MUMBAI: Bangur Nagar Police have registered an FIR after actor Anuj Sachdeva complained of being assaulted by a neighbour over a parking dispute on Sunday. Police are probing further.Sachdeva, 40, resides at Goregaon West. Around 10.30 pm on Sunday, Sachdeva took his dog out for a walk after dinner. In the society’s parking area, the actor noticed a car that had not been parked in the space reserved for vehicle parking. He took a photo of the vehicle and shared it in the society’s WhatsApp group, inquiring who the owner of the car was.A short while later, his friend, Priyanka, joined him for the walk. Around 10.45 pm, a man dressed in a black t-shirt and shorts approached them. He said he was the owner of the car and refused to move it. Sachdeva’s dog started to bark at the man. At this, the man got angry and grabbed the watchman’s stick.Sachdeva has stated in his complaint that he feared his dog getting hit. He asked Priyanka to take the dog away.Armed with the stick, the man came up to Sachdeva and hit him on his head, back and right leg, not finding the dog anywhere. He warned Priyanka “that she was a woman and should stay indoors.” He also issued threats.When Priyanka raised an alarm, the society watchman came forward and took back his stick. The accused left in his car.Sachdeva then approached the police to lodge a complaint.

India has begun discussions with Mexico to mitigate the impact of steep import tariffs approved by the Latin American country on goods from non-free trade agreement partners, including India, and to explore the possibility of a preferential trade agreement to safeguard bilateral trade interests, ANI reported.Mexico has cleared tariff hikes of up to 50 per cent, effective from 2026, on select imports from Asian countries such as India and China. The measure, framed as support for domestic industry and a correction of trade imbalances, raises MFN import duties in the 5–50 per cent range on 1,455 tariff lines under the WTO framework, targeting countries without FTAs.According to Indian estimates, exports worth around $2 billion could be affected, especially automobiles, two-wheelers, auto components, textiles, iron and steel, plastics, leather and footwear. The proposal was first floated in September 2025, deferred to August 2026 after concerns from non-FTA partners and industry, and then resubmitted on December 3, 2025. It has since been cleared by both houses of Mexico’s Parliament and is awaiting Presidential Gazette notification.India–Mexico merchandise trade stood at $8.74 billion in 2024, with Indian exports at $5.73 billion and imports at $3.01 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of $2.72 billion for India, according to DGCI&S data. Key Indian exports include light vehicles ($0.88 billion), motorcycles ($0.39 billion), base metals ($0.76 billion), auto parts ($0.74 billion), mechanical machinery ($0.46 billion), textiles and clothing ($0.41 billion), chemicals ($0.43 billion) and pharmaceuticals ($0.38 billion). Major imports from Mexico comprise crude petroleum oils ($1.7 billion), smartphones ($0.27 billion) and gold ($0.17 billion).The government said it has been closely assessing Mexico’s tariff revisions, engaging stakeholders and pursuing dialogue to protect exporters while ensuring a stable trade environment for businesses and consumers in both countries, ANI reported. The Indian Embassy had raised concerns with Mexico’s Ministry of Economy in late September, which clarified that the measure was not directed against India and reaffirmed commitment to bilateral ties.“Through continuous engagement thereafter, a virtual meeting between Commerce Secretary Shri Rajesh Agrawal and Vice Minister Dr. Luis Rosendo was held on 2 December 2025, agreeing to pursue a trade agreement to mitigate the impact promptly, with technical discussions initiated from 12 December 2025,” Agrawal said in a presentation.A recent report by the Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI) warned that Mexico’s tariff move could significantly disrupt Indian exports from January 1, 2026, noting that the policy aligns more closely with recent US protectionist measures and signals support for near-shoring and tighter North American supply chains.

But their time came, finally, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Virat Kohli became the champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) last season (2025) after defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final.For the first time, RCB will enter the IPL Auction, set to be held on December 16 in Abu Dhabi, with the badge of champions.Under Rajat Patidar’s captaincy, RCB produced their best IPL season. They won 11 of their 16 matches, finishing with a win percentage of 68.8 as the title drought came to an end.Ahead of the auction, RCB have released Liam Livingstone, Lungi Ngidi, Mayank Agarwal, Manoj Bhandage, Swastik Chikara, and Mohit Rathee.With Rs 16.40 crore of purse left, RCB have 8 slots remaining, 2 of them overseas, to be filled. As the auction is just around the corner, here’s a look at IPL champions’ strengths, work they need to do, and players they might look for in the auction.

Solid opening, blast finishing

Virat Kohli and Phil Salt provided RCB with good starts throughout the season and were the top two scorers for their team with 657 and 403 runs, respectively. While Salt was explosive with a strike rate of 175.98, Kohli gave RCB solidity at the top.The middle order was kept together by Devdutt Padikkal and captain Rajat Patidar, both of whom had a good season with 247 and 312 runs, respectively.But perhaps their strongest point in the batting was Tim David and Jitesh Sharma, and Romario Shepherd on some occasions, who provided RCB with blitzkrieg finishes. NEW DELHI: Centre is set to introduce a new rural employment law in the Lok Sabha, proposing to repeal the two-decade-old Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) with another legislation, titled the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB–G RAM G) Bill, 2025.The bill seeks to replace the MGNREGA with a revamped framework aimed at aligning rural employment and development with the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. It has been listed in the supplementary list of businesses issued on Monday.

Under the proposed law, the government “establishes a modern statutory framework aligned with Viksit Bharat 2047, guaranteeing 125 days of wage employment per rural household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work,” as per a statement released.The Act aims to create both employment and durable rural infrastructure through four priority verticals:

What were the problems with MNREGA that necessitated a change?

While many attempts were made to improve its functioning, major systemic failures persisted:

  • Investigations in 19 districts of West Bengal found non-existent works, rule violations, and fund misuse, leading to a freeze.
  • Monitoring across 23 states in FY 2025–26 revealed works “not found or not commensurate with expenditure,” machine use where labour was required, and large-scale bypassing of NMMS attendance.
  • In 2024–25, misappropriation totalled ₹193.67 crore across states. Only 7.61% of households completed 100 days in the post-pandemic period.
  • These entrenched issues such as leakages, weak verification, and poor compliance required a new framework, not minor tweaks. The GRG Act creates a clean, digitally governed, accountable, and infrastructure-focused system.

His increasing focus on SM platforms (particularly Instagram) and digital media reflects awareness of political fit, not ideological drift.”“Tharoor has not engaged in a ‘rightward shift’ as many on the Congress party side make it out to be. He was a proud Hindu from day one for his own reasons (whatever it may be) and even wrote a whole book about it called ‘Why I am a Hindu’,” it further said.Though the post noted that Tharoor was being sidelined within the party, it clarified that it wasn’t “an endorsement of Tharoor’s worldview.”“Many on the Right are merely noticing it now because of the reactive ostracisation efforts of the mainstream INC. Like the urban technocratic leaders of the past, he is being sidelined by this new INC. However, this is not an endorsement of Tharoor’s worldview. It is an observation that he understands limits, while INC as a party does not. INC today is neither a credible urban reformist party nor a serious rural mass party.
