After cutting her Amazon stake by half, Jeff Bezos’ ex-wife MacKenzie Scott donated billions in 2025 to …

Billionaire philanthropist and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott donated over $7.1 billion in 2025, marking her biggest-ever annual give away. As per an essay posted on her website Yield Giving, the donations were made to 186 organizations around the world including universities, environmental nonprofits, and groups fighting for equality. “Since my post last December, I’ve given $7,166,000,000 to organizations doing work all over the world,” she wrote in the blog post. “This dollar total will likely be reported in the news, but any dollar amount is a vanishingly tiny fraction of the personal expressions of care being shared into communities this year,” she further added.

MacKenzie Scott’s donations as part of broader DEI initiatives

Earlier this year, MacKenzie Scott, 55 donated $80 million to Howard University, marking one of the largest single donations in the school’s 158-year history and continuing her recent surge of major contributions to diversity and equity causes.Other than Howard, Scott gave $42 million to 10,000 Degrees, a Bay Area nonprofit expanding college access for low-income and largely non-white students, alongside other eight-figure commitments to Native student scholars and HBCU endowments through the United Negro College Fund (UNCF).According to Forbes, Scott’s 2025 donation puts her behind Warren Buffet and Bill Gates in terms of lifetime giving.

MacKenzie Scott’s net worth

In September this year, MacKenzie Scott revealed in a regulatory filing that she had reduced her Amazon stake by $12.6 billion. According to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, Scott has cut her holdings in the e-commerce giant by nearly 42%. She currently holds 81.1 million Amazon shares—down 58 million from a year earlier. As per Forbes, Scott has a net worth of $29.9 billion, making her one of the world’s wealthiest women following her 2019 divorce from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

India’s most replaceable player in T20 World Cup 2026 squad

After the Indian Men’s Squad for the ICC T20 World Cup was announced on the 20th of December, a few changes might be taking place due to injuries or due to lack of form for any of the players.

The Indian Selectors took some bold calls in dropping the likes of Shubman Gill; however, some of the selections that were made did not seem to be right for the team’s dynamics. The selections might have been made to suit the combination, but a weak link can cost the entire team when it comes to an ICC tournament.

The Indian team mostly has players who have provided consistent and promising performances over the last few months, with Ishan Kishan and Rinku Singh being the only players who are making a return to the scheme of things after a notable absence.

Your daily dose of cricket!

next

With the kind of form and dominance Ishan Kishan showed during the recent edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he cannot be called out as a weak link in the side. Kishan also has promising T20I numbers for India in the past.

Rinku Singh might have had decent numbers for India, but the last time he played in a match before the Asia Cup final was against England in February, and the last time he played a significant innings for India was against Bangladesh back in October 2024.

Rinku Singh has been fairly out of touch, as a result of which he was sidelined from the Indian team; however, citing that he could come in handy in the T20 World Cup combination, the Uttar Pradesh batter was picked in the 15-member squad.

However, neither has Rinku been in touch in the format, nor does the batter have any other skill than batting, and moreover, with the likes of Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel and Shivam Dube all having a role to play with the ball, he is not ideal to replace any.

RCB’s wicket-keeper can be roped in as a replacement

If Rinku is picked in the original playing XI, then his effectiveness would be a huge question, especially in the subcontinent, since he is not a very good player of spin bowling. Jitesh Sharma, the wicket-keeper, could have been a more reliable player down the order if backups were needed by India.

Another player who showed glimpses of fine form was young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy. Reddy played only three matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for the Andhra Pradesh side and scored 70 runs at a healthy strike rate, and also picked up a hat trick in the game against Madhya Pradesh.

Also, the SRH all-rounder could be useful with both the bat and ball, and could be a like-for-like replacement for any of the all-rounders, especially with Hardik Pandya being very prone to injuries.

Rinku Singh’s stats in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025

Rinku Singh was recently not a part of the national squad for the South Africa series, as a result of which he played the entire Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy season for his state team, Uttar Pradesh. The left-handed middle-order batter did not have a very promising run.

Coming out of a promising run with the bat in the Ranji Trophy, where he scored an unbeaten century against Andhra Pradesh, and then returning from Australia to continue his peak form against Tamil Nadu. However, going into SMAT, Rinku lost his spark and was dismissed for consecutive single-digit scores.

His only promising performance in the SMAT came against Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, where he scored 65 and 45, respectively. In 7 games of the season, Rinku could only manage 172 runs at an average of 24.57 and just one half-century.

‘India sees the chaos’: Sheikh Hasina on ‘reality of Yunus’ Bangladesh’; blames interim govt for not protecting minorities

'India sees the chaos': Sheikh Hasina on 'reality of Yunus' Bangladesh'; blames interim govt for not protecting minorities
Sheikh Hasina (PTI image)

Former Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina reacted to the death of student leader Sharif Usman Hadi, accusing the Muhammad Yunus-led interim government of presiding over “lawlessness” and claiming the violence reflects a breakdown of governance that has worsened since her ouster. In an email interview with ANI, Hasina said the killing of the youth leader underscored a growing culture of violence under the interim administration, warning that the situation was destabilising Bangladesh internally and straining ties with neighbouring countries, particularly India.“This tragic killing reflects the lawlessness that uprooted my government and has multiplied under Yunus. Violence has become the norm while the interim government either denies it or is powerless to stop it. Such incidents destabilise Bangladesh internally but also our relationships with neighbours who are watching with justified alarm. India sees the chaos, the persecution of minorities, and the erosion of everything we built together. When you cannot maintain basic order within your borders, your credibility on the international stage collapses. This is the reality of Yunus’s Bangladesh,” Hasina said. Her remarks came after the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, a prominent youth leader associated with Bangladesh’s 2024 “July uprising” and spokesperson of the political platform Inqilab Mancho. Also read | Bangladesh: Youth leader Sharif Osman Hadi dies in Singapore; succumbed to injuries after assassination attemptHadi was shot at close range by unidentified assailants while travelling in a rickshaw in Dhaka’s Bijoynagar area on December 12. He sustained a critical gunshot injury to the head and was initially treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital before being shifted to Evercare Hospital as his condition worsened. He was later airlifted to Singapore for advanced treatment and admitted to the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit at Singapore General Hospital. Inqilab Mancho announced Hadi’s death in a social media post, stating that he had fought for his life for six days, according to Bangladesh news outlet Daily Star. An aspiring independent candidate from the Dhaka-8 constituency, Hadi emerged as a prominent political figure following last year’s uprising that led to Sheikh Hasina’s removal from office. Also Read | ‘Bangladesh won’t forget your mantra’: Yunus vows to fulfill anti-India leader Hadi’s dream; what he saidHasina also expressed serious concern over the killing of a Hindu youth amid the unrest, linking the incident to what she described as the interim government’s failure to protect minorities and maintain basic law and order.Referring to the lynching of 27-year-old Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh district, the former PM held the Yunus-led administration responsible. Das was allegedly beaten to death by a mob over accusations of blasphemy, after which his body was set on fire, triggering nationwide outrage. Also Read | Bangladesh unrest: Hindu man lynched, body tied to tree and set on fire as tensions escalate – reportHasina said such incidents were contributing to diplomatic strain, particularly with India and accused the interim government of allowing extremists to dictate both domestic and foreign policy.“The strain you are witnessing is entirely of Yunus’s making. His government issues hostile statements against India, fails to protect religious minorities, and allows extremists to dictate foreign policy, then expresses surprise when tensions rise. India has been Bangladesh’s most steadfast friend and partner for decades. The ties between our nations are deep and fundamental; they will outlast any temporary government,” she said. She further claimed that anti-India hostility was being deliberately fuelled by radical elements emboldened under the current dispensation, pointing to attacks on diplomatic facilities, media houses and minority communities.“This hostility is being manufactured by extremists who have been emboldened by the Yunus regime. These are the same actors who marched on the Indian embassy and attacked our media offices, who attack minorities with impunity, and who forced my family and me to flee for our lives. A responsible government would protect diplomatic missions and prosecute those who threaten them. Instead, Yunus grants immunity to hooligans and calls them warriors,” Hasina alleged.Sheikh Hasina also warned of what she described as the growing influence of radical Islamist forces, claiming the interim government had released convicted terrorists and allowed extremist-linked groups to enter public life, raising alarms about Bangladesh’s secular foundations.“I share this concern, as do the millions of Bangladeshis who prefer the safe, secular state we once were. Yunus has placed extremists in cabinet positions, released convicted terrorists from prison, and allowed groups linked to international terrorist organisations to take roles in public life. He is not a politician and has no experience governing a complex nation. My fear is that radicals are using him to project an acceptable face to the international community while they systematically radicalise our institutions from within,” Hasina said.Separately, Hasina criticised the interim government’s approach to Pakistan, arguing that major foreign policy shifts were being pursued without democratic legitimacy. She said that Bangladesh had long adhered to a balanced diplomatic principle but accused Yunus of moving hastily to reorient ties after alienating traditional allies.“Bangladesh has always believed in friendship to all, malice toward none. Of course it makes sense for our country to have a stable relationship with Pakistan, but Yunus’ headlong embrace is inappropriate. Having needlessly alienated many of our longstanding allies, he now seems desperate to find a friend on the world stage,” Hasina said. She further stressed that the interim administration lacked the mandate to undertake strategic realignments that could have long-term consequences.“The crucial point is this: Yunus has no mandate to realign Bangladesh’s foreign policy. He was not elected, so he has no right to make strategic decisions that could impact generations. Once Bangladeshis can vote freely again, our foreign policy will return to serving our national interests, not the ideological fantasies of extremists who have temporarily seized power. The ties between Bangladesh and India are fundamental and will endure long after this interim government is gone,” she added.

Gold price hits record high! Yellow metal jumps to $4,383.76 in early trade — What’s driving the rally?

Gold price hits record high! Yellow metal jumps to $4,383.76 in early trade — What's driving the rally?

Gold prices on Monday hit record high on expectations of more interest rate cuts by the US Fed and the yellow metal’s status as the steady safe-haven amid weak dollar.Spot gold surged to $4,383.73 after fresh US economic data signalled continued weakness in the labour market, while easing inflation strengthened expectations of further monetary easing by the Federal Reserve. This took the yellow metal past its previous record high of $4,381.52, set in October. The Fed, delivered a quarter-point rate cut last week, fuelling hopes of more easing ahead. Investors are now expecting in two US rate cuts in 2026, a scenario that boosts the appeal of non-yielding assets such as gold. The precious metal, traditionally seen as a hedge in times of uncertainty, has risen 67% so far this year. The rally has been driven by persistent geopolitical and trade tensions, strong buying by central banks and expectations of lower interest rates next year. A softer dollar index has added further support by making gold cheaper for overseas buyers. The global momentum has also been reflected in domestic markets. Last week, MCX gold futures climbed Rs 574, or 0.43% to hit an all-time high of Rs 1,35,590 per 10 grams on Thursday. This marked the fourth consecutive weekly gain and puts gold on course for its twelfth straight monthly rise.Explaining the reason behind last week’s rally, Prathamesh Mallya of Angel One said, “weak dollar, dovish federal reserve, lower inflation data in the US triggered the momentum in gold prices in the recent week.” While gold has posted strong gains, silver has outperformed the yellow metal. Last Friday, silver prices surged 8.08%, touching a record high of Rs 2,08,603 per kilogram. The white metal has climbed more than 130% this year, supported by strong exchange-traded fund inflows and concerns around yen carry trades amid expectations of a rate hike by the Bank of Japan. Looking ahead, market experts remain optimistic about both metals but have flagged the possibility of near-term corrections. Pranav Mer said silver could see further upside, though the risk-reward balance remains stretched. “We continue to maintain positive view in gold and expect prices to rise further to Rs 1,40,000-1,45,000 by early next year, with support for reversal placed at Rs 1,29,000 per 10 grams,” he said.(Disclaimer: Recommendations and views on the asset classes given by experts are their own. PCB and Mohsin Naqvi embarrassed as bidders show no interest in buying two new PSL teams

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has extended the bidding deadline for the two new Pakistan Super League franchises once again. An official statement is still awaited, but this is the second time the board has delayed the process, suggesting that interest from potential buyers has been slower than expected.

The auction for the two new teams is set to take place on January 6. Earlier, the PCB extended the deadline for submitting bids from December 15 to December 22. The PCB said that the extension was given because interest was coming in from new regions, including Europe, the United States, and the Middle East.

PCB Extends Deadline for Bids on Two New PSL Franchises to December 24

The Pakistan Cricket Board has once again extended the deadline for submitting initial bids for the two new PSL franchises. The new cut-off date is now December 24, although the board has not yet made an official announcement.

“The last date for submitting initial bids is now extended by two days,” revealed a source at news agency PTI.

This is the second time the deadline has been extended. Earlier, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi had said the original December 15 deadline was moved to December 22 during a PSL roadshow in New York.

While the PCB has not announced the latest delay, the board is not fully satisfied with the technical bids received so far. The PCB is looking for stronger and more suitable proposals.

Only those bidders who pass the initial technical evaluation will be allowed to take part in the final auction. The sale of the two new franchises is currently scheduled for early January.

PCB Explores Overseas Investment as Multan Sultans’ Future Remains Unclear

The Pakistan Cricket Board held roadshows in cities like London and New York to encourage foreign buyers to bid for PSL franchises instead of relying only on local investors.

At the same time, there is still uncertainty around the future of the Multan Sultans. The franchise became vacant after its former owner, Ali Tareen, stepped away following a disagreement with the board.

Notably, the PCB may take control of the Multan Sultans for the upcoming season. The plan could be to run the team for one year and then offer the franchise again through a fresh bidding process before the league’s 12th season, with rights likely to be sold for a long-term cycle.

PSL Set to Overlap With IPL Again as Longest Season Awaits

The Pakistan Super League will once again clash with the IPL next year, marking the second straight season where the two tournaments run at the same time. Notably, the IPL is scheduled from late March to the end of May, and the PSL will again take place in the April-May window.

The upcoming PSL season will be the longest in the league’s history. It is expected to run for 39 days, which is about a week longer than previous editions. Once the two new teams are confirmed, the final schedule will be released, and fans can expect more matches than ever before.

This will also be the second year in a row that the PSL is held in April and May. There will be a short gap between the end of the T20 World Cup and the start of the league, giving players limited recovery time.

Drake Maye walks into Sunday Night Football carrying more than momentum. He brings calm, confidence, and a season that has reshaped how New England views its future. As the Patriots prepare for a high-stakes road test against the Baltimore Ravens, the spotlight stretches beyond the field. It now reaches into kitchens, phones, and social feeds where a different kind of buzz has been building around Foxborough.Winning changes everything. At 11-3, the Patriots are no longer chasing respect. They are defending it. Maye’s command has steadied a young roster, even as the AFC East race tightens with Buffalo lurking. Yet amid the pressure of prime time football, something lighter has captured fans’ attention. It comes with flour, frosting, and a warm presence that feels rare in a league driven by noise.

Drake Maye embraces Ann Michael’s rising spotlight

Maye’s numbers tell part of the story. He has thrown for 3,567 yards with 23 touchdowns and just seven interceptions, production that reflects poise rather than flash. Still, the week leading into Baltimore had another storyline. Ann Michael Maye stepped out before the game in a sharp dress paired with black knee-high boots, turning heads without trying to. It matched the effortless appeal she has shown all month online.

Her daily TikTok baking series, known as Bakemas, has taken off during December. Patriots fans flooded the comments, sharing recipes, encouragement, and holiday cheer. Ann Michael even baked Patriots-themed cookies ahead of a big game, blending fandom with warmth in a way that felt genuine. That authenticity is what Maye believes sparked the surge.“I think it happened fast,” Maye said to Sunday Night Football on Fox. “During the Holiday season in the last couple of weeks, it’s taken off. But I think it’s just her being herself. She’s been awesome. She’s been a great addition up here for me. Getting married in the offseason, her coming up here to live in Boston. She’s from the South, (has) southern charm.“She’s just being herself on social media. (She’s) baking for me, and I’m trying to bring some extra baked goods in here, give some to the offensive line or something. But, she’s just being herself, and I love her for it. I tell her that all the time, ‘Don’t change for anything.’ I think she deserves all the support.”The couple married on June 22, 2025, after a relationship that began a decade earlier. With success comes visibility, and Maye welcomes it. He echoed the same pride when speaking with Devin McCourty.“She’s been awesome,” Maye told former Patriots player and current NBC analyst Devin McCourty before the clash with the Ravens. “She’s been a great addition up here for me. Getting married in the offseason, her coming up here to live in Boston. She’s from the South, [has] Southern charm.”As New England pushes toward January, Maye looks steady under the lights. Off the field, Ann Michael’s rise feels just as organic. In a season defined by belief, both have found their rhythm, and fans are enjoying every part of it.Also Read: Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff’s wife Christen reveals how motherhood inspired a complete makeover of both family homes

‘Sleeping pills, 3rd attempt’: How teen plotted father’s murder with lover in Gujarat; watched him getting stabbed repeatedly | Vadodara News

VADODARA: In a stunning revelation, the murder of a 45-year-old man in Padra village was allegedly orchestrated by his own daughter, who had him killed by her lover for persistently opposing their relationship and keeping her locked in a room.Police said it was the third attempt by the 17-year-old girl to sedate her parents in three days since Dec 16 before she finally succeeded on the night of Dec 18.

Heartbreak, divorce & deadly crimes | Dark Truth Of Failed Marriages | Ft. Anand Handa

After they fell fast asleep under the effect of the pills, she called her boyfriend, who repeatedly stabbed her father, Shana Chavda, at their residence, even as the girl watched the fatal assault from the window of the room in which she had been locked. The prime accused, Ranjit Waghela (25), was out on bail after being arrested under the POCSO Act on a complaint filed earlier by Shana. After Shana was found murdered on Friday morning, his brother, Moti (50), had expressed suspicion that Waghela, who was in a relationship with his minor niece, could be behind the murder. Moti told police that the girl had eloped with Waghela in July, following which Shana lodged a POCSO case against him. Waghela was arrested but later released on bail.Police said Waghela had a quarrel with Shana about a fortnight ago after being seen with the girl. Moti alleged that Waghela had threatened then that only he would marry the girl and that he would not hesitate to kill anyone in her family who came in the way. While the threat initially appeared hollow, investigators later found that not only Waghela but the girl herself had been conspiring to kill her father. “The father used to lock his daughter and his wife, Bhavna, in a room at night and sleep outside. He was strongly opposed to the relationship, especially as his elder daughter had also married against his wishes,” said Vadodara superintendent of Police (SP) Sushil Agrawal.Agrawal said the girl had made two earlier attempts to sedate her parents by mixing sleeping pills in water. “However, the mother found the taste unusual and did not drink it,” he said. After the initial plan failed, the girl again laced her parents’ food with sleeping pills on Tuesday night. “To check whether they were sedated, she made a noise and the mother woke up, forcing the girl and her boyfriend to abandon the plan once again,” Agrawal said.On Dec 18 night she again spiked the food and called Waghela. He came with his friend Bhavya Vasava (23) and stabbed Shana to death.“The girl was inside the locked room at the time of the murder and witnessed the killing through a window, while her mother slept beside her. We have arrested Waghela and Vasava,” he added.Police are also probing how the accused procured such a large quantity of sleeping pills.

One Player Who Will Define India’s T20 World Cup 2026 Campaign

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 15-player squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka from February 7. Notably, the selectors also revealed that the same group will play in the five-match home T20I series against New Zealand beginning on January 21.

Suryakumar Yadav will lead the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup, with Axar Patel taking over as vice-captain after Shubman Gill was left out. As reigning champions from the 2024 edition, India have backed continuity by retaining most players who featured in recent T20I series against Australia and South Africa.

One player who is set to define India’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign is Hardik Pandya. The all-rounder will be India’s go-to match-winner. His ability to score runs quickly and take wickets in all phases of the game makes him the most decisive weapon in India’s title defence.

Hardik Pandya Set to Be a Key Player for India at T20 World Cup 2026

Hardik Pandya is expected to be one of India’s most important players at the T20 World Cup 2026. India are likely to back him in every match because of his ability to change games with both bat and ball.

With the ball, Hardik has taken 101 wickets in 112 innings at an average of 26.92 and an economy rate of 8.29. His ability to bowl at different stages of the innings gives India flexibility, especially in tight situations.

With the bat, Hardik has scored 2002 runs in 97 T20I innings at an average of 28.60 and a strike rate of 143.51, including seven half-centuries. His quick scoring in the middle and death overs helps India finish the innings strongly.

Hardik Pandya Shines as Match-Winner Against South Africa

Hardik Pandya played a decisive role in India’s T20I series win against South Africa. In the final match, he helped India post a total of 231/5. He smashed 63 runs from just 25 balls and earned the Player of the Match award. Notably, he reached his fifty in only 16 deliveries.

Earlier in the series, Hardik also scored an unbeaten 59 off 28 balls in the opening T20I, helping India recover and push towards a winning position. He scored 142 runs across three innings at a strike rate close to 187, with two half-centuries, and also contributed with the ball by taking three wickets.

Overall, the series highlighted Hardik’s value as a match-winner. His ability to finish innings with explosive hitting and chip in with wickets played a key part in India sealing the series.

Hardik Pandya’s Return Boosts India Ahead of T20 World Cup

Hardik Pandya made a strong comeback after recovering from his Asia Cup injury. He looked sharp with the bat, striking the ball cleanly, and his bowling showed improved pace and rhythm.

His return has strengthened the team in a big way, giving India extra depth, power, and flexibility. With Pandya back in form, India regain a proven match-winner who can make a major impact as they build toward the T20 World Cup.

In World Cups, Hardik has scored 357 runs across 24 matches at a strike rate of 142.23, with a top score of 63. With the ball, he has taken 24 wickets at an average of 21.66. India will expect him to deliver in the biggest moments, especially in knockout matches.
