The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 have had an excellent start, with twice the 200+ runs being chased down in the last two matches. In match no.3, Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Basarpara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. The RR vs CSK game was a low-scoring one compared to the first two matches.

After a rain ahead of the game, the RR captain Riyan Parag won the toss and elected to field first. It was all RR pacers in the power play; the duo of Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger dismantled the CSK top order with the latter picking up two wickets, dismissing Sanju Samson and Ayush Mhatre in the span of two deliveries.

Lahore Qalandars fines Shaheen Shah Afridi over security concerns

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 has already started, and there has been controversy that is revolving around defending champions Lahore Qalandars since last night. Now the franchise have fined Shaheen Shah Afridi INR 10 lakhs for violating security protocols. The team captain has been involved in some security breaches ahead of the game against the Karachi Kings.

According to a letter from the Punjab Police to PSL CEO Salman Naseer, Afridi and Zimbabwe Sikandar Raza were accused of “forcefully escorting” people to Raza’s room, which violated security regulations.

Sikandar Raza defended Shaheen Shah Afridi

The letter stated how, after PCB security personnel and then Qalandars owner Sameen Rana declined pleas to permit the visits, the pair ignored the refusals and escorted the visitors despite security staff resistance.

However, Raza responded to claims of a security violation involving him and Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah Afridi during the Pakistan Super League. The allegations involved four “unauthorised” individuals getting access to the team’s hotel room.

Raza denied the allegations against Afridi, claiming that the four guests were close family members and long-time friends, and that Shaheen Shah Afridi was merely helping him by bringing them to his room at Raza’s request.

Shaheen Shah Afridi had no connection with the breaches

Raza also stated that he was with Shaheen Shah Afridi in the lift and that no aggressive escort occurred. He further mentioned that his visitors, some of whom he has known for 19 years, included his wife and children, whom he rarely sees due to their permanent presence in Pakistan.

Previously, sources within the Lahore Qalandars confirmed the visit’s basic details but denied any forced admission. The police letter, which was posted on social media, also stated that the guests stayed in the room for three hours, contradicting Raza’s assertion about a 40-minute visit.

Umar Farooq, media head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), reported to ESPNCricinfo that the board was aware of the situation involving the two players and was collaborating with the PSL on the issue.

Lahore Qalandars apologised to PSL

Lahore Qalandars provided a detailed statement to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The franchise acknowledged the significance of the situation, but claimed it was a misunderstanding rather than a purposeful violation of security rules.

The Lahore Qalandars acknowledged the importance of security personnel in maintaining a safe atmosphere for players, officials, and fans. They expressed gratitude. The franchise apologised for the negative impact on the Lahore Qalandars’ and the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) reputation caused by the incident.

Lahore Qalandars and Shaheen Shah Afridi cannot stay away from the controversy, as during the match against Karachi Kings, Qalandars opener Fakhar Zaman was caught tamoering the ball. Though he has denied the charges, there was a five-run penalty given to Karachi Kings, and the ball was also changed.

Fakhar Zaman might be handed a two-match ban. There have been two rounds of meetings following the incident. However, no actions have been taken place over the player.

Ruturaj Gaikwad points at batting collapse after humilating loss vs RR in IPL 2026

It was an utterly disappointing night for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The batting unit simply did not work on the tricky surface of the Barsapara Stadium. The toss could be a factor, but the team, with so many talents inside the line-up, could have done a lot better. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad knows it very well. He did not blame anyone for the disappointing result; he just wanted to move on from that moment.

Like the winning team captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad also mentioned that the toss played a huge role in the result of the match. As there was moisture on the wicket, the pacers of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) got to move the ball with bounce as well. Later, as the match progressed, the turf went in favor of the batter.

CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad mentioned the condition of the pitch

CSK skipper mentioned that he was not frustrated, as it was very hard to bat with and maintain the T20 standards on the pitch. But acknowledged that they could have taken the innings deeper to get at least 150 runs on the board.

Your daily dose of cricket!

next

“I felt the conditions at the start were really tough, especially when facing Jofra and Burger. They bowled brilliant lengths, and even after that, to a medium-pacer, it was slightly tough. You could see even the spinners were getting some assistance as well,” Ruturaj Gaikwad said.

“Yes, we would have been better in batting, we would have taken the game deep, showed some batsmanship, maybe take the game till 150-160. But nowadays, you never know what’s a good score, so you just have to keep going. So I think it was just one of those days where the wicket was slightly on the tougher side. So not frustrated at all”, he added further.

Gaikwad finds some positivity in the result

In between a lot of setbacks in one single match, the experienced batter pointed out a positive sign- the team is filled with multiple young players. As they get more experience, the result will come their way, Gaikwad believes.

“One good thing is, a lot of youngsters in the group. So, probably a nervy start for everyone, but good to get a game behind and good to start with a lot of mistakes. Hopefully, it will be just an improvement after here,” Ruturaj Gaikwad asserted.

The captain is hopeful to see progress in the near future

“I’m someone who’s not a firm believer in going all the way. But with the impact player, you never really know what the good score is or what the par score is. So you don’t really often see games going down the line till the 20th over when you’re defending 150, 160, or 170. So I think it’s just about backing yourself, backing your game for the batsmen.”

“If you have it in your area, just make sure you go for it. Today it didn’t work, but we can be better at batsmanship. You just have to be positive, especially when you’re batting first. If conditions are good, you never know, the same batting line-up can put a good score,” Ruturaj Gaikwad concluded.

However, for the opening match of the season, there were some notable guests in the stadium to witness the Lahore Qalandars vs Hyderabad Kingsmen at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was among the notable guests in the gallery to watch the match live.

Maryam interacted with players of both teams as well. She came to the ground with a heavy set of protocols, which might have annoyed Naseem Shah very much. In a sense of criticizing the top policy of the nation, the fast bowler of Pakistan wrote on his ‘X’ post, “Why is she treated like the queen at Lord’s?”

Naseem removed the post

As soon as he realized the act post could cause severe backlashes, he removed it from its timeline, citing that his profile had been hacked for a while. His excuses did not melt the ice as the Pakistan Cricket Board soon issued a statement, accusing the star pacer of breaching the code of conduct.

It is worth mentioning that Maryam Nawaz is the daughter of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the niece of current Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

According to an ESPN report, “It appears to do with clause 2.23 of the PCB’s code of conduct. It states that any “public criticism of, or inappropriate comment in relation to the Board, any of its officials or sponsors or policies, the ICC or any of its officers or sponsors, Player, Player Support Personnel or Match Officials including umpires and match referees, irrespective of when such criticism or inappropriate comment is made” is not permitted.”

PCB issued strict actions against Naseen Shah

According to the latest updates regarding the controversial act of Naseem Shah, the cricket governing board of Pakistan has fined Naseem Shah PKR 2 crore for breaching the central contract and social media guidelines. It is further claimed that the accused pacer has made an unconditional apology after the disciplinary proceedings.

Additionally, taking a step further, and to prevent any unnecessary stance on social media in the future, Naseem Shah’s social media adviser has been terminated and will be blacklisted from working with any contracted player, according to the latest reports.

IPL 2026 [WATCH]: Sherfane Rutherford’s dance leaves MI camp in splits after thrilling win over KKR

Mumbai Indians kicked off their IPL 2026 campaign in style with a commanding victory over Kolkata Knight Riders at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. In what turned out to be a high-scoring thriller, MI successfully chased down a daunting 221-run target with remarkable ease, sending a strong message early in the tournament.

The foundation of the chase was laid by a sensational opening stand between Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton. The duo stitched together a massive partnership, putting the KKR bowlers under immense pressure right from the start. Rohit led from the front with a fluent knock, while Rickelton matched him stroke for stroke, ensuring Mumbai remained well ahead of the required rate.

Their efforts not only secured a memorable win but also helped Mumbai Indians break a long-standing trend of slow starts in IPL seasons.

Sherfane Rutherford’s dance steals the show in dressing room celebrations

While the action on the field thrilled fans, it was a light-hearted moment inside the MI dressing room that truly stole the spotlight. West Indies all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford, playing his first game for Mumbai Indians in the IPL, became the centre of attention during the post-match celebrations.

Rutherford was awarded the “Best Fielder” medal by MI owner Nita Ambani for his efforts on the field. As she handed over the award, Mrs Ambani added a fun twist to the moment, referencing the vibrant Caribbean culture.

“Rutherford, I have to tell you, whenever the West Indians win anything, they dance,” she said, drawing laughter from the squad.

Responding with a smile, Rutherford cheekily pointed towards MI’s batting coach Kieron Pollard, suggesting that he should take the lead on the dance floor. Pollard, known for his own energetic celebrations in the past, quickly brushed it off with a witty reply.

“Been there, done that. It’s him now,” Pollard remarked, indicating that it was Rutherford’s moment to shine.

Encouraged by the team, Rutherford didn’t disappoint. He broke into a short yet entertaining dance move that instantly lifted the mood in the dressing room. His performance left everyone in splits, with teammates like Tilak Varma and Rohit visibly enjoying the moment. The clip of Rutherford’s dance has since gone viral on social media, with fans loving the camaraderie and joyful atmosphere within the MI camp.

KKR eligible for refund? Former opener questions Cameron Green’s role after bowling snub in IPL 2026 clash against MI

Kolkata Knight Riders’ high-profile signing of Cameron Green for a record ₹25.20 crore has quickly become a talking point in IPL 2026, but not for the reasons the franchise would have hoped. The Australian all-rounder, acquired for his dual skill set, did not bowl in KKR’s opening game against Mumbai Indians, raising eyebrows among fans and experts alike.

On the field, Green had a modest start to his KKR career, scoring a quick 18 off 10 balls on debut. However, his contribution wasn’t enough to prevent KKR from suffering a defeat after failing to defend a daunting total of 220 at the Wankhede Stadium.

While he did not bowl, Green looked sharp in the field, displaying good athleticism and a strong arm from the deep, indicating that his overall fitness may not be a major concern.

Former opener questions Cameron Green’s antics of not bowling in the IPL 2026 match against MI

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra did not hold back in expressing his concerns over Green’s limited role. Taking to social media, Chopra pointed out the imbalance between what KKR paid and what they received on the field.

He argued that if a franchise spends heavily on an all-rounder but ends up using him only as a batter, it raises valid concerns about value for money. Chopra even went on to suggest that teams should be entitled to some form of “refund” if a player is unable to deliver the complete package they were bought for.

“If you pay for an all-rounder and get a batsman in return… you should be, at the very least, eligible for a refund,” Chopra said in a video shared on X.

Captain Ajinkya Rahane deflects responsibility

KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane faced the inevitable question after the team’s defeat but chose to distance himself from the situation. When asked why Green wasn’t handed the ball, Rahane stated that such queries should be directed towards Cricket Australia rather than the team management. His response hinted that the decision may not have been entirely in KKR’s control, fueling speculation about underlying fitness concerns.

Putting an end to the uncertainty, Cricket Australia confirmed that Green is currently managing a lower back injury. According to an official statement, the all-rounder has been advised to temporarily refrain from bowling as part of his recovery process. The board further revealed that Green is gradually rebuilding his bowling workload and is expected to return to full all-round duties within 10 to 12 days. Importantly, KKR management had been informed about this development beforehand, suggesting there was no miscommunication between the franchise and the player’s national board.

Interestingly, Green had initially registered for the IPL 2026 auction as a specialist batter. This created confusion around his availability as an all-rounder. The Australian later clarified that it was an error made by his management and reassured teams that he would be fit to bowl.

WATCH: Rinku Singh grabs attention with hilarious bat theft antics after MI vs KKR IPL 2026 clash

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 has officially kicked off with the high-octane energy fans have come to expect, but the early headlines aren’t just about the towering sixes. On Sunday, the historic Wankhede Stadium played host to the season’s second match, a heavyweight clash between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). While the atmosphere inside the stadium was electric with rivalry, the post-match scene painted a different, much more humorous picture of the ‘Gentleman’s Game.’

Rinku Singh adds comic twist with ‘bat theft’ post high-voltage IPL 2026 showdown

In the world of cricket, a player’s bat is their most prized possession, but for KKR’s finisher Rinku Singh, it seems to be a shared commodity. Following the intense battle at Wankhede, a video shared by the Mumbai Indians’ media team captured a moment of pure gold that has since set social media ablaze.

The footage shows a group of elite willow-watchers, including Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Rinku, huddled together. They were closely inspecting a bat belonging to KKR’s explosive New Zealander, Finn Allen, who had earlier dismantled the KKR attack. As the trio tested the ping and balance of the blade, Rinku’s curiosity seemingly turned into acquisition.

In a flash of comedic timing that rivalled his batting reflexes, Rinku grabbed the bat and sprinted toward the dressing room. A bewildered Tilak was heard shouting for its return while Suryakumar doubled over in laughter. This isn’t Rinku’s first heist; fans quickly recalled his famous attempt to walk off with Sanju Samson’s bat during an India-West Indies series. The ‘Bat Thief of Aligarh’ has clearly struck again, proving that while the competition is fierce, the camaraderie remains the heartbeat of the IPL.

MI breaks opening match jinx in IPL 2026 against KKR

In what will be remembered as a ‘where were you’ moment for MI fans, the five-time champions finally ended a staggering 14-year drought by winning their season opener for the first time since 2012. Facing an imposing target of 221 runs set by the Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai didn’t just break their slow starter jinx—they demolished it. The victory, secured by six wickets with five balls to spare, now stands as the biggest successful chase in Mumbai Indians’ history, surpassing their previous record of 219 against CSK in 2021.

The chase was a masterclass in modern T20 power-hitting. Rohit Sharma rolled back the years with a vintage 78 off just 38 balls, while South African sensation Ryan Rickelton announced himself on the global stage with a blistering 81 off 43 deliveries. Together, they forged a massive 148-run opening stand that silenced the KKR bowling attack. Earlier in the evening, despite a valiant 67 from KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane and a late surge from Rinku, MI’s Shardul Thakur proved to be the “man with the golden arm,” picking up 3/39 to keep the target within reach. By crossing the finish line on March 29, 2026, Hardik Pandya’s men have officially closed a chapter of seasonal disappointment and signaled a new, aggressive era for the Blue and Gold.

IPL 2026: Fans go berserk as clinical Rajasthan Royals thump Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati

Rajasthan Royals (RR) delivered a commanding performance to defeat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 8 wickets in Match 3 of IPL 2026 at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Rajasthan executed their plans to perfection, restricting CSK to a modest total before chasing it down with ease.

The match never quite reached a competitive balance, as Rajasthan controlled proceedings from the outset. Their bowlers dismantled the CSK batting lineup, and the batters ensured there were no hiccups during the chase.

This comprehensive victory not only gives Rajasthan early momentum in the tournament but also raises serious concerns for CSK, who struggled in all departments.

CSK collapse as RR bowlers run riot

Put in bat first, CSK endured a nightmare outing, getting bowled out for just 127 in 19.4 overs. The innings never gained momentum, with wickets falling at regular intervals.

Sanju Samson, playing as a batter, showed brief resistance with 67, but lacked support from the rest of the lineup. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad struggled to find rhythm, managing only 6 runs, while other batters failed to make meaningful contributions.

The Rajasthan bowling attack was relentless. Jofra Archer struck early blows, removing key batters and setting the tone. Nandre Burger complemented him brilliantly, picking up crucial wickets and maintaining pressure.

Spinners also played a vital role. Ravi Bishnoi and Ravindra Jadeja ensured that CSK never built partnerships, choking the run flow in the middle overs.

Despite a late cameo from Jamie Overton, CSK failed to recover, ending with a below-par total that always looked insufficient on a good batting surface.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi lead RR’s easy chase

Chasing 128, RR made light work of the target, finishing at 128/2 in just 12.1 overs. The chase was defined by aggressive intent and smart shot selection.

Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal anchored the innings with an unbeaten 38, ensuring stability at the top. However, the real fireworks came from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who played a stunning knock of 52 off just 17 balls, dismantling the CSK bowling attack.

The duo added a rapid 75-run partnership that effectively sealed the match within the powerplay phase. Their aggressive approach put CSK on the back foot early, leaving little room for a comeback.

Although CSK managed to pick up two wickets through Anshul Kamboj, the damage had already been done. Captain Riyan Parag calmly finished the chase alongside Jaiswal, ensuring there were no late twists.

IPL 2026: “Ghar ki yaad nahi aayi” – Ravindra Jadeja’s ‘gun’ celebration after dismissing Shivam Dube sparks Dhurandhar memes

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season has only just begun, but it has already delivered a moment that fans won’t forget anytime soon. Ravindra Jadeja, returning to Rajasthan Royals (RR) after a long and successful stint with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), made an instant impact – both with the ball and with a celebration that quickly went viral.

It wasn’t just about the wickets; it was about the story behind them. Facing his former team after 13 years, Jadeja looked determined to make a statement. And when the opportunity came, he grabbed it with both hands.

Ravindra Jadeja steals the show with his ‘gun celebration’

CSK were already under pressure after a shaky start. Early wickets had left them struggling, and the scoreboard read 46/3 when Jadeja was introduced into the attack. What followed was a game-changing spell that shifted the momentum firmly in Rajasthan’s favour.

On just his second delivery, Jadeja struck. Sarfaraz Khan was trapped LBW for 17, and despite a review, the decision stood. It was a breakthrough, but Jadeja was far from done.

Next came Shivam Dube – a former teammate and a known power-hitter. Dube wasted no time, launching Jadeja for a massive six over long-on, sending a clear message. But Jadeja responded in style. The very next ball, he tossed it up wider outside off, tempting Dube into another big shot.

This time, the risk didn’t pay off. Dube mistimed it, and Ravi Bishnoi completed a simple catch at long-off.

Two wickets in three balls. Just like that, Jadeja had flipped the script.

Jadeja’s celebration goes viral as fans react with Dhurandhar memes

If the wickets electrified the stadium, what followed set social media on fire.

Instead of his iconic sword celebration, Jadeja pulled out a bold ‘gun’ gesture – pretending to fire at the departing batter. What made it even more dramatic was a frame that appeared to show him directing the gesture toward the CSK dugout, adding a layer of emotion and intensity to the moment.

Here’s the video:

Given his long association with CSK, the gesture felt symbolic. Jadeja had spent over a decade in yellow, winning multiple titles and becoming one of the franchise’s most dependable players. Now, wearing pink again, he seemed to be sending a message – this was a new chapter.

The internet didn’t take long to react. Fans quickly linked the moment to the viral dialogue:
“Ghar ki yaad nahi aayi tujhe Jassi.”

The reference to the popular film Dhurandhar: The Revenge spread like wildfire, with memes flooding social media platforms. Within minutes, Jadeja’s celebration became one of the most talked-about moments of IPL 2026.

The backstory only added to the drama. Jadeja began his IPL journey with RR in 2008 under Shane Warne and was part of their title-winning squad. After years with CSK, the 2026 auction saw a major shake-up, with Sanju Samson moving to Chennai, while Jadeja returned to Rajasthan along with Sam Curran.

With emotions running high, this clash was always going to be special – but Jadeja ensured it became unforgettable.

On the field, his performance was equally impressive. He finished with figures of 2 wickets for just 18 runs in 3 overs, maintaining tight control and breaking crucial partnerships. CSK, meanwhile, struggled to recover and were eventually bowled out for 127.

WATCH: Nandre Burger produces jaffa to clean up Sanju Samson during RR vs SRH clash in IPL 2026

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 continues to deliver unforgettable moments, and one of the most jaw-dropping came during the clash between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

Nandre Burger stuns Sanju Samson with a dream delivery

In a moment that silenced the crowd, RR pacer Nandre Burger produced a stunning delivery to dismiss Sanju Samson for just six runs on his debut outing for CSK. What was expected to be a big occasion for Samson quickly turned into a nightmare, as Burger’s brilliance stole the spotlight.

Opening the batting in new colours, Samson looked cautious early on, perhaps still settling into the role. But in the second over, Burger charged in and delivered a ball that every fast bowler dreams of.

Clocked at 140.2 kmph, the delivery pitched on a good length and subtly moved away after pitching. Samson, looking to flick it toward the leg side, misread the line completely. The ball zipped past his bat and crashed into the off stump, sending the bails flying.

There was no reaction from Samson for a moment – just disbelief. His feet stayed planted, his bat nowhere near the ball. It was the kind of delivery that leaves even the best batters helpless, and Burger knew it immediately, celebrating what could already be one of the balls of the tournament.

CSK collapse after Samson’s early departure

Samson’s early departure wasn’t just another wicket – it marked the end of an incredible streak. Since 2020, the wicketkeeper-batter had scored a fifty or more in every IPL season opener, consistently setting the tone for his team year after year.

From a blazing 74 in 2020 to a century in 2021 and multiple fifties in the seasons that followed, Samson had built a reputation for starting strong. But IPL 2026 told a different story. His score of 6 (7) not only ended the streak but also highlighted how quickly fortunes can change in T20 cricket.

The context made the moment even more dramatic. Samson was facing his former franchise, RR, a team he had represented for over a decade and led as captain. Having moved to CSK in a high-profile trade involving Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran, there was immense anticipation around his debut.

Instead, it was Burger who owned the narrative.
