Forest min: No law on releasing of domestic animals into wild | Mumbai News

Mumbai: Forest minister Ganesh Naik on Wednesday told the Legislative Assembly that the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, does not provide for deliberately releasing domestic animals into the habitat of wild animals and providing them with food. Naik said there is no scientific or legal basis that simply providing artificial food will completely stop human-wildlife conflict. Naik said there are provisions regarding the protection, management and habitat conservation of wild animals under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. Naik was replying to questions raised by MLA Shirish Kumar Naik. In Dec 2205, Naik had announced a plan to address the rise in leopard attacks on humans in the state: releasing goats into forests to prevent the animals from entering human settlements in search of prey. Naik had made the statement during a calling attention motion on leopard attacks, which was discussed at the legislature’s Winter Session in Nagpur. Shirish Kumar Naik had asked if forest department officials have been ordered to release 1 crore goats and sheep in leopard-dominated areas in the state to prevent leopards from entering human settlements and if a scheme of buying goats and sheep and releasing them into the forest is permanently viable. “Section 9 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 prohibits hunting of scheduled wild animals. Also, artificial interference with the natural behavior of wild animals is not in keeping with the basic principles..The behavior of wild animals depends on many factors. Habitat disturbance, prey availability, human interference, etc. There is no scientific or legal basis that simply providing artificial food will completely stop human-wildlife conflict,” Ganesh Naik said. “Under Section 11, if there is a serious threat to human life, capture/relocation may be ordered by the competent authorities. Capturing leopards through trained teams and releasing them into their natural habitats as appropriate. Habitat improvement, natural prey enhancement. Public awareness, emergency response teams..Procedures for providing immediate financial assistance to victims, etc. All the above measures are implemented within the framework of the law and in accordance with the guidelines of the central govt,” Ganesh Naik said in his written reply.“If four people are killed in leopard attacks, the state govt has to pay Rs 1 crore in compensation. So, instead of paying compensation after deaths, I told officials to release goats worth Rs 1 crore into the forest so that leopards do not venture into human habitats,” Naik said.

Doping scare at National Open Jumps meet after syringes found in venue toilets | More sports News

BENGALURU: Despite continued efforts by the Athletics Federation of India and the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), the use of banned performance-enhancing drugs persists among some of the country’s top athletes and promising youngsters. The latest evidence emerged at the 5th National Open Jumps competition, which concluded here on Sunday.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW!According to sources, several syringes and vials allegedly used for doping were found in the restrooms used by athletes at the venue, located on the outskirts of the city.“NADA officials were present during the meet and were conducting routine checks, but they went on high alert after syringes were found in the toilets,” a source told TOI. “Many of the bottles had labels in Russian language, pointing to the use of banned substances. One label in English was almost entirely peeled off, but it was still possible to make out that it was a mephentermine injection — a prohibited stimulant under WADA rules,” the source added.NADA officials were alerted about the findings on the first day of the competition. Organisers subsequently put up posters outside the restrooms warning athletes: “Do not take any syringes inside the toilet. Our volunteers are watching you,” a poster, which also had the same message in Hindi, read.A coach said the warning had an immediate impact, with the number of syringes recovered falling sharply on the second day. Another senior coach present at the venue struck a cautionary note and said, “Some senior athletes are encouraging juniors to use banned substances. We need to create greater awareness among young athletes, so they do not look for short-cuts to success.” India topped the 2024 WADA Testing Figures report with 260 adverse analytical findings from 7,113 samples tested — a positivity rate of 3.6 per cent, the highest among all major nations. France ranked second in absolute numbers.

Rajnikanth: ‘Time doesn’t speak, but it waits’: Rajinikanth reacts to TVK’s ‘DMK threat’ claim | India News

Rajnikanth (File photo)

NEW DELHI: Movie star Rajnikanth on Tuseday expressed “gratitude to everyone” who condemned a TVK leader’s “slanderous remarks” claiming that the actor didn’t join politics as the ruling DMK family “threatened” him when he tried to enter politics.Thanking the film fraternity, his friends and fans, the actor said: “Time doesn’t speak, but it waits and gives the answer”.

Tamil Nadu Politics: NDA–TVK Alliance Talks Stall After Rajinikanth Controversy Triggers Backlash

“I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who condemned his slanderous remarks and raised their voices in support of me: the Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, Edappadi Palaniswami; Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagendran; Union Minister L. Murugan; Tamil Nadu Minister Raghupathy; Thol. Thirumavalavan; S.P. Velumani; my friend Annamalai; Arjunamurthy; Anbumani Ramadoss; G.K. Vasan. John Pandian; Pugazhendhi; and various other political leaders from different parties,” Rajnikanth posted on X. He further said: “I also extend my sincere thanks to Ameer, G. Dhananjayan, and my friends from the film fraternity; to Nakkeeran Gopal, Rangaraj Pandey (Chanakyaa), and members of the media; and, above all, to my fans—whom I revere as deities—for sustaining and uplifting me. Time doesn’t speak, but it waits and gives the answer.”

What was the remark?

TVK functionary Aadhav Arjuna had alleged that the DMK family threatened actor Rajinikanth when he tried to enter politics. Arjuna said he was not criticising Rajinikanth but added that Vijay had the courage to withstand such pressure.TVK organised protests at district headquarters across Tamil Nadu on Thursday, accusing the state government of failing to maintain law and order. A protest was held in Chennai, in which TVK functionaries N Anand, Aadhav Arjuna and Arun Raj participated.Speaking at the protest, Arjuna said after MGR, Rajinikanth was one of the most popular actors who intended to enter politics. He said Rajinikanth wanted to enter Tamil Nadu politics and change the system. “However, the DMK family issued several threats to Rajinikanth and prevented him from entering politics. See what happened now… At the end, he went on to act in a film produced by Red Giant,” he said.Arjuna added that there was no criticism of Rajinikanth personally. However, he said Vijay had the mental strength to enter politics despite such threats. “Even when personal criticism was directed at Vijay, he did not remain silent at home in fear.”

Remark draws criticism from all quarters

Arjuna’s remarks drew criticism from several quarters, particularly from Rajinikanth’s fans. “Rajinikanth is not someone who fears threats — everyone knows that. At a time when the coronavirus was spreading severely, he stepped away from politics considering the infection risk that gatherings could pose to the public and to avoid loss of lives due to the virus,” said S Ravi, one of his fan club members in Sholingur. “Not everyone who gathers crowds can become a leader,” he added.AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palansiwami and BJP Tamil Nadu president Nainar Nagenthran on Monday condemned remarks by TVK general secretary Aadhav Arjuna that actor Rajinikanth dropped his plans to launch political party due to threat from DMK. BJP has demanded an apology from Aadhav Arjuna.“Superstar Rajinikanth commands immense respect across spectrum for his abilities and talent.A TVK party functionary’s attack on such a personality is unacceptable,” EPS said in an X post. “Entering politics is one’s right, as is staying out.He (Rajinikanth) cited valid reasons for staying out. Respect that choice; politicising it is political incivility,” EPS said. EPS added that the actor earned MGR’s love and J Jayalalithaa’s respect. The statement comes four days after Aadhav made the remark that unlike Rajinikanth, Vijay withstood pressure and launched a party. In a post on X, Nagenthran said Rajinikanth, who completed more than five decades in cinema, is respected across political and social spheres and enjoys the affection of people cutting across caste, religion and language. “It is unacceptable for Mr Aadhav Arjuna to speak wrongly about such a dignified personality in public,” he said.Nagenthran recollected that Rajinikanth had received honours including Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. He said the actor also enjoyed respect of national leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Nagenthran urged TVK president Vijay to intervene. “The leader of that party should condemn such remarks and advise him not to engage in such actions,” he said. Last week, Aadhav Arjuna alleged that actor Rajinikanth faced pressure from DMK when he attempted to enter politics and suggested that such intimidation discouraged him from pursuing a political career. He said unlike Rajinikanth, TVK president Vijay showed the resolve to withstand such pressure. The remarks drew reactions from political leaders and sections of Rajinikanth’s supporters. His fan clubs in Madurai announced that they will contest against Aadhav in the 2026 polls to defeat him and show Rajini’s strength.

‘Culture erased’: New Hindu temple in Dallas sparks backlash, netizens claim ’18th temple in the DFW area alone’ | World News

The ongoing immigration diatribe aimed at Indian-Americans and Hindus has found a fresh flashpoint online in a recent X post. A self-described nationalist account recently took to the social media app to rant about another ‘massive’ Hindu temple rising in Dallas. They claimed the temple was the ’18th’ temple in the Dallas-Fort Worth area alone and added that the flood ‘never stops’, alleging a growing cultural shift. “Temples everywhere, neighbourhoods transformed, schools completely changed, culture erased. This isn’t random. It’s 100% coordinated,” wrote the account that goes by Info Battle Maiden.

‘Culture Erased’ Claim Sparks Row Over Hindu Temple In Dallas Fort, Targets Indian Community Online

The video, sourced from the Sri Ganesha Temple’s website featured 3D renders and on-site granite carvings of the 20,000 square foot temple set to open in late 2026 in Plano, a city located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The post quickly gained traction online with numerous netizens mocking the Hindu culture and practices.

Poll

What do you think is the primary reason for rising tensions over Hindu temples?

“We can’t allow demon worship in this country. We will pay dearly if we do,” wrote one user on X. “These are immigration conduits for Hindu priests! With this new temple they will import a hundred Hindu priests and their families!” claimed another. “People need to start calling them out on their caste beliefs, a big part of Hinduism. It’s anti-American and anti-Democratic. Buddhism took the good parts and got rid of the bad parts of Hinduism, but don’t tell Indians that!” trolled one. Plano is one of the US’s fastest-growing South Asian hubs. The DFW area has over a dozen major Hindu temples, considering the Indian-American population in the area is more than 235,000, roughly 3 per cent of the total population with larger concentrations in suburbs like Plano, Frisco and Lewisville, where Indian-run businesses, cultural centres and communities have flourished in recent years. However, the post follows the larger rising anti-Indian and anti-Hindu rhetoric in America, where the fear of ‘losing’ their own cultural landscape has made numerous Americans target other communities online. A 2022 research by the Network Contagion Research Institute at Rutgers University documented a pattern where social media was systematically weaponised to target Hindu communities by bots and geopolitical players. It also warned Hindu communities to be cautious since hate online often tends to slip into the physical world. Specifically, in the DFW area, tension has surfaced in multiple instances. From comedian Alex Stein mocking the Hindu culture in a Plano city council meeting to right-wing influencer Kaylee Campbell accusing Indian-Americans of conducting a housing scam in Frisco and Plano, numerous complaints have been raised in the region by the citizens, highlighting a larger unrest regarding the presence and visibility of Indian-Americans.

Boney Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor move to Madras HC over Sridevi’s Chennai property: Report |

A property owned by the late actress Sridevi on Chennai’s East Coast Road (ECR) has been at the centre of a legal battle for nearly a year. Recent reports state that her husband Boney Kapoor, along with daughters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, have approached the Madras High Court after an additional district court in Chengalpattu refused to dismiss a civil suit concerning a 4.7-acre parcel of land that had been purchased by the actress. The dispute traces back to 2025, when Boney Kapoor first moved court alleging that three individuals had laid claim to the property. Since then, the matter has remained under judicial consideration.According to The Hindu, on Monday, March 16, Justice TV Thamilselvi agreed to hear the Kapoor family’s petition on March 26 and extended an interim order that stays the trial proceedings in the case. The report notes that three individuals, MC Sivakami, her sister MC Natarajan, and their mother Chandrabhanu—have claimed rights over a portion of the land owned by Sridevi. They have also sought to cancel four sale deeds through which the actress and her sister had acquired the 4.7-acre property.

Boney Kapoor Drops 26 Kg Without Gym: Emotional Journey Behind the Transformation

Responding to the claims, Boney Kapoor had told the court in 2025 that Sridevi had purchased the land in 1988. He also explained that the property originally belonged to M.C. Sambanda Mudaliar, who had three sons and two daughters, and that the land had been divided among the family members in 1960.

Do you think long-delayed property disputes should be resolved faster in court?

In their petition, the Kapoor family contended that Chandrabanu’s marriage to M.C. Chandrasekaran, said to be the original owner of the property—took place while his first marriage was still legally valid, rendering the second union void under laws that prohibit bigamy. They further alleged that this crucial detail had not been disclosed by the plaintiffs. According to the publication, the Kapoor family stated, “Such suppression of a vital and legally relevant fact constitutes a deliberate attempt to mislead this court and amounts to fraud, vitiating the very foundation of their claim. The third respondent (Ms. Chandrabanu) was fully aware that her marriage on February 5, 1975, was contracted during the subsistence of his (Chandrasekaran’s) prior and legally valid marriage to M.C. Banumathi.”The family also pointed out that they have held the property for nearly 38 years and questioned how a lawsuit seeking to cancel sale deeds executed in 1988 could be filed only in 2025. They further argued that no objections were raised while M.C. Chandrasekaran was alive; he passed away in 1995. Additionally, they noted that M.C. Sivakami and M.C. Natarajan had reached adulthood in 1995 and 1999, respectively.Meanwhile, the plaintiffs have maintained that the Kapoor family has neither the legal nor moral authority to call them illegitimate or question their parents’ relationship. They claim that the 1988 sale deeds themselves were invalid and have accused the family of fraudulently obtaining a ‘patta’—a revenue record that establishes land ownership, for the property in 2023.The plaintiffs further stated that they only discovered the property and the alleged “illegal transactions” linked to it in 2023, after which they filed the case in 2025. After hearing both sides, the additional district court on December 1, 2025 refused to dismiss the plea filed by Boney Kapoor and his family, stating that the issue required a full trial. This decision prompted the Kapoor family to approach the Madras High Court through the present civil revision petition.

Vicky Kaushal’s Double Vihaan Twist Breaks Bollywood

The comment quickly made its way to social media, where several users criticised the joke. Some netizens argued that if other married actors had made a similar remark, the reaction would have been far harsher. The reactions also referenced actors Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. One user wrote, “If ranbir had said this, there would have been numerous reels, podcasts, posts on x , reddit and Instagram telling us all how he is the worst husband ever,” while another echoed the sentiment, “I am no Ranbir fan but I agree…If Ranbir or even Ranveer had said this, there would’ve been arrest warrant out on them by now….Somehow nobody cares what anyone else says, not just Vicky….

Do you believe internet reactions to celebrity actions are fair?

Other comments also called the joke outdated. One read, “we’re seriously STILL making misogynistic “marriage” jokes in 2026? should’ve left these on comedy nights with kapil in 2016,” while another netizen remarked, “If Ranbir or Ranveer had said this, by now IG and X would be on fire. Vicky somehow always gets away.” Vicky and Katrina entered a new phase in their personal lives after welcoming their first child last year. Right now, the mother is being the superhero and she’s been a warrior through her pregnancy and she’s been a warrior as a mother as well. I’m so incredibly proud of her and I love her so much.”
