Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge: The Untold Stories Behind The Biggest Blockbuster

From ‘same faces’ to a casting revolution

Chhabra, who began his journey with Rang De Basanti (2006), recalled how casting in Bollywood has undergone a massive shift over the years.“They used to cast the same three people in every film—same villain, same right hand, same mother, same sister, same driver. Now the audience gets to see so many new actors and faces,” he said.He pointed out that today, “every single director in Bollywood, even the big directors making commercial films, has a casting director,” marking a significant evolution in storytelling.

‘I don’t find talent on Instagram’

At a time when the industry is debating influencer-led casting, Chhabra drew a clear line.“We keep recording data. But I only focus on a film once I get a script. I personally don’t find talent through Instagram,” he said, emphasising his reliance on auditions and grassroots scouting.

Many actors rejected Rehman Dakait‘s role

For Dhurandhar 2, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, the casting process was anything but straightforward.“We were discussing so many actors’ names for the film, but they kept saying no, because they didn’t want to be part of an ensemble film,” Chhabra revealed, recalling the struggle to cast key roles like the antagonist Rehman Dakait. He added, “Sometimes you don’t have to create a look for an actor,” stressing the importance of natural fit over cosmetic transformation. Interestingly, after the film’s release, several actors who had declined roles reached out again—this time with regret. One of the biggest casting wins came with Akshaye Khanna.“Akshaye Khanna’s name came towards the end… when I first called him, he said, ‘Are you mad?’ But I told him to at least hear the story. After the narration, he said ‘Fantastic!’ and confirmed within the day,” Chhabra shared.Similarly, R Madhavan came on board almost instantly.“I told him, trust me, we need only 10–12 days… he immediately said yes. He brought an authority to his performance. There is no action—he speaks calmly and never loses control,” he said.

‘I don’t think about acting, only casting’

Chhabra’s philosophy remains distinct.“I don’t think about acting. I only think about casting for my character. If the acting is not that great but the actor is correct for my part, I will go with that actor,” he explained. That instinct extended to Dhurandhar 2, where he pushed for exhaustive casting.“I wanted to cast every single person on screen… my team spent two years auditioning and casting over 300 people for the film,” he revealed.

Finding fresh faces: Sara Arjun

The film also became a platform for discovering new talent, including Sara Arjun.“When I saw her audition, I went mad. The scene where she confronts Ranveer Singh about being an Indian agent—that was her audition,” he said.Today, as Dhurandhar 2 becomes both a box-office and cultural phenomenon, the spotlight is firmly on casting as a craft.More about ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film features Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Rakes Bedi, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun in key role. The star cast also includes Danish Pandor, Gaurav Gera, Mustafa Ahmed, Danish Iqbal, Saumya Tandon, and more.It was released in theaters on March 19, 2026.

‘Bulls are being slaughtered for selfish reasons’: On farewell day, Devendra Fadnavis praises Uddhav Thackeray, Eknath Shinde takes dig | Mumbai News

Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde exchanged veiled remarks in the Maharashtra Legislative Council on Tuesday, as the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader was given a farewell marking the end of his term.

MUMBAI: Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde exchanged veiled remarks in the Maharashtra legislative council on Tuesday, as the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader was given a farewell marking the end of his term.Shinde initiated the farewell motion, addressing his former party chief as “Uddhav saheb Thackeray” and saying there are no full-stops in politics, while extending his wishes. The two leaders have avoided naming each other directly since their split in June 2022, when Shinde rebelled against Thackeray’s leadership, leading to the fall of the latter’s government.During his remarks, Shinde appeared to draw a contrast with Thackeray while speaking about deputy chairperson Neelam Gorhe, saying she was not born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Both Shinde and Gorhe had worked under the leadership of Bal Thackeray. In his response, Thackeray made a cryptic remark, saying, “Bulls are being slaughtered for selfish reasons.”The comment was seen as an oblique reference to a controversy involving self-styled godman Ashok Kharat, who was recently arrested for allegedly raping a woman on the pretext of performing rituals. Photographs of Shinde visiting a temple built by Kharat in Nashik had surfaced after the arrest.Leaders of the Sena (UBT) have also previously alleged that bulls were sacrificed at a temple in Guwahati when Shinde and his faction travelled to Assam following the 2022 split. The council also bid farewell to several other members, including Gorhe, Amol Mitkari, Shashikant Shinde, Rajesh Rathod, and BJP leaders Dadarao Keche, Sanjay Kanekar, Ranjeet Sinh Mohite-Patil and Sandeep Joshi.

Temperament was not like that of a typical politician: Fadnavis

Earlier, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis recalled his long association with Thackeray, dating back to their alliance when the undivided Shiv Sena and the BJP were partners.“We developed friendship. I will not say it is not there (now),” Fadnavis said.He added that Thackeray’s temperament was not like that of a typical politician.“Many a time he (Thackeray) is seen clashing, launching a strong attack, counter attack. But this is not his original temperament. His original temperament is measured and maintaining relations,” he said.In his farewell speech, Thackeray responded, “If you knew me so well then why did you hold someone else’s hand,” referring to the BJP’s alliance with Shinde after the 2022 split. Thackeray also called for the appointment of Leaders of Opposition in both houses of the state legislature, despite the opposition lacking the required numbers. The six-year term of the members ends in May, and the farewell took place on the penultimate day of the ongoing budget session.

With the war entering its 25th day of tensions in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have reportedly taken tentative steps that could draw them closer to the Iran conflict, pointing to a potential escalation in the region.According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, Saudi Arabia has agreed to grant the US military access to King Fahd Air Base — a notable shift after previously saying its territory would not be used for strikes against Iran.

The report also said the UAE has moved against Iranian-linked assets, shutting down an Iranian-owned hospital and club, a step seen as curbing support networks tied to Tehran.Separately, videos cited by the newspaper appeared to show missiles used in attacks on Iran being launched from Bahrain, suggesting a broader regional footprint in the conflict. The US military, however, declined to comment on whether it is receiving assistance from regional partners.Markets reacted swiftly, with crude oil prices inching higher while US stock-index futures gave up earlier gains. The moves by Washington’s Gulf allies signal growing frustration with Iran, which has retaliated against US and Israeli strikes by targeting sites across neighbouring countries. Israel’s recent attack on an Iranian gas field triggered counterstrikes by Tehran on energy infrastructure across the Middle East.US President Donald Trump has since rebuked Israel, which later said it would avoid targeting energy facilities. Trump also indicated he was holding off on striking Iran’s energy sector for five days, citing “major points of agreement” with Tehran.Amid the tensions, Axios reported that US envoy Steve Witkoff was in talks with Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf. Ghalibaf denied any negotiations, while Iranian state media said Washington had attempted indirect outreach in recent days but received no response from Tehran.

In the exciting realm of cinematic transformations, Mashhoor Amrohi, the talented grandson of Kamal Amrohi, is turning heads with his stunning portrayal of a character reminiscent of Nawaz Sharif in the much-anticipated ‘Dhurandhar 2’. Utilizing remarkable prosthetics and makeup techniques, his metamorphosis has not only dazzled moviegoers but also ignited a frenzy of discussions across social media platforms.

Mashhoor Amrohi recently grabbed headlines for his brief yet impactful appearance as Nawab Shafiq in ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, popularly dubbed ‘Dhurandhar 2’. Despite featuring in just a couple of scenes, his uncanny resemblance to a character inspired by Nawaz Sharif sparked a wave of memes and online discussions, leaving audiences curious about the man behind the role.

Who is Mashhoor Amrohi?

Born into a legacy of cinema, Mashhoor Amrohi is the grandson of legendary filmmaker Kamal Amrohi. Despite his strong film lineage, he chose to build his career away from the spotlight, gradually working his way through the industry.

Apart from acting, Mashhoor has also explored filmmaking, working behind the camera as a director and writer. Over the years, he has appeared in projects like ‘War’, ‘Accused’, and ‘Freedom at Midnight’, taking on diverse roles and steadily honing his craft. While many of his performances went under the radar, they contributed to shaping his versatility as an actor. Known for his understated presence, Mashhoor has largely stayed away from mainstream attention—until his recent breakout moment.

More about his performance in ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge

Amrohi’s recent performance, however, has placed him firmly in the spotlight. The response to his transformation has been overwhelming, even for the actor himself. Speaking about the attention to Mid-Day, Mashhoor shared, “For me, the biggest compliment is that nobody believes it is me. Some are saying that it’s AI. I had not anticipated this kind of adulation. There are memes and pictures all over the internet.” This disbelief among viewers highlights just how convincing his portrayal turned out to be.Interestingly, Mashhoor does not naturally resemble the political figure his character draws inspiration from. Director Aditya Dhar and casting director Mukesh Chhabra envisioned him in the role. Achieving that look required hours of effort and precision.Recalling the process, he said, “When we sat for the first make-up test, we didn’t quite achieve what the director wanted. We had to depict the [same] body weight, face, and ageing. Preetisheel went all out, I sat through more than eight hours of make-up daily for four days. For the weight, I had a bodysuit with a paunch.”

Bombay high court dismisses petition challenging Narendra Mehta’s election victory | Mumbai News

Mumbai: The Bombay high court on Tuesday dismissed an election petition that challenged the victory of BJP Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Narendra Mehta, 54, in the 2024 polls from Mira-Bhayandar constituency in Maharashtra. Justice Sharmila Deshmukh held that the petition by Nayana Vasani lacks necessary specific details mandated under law when challenging an election.Mehta, declared elected on Nov 23, 2024 as MLA of the Mira-Bhayander constituency, through his advocate Amogh Singh, argued for dismissal of the petition filed last year.Balkrishna Joshi, Vasani’s counsel, argued for quashing of the election on two grounds, one of which was “improper acceptance” of Mehta’s nomination over “suppression of criminal cases” pending against him and non-disclosure of details of assets, which constitutes corrupt practice under the Representation of People Act.The HC, in a detailed 29-page ruling, said the law requires specifics of the allegations against the elected representative. “The burden is necessarily on the party who approaches the Court seeking the relief that the election be declared void. There is no right to challenge the election outside the statute and there has to be strict compliance of the statutory provisions,” said Justice Deshmukh, adding that the petitioner is not only required to point out the suppression and the elected representative tasked with furnishing the necessary details. “Absence of material facts to substantiate the suppression would constitute non-compliance of Section 83(1)(b) of RP Act. Non-disclosure of a cause of action would entail rejection of the petition.”The HC held that the election petition was “bereft” of pleadings that demonstrate improper acceptance of the nomination form affected the poll result. The petition against Mehta said he suppressed two FIRs for 2020 and 2022. Mehta’s counsel argued that the law requires disclosure of criminal offences in which charge has been framed by a court or where there is conviction. The HC said the petition “falls short of the specific pleading in order to constitute cause of action for corrupt practice. Section 83(1)(b) demands furnishing of full particulars of corrupt practice. As to what would constitute material facts in case of corrupt practice would depend on facts of each case and in present case, considering that Form 26 prescribed furnishing of details of pending criminal cases, it was necessary to plead about the status of the two FIRs and to produce material to demonstrate the pendency of the two FIRs on the date of filing of affidavit. The petition does not even contain a bare assertion that two FIRs are pending against the applicant, leave aside setting out the status of the FIRs to show pendency.”

Uddhav Thackeray: Uddhav cites 1988 scenario, seeks LoP appointment | Mumbai News

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday urged CM Devendra Fadnavis to allow appointment of leader of the opposition in the state legislature.Citing the example of Vithalrao Hande of Peasants and Workers Party, who served as leader of the opposition in the legislative council from 1988-1990 despite not having the requisite number of members, Thackeray said in his farewell address to the council, “I would urge you to check the numbers and if I am right, I appeal to you to do [now] what was done then. The post has been vacant since Aug 2025 in the council and since Dec 2024 in the assembly. In both Houses, no single opposition party has hit the threshold of having 10% of the total strength. The council held a farewell ceremony for eight other members who are set to retire in May—deputy chairperson Neelam Gorhe, NCP (SP)’s Shashikant Shinde and Amol Mitkar, and BJP’s Ranjitsinh Mohite-Patil, Dadarao Keche, Sanjay Kinekar and Sandip Joshi, Congress’s Rajesh Rathod. Recounting the achievements of the MVA govt led by him, Thackeray said the work done during the pandemic, especially in a slum like Dharavi, was termed as ‘the Mumbai model’ and was acknowledged by WHO. He said he ensured waiver of farm loans of up to Rs 2 lakh without anyone asking for it. “And then Covid happened, and we could not give the incentive that’s being given now.” He said work on all infrastructure projects continued during the pandemic.Fadnavis likened Thackeray to his father, the late Balasaheb Thackeray, saying his core nature was not of a typical politician. “If he takes a decision, he doesn’t back out,” he said in his address. Thackeray said the CM had described him aptly, adding that his nature is that of an artist. Deputy CM Eknath Shinde wished him good health and a long life. Thackeray threw a jab at them: “Aisi kaun si baat thi kisi aur ka haath pakadna pada (what was it that made you hold someone else’s hand?)”
