Nashik: Motorists from Nashik who opt for the Samruddhi expressway while travelling to Mumbai have welcomed the announcement of linking the Samruddhi expressway with the Eastern Freeway to reach Mumbai faster.Motorists from the Nashik often face traffic at Amne village, after which vehicles from Samruddhi expressway joins the regular Nashik–Mumbai Expressway for the onward journey to Thane, Mumbai, or the suburbs. This usually adds an additional hour to travel time. “CM has announced that work on linking the two important highways — Samruddhi and Eastern Freeway — will be carried out soon to decongest traffic in the section,” said Ramesh Jadhav, a frequent traveller to Mumbai.
When completed, motorists will be able to reach destinations earlier. “We can see tunnel work being carried out at Ghodbunder Road,” said a senior officer, Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation. — Abhilash Botekar
