacturing unit. Prakash owns a resort in Jawali village, which is close to a makeshift shed that housed the drugs manufacturing unit, alleged Sena (UBT) functionary Sushma Andhare.“I will take names soon,” said Raut. “The son of cabinet minister Bharat Gogawale is absconding and even though his anticipatory bail has been rejected, he cannot be found. If you want to know where he is, I will tell the police…A Congress worker was attacked with the intention of murder during the Mahad municipal elections and the police continued to help him…”“A minister in the state goes missing, I am talking about (Manikrao) Kokate. He is not found for 48 hours, is this the police system or the BJP’s gang in khaki?” Raut said.
