MUMBAI: India’s Test and ODI opener Yashasvi Jaiswal will join the Mumbai team in Jaipur for the Vijay Hazare Trophy on December 29. TOI has learnt that Jaiswal could therefore feature for Mumbai in their Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Chhattisgarh on December 29 and the following matches.Jaiswal was hospitalised in Pune after suffering a bout of acute gastroenteritis following Mumbai’s last match in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy against Rajasthan.

TOI had earlier reported that India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav and all-rounder Shivam Dube will also turn out for Mumbai in their Vijay Hazare Trophy league-stage matches in Jaipur on January 6 and 8.Wankhede to host RCB women’s team nets on January 2The Harris Shield (Under-16) final, which concluded on Thursday, was the last match played at the Wankhede Stadium. As per ICC guidelines requiring a 30-day gap before the first World Cup match, the venue will not host any more matches until the opening game of the 2026 T20 World Cup between hosts and defending champions India and USA on February 7.However, the Smriti Mandhana-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru women’s team will conduct a nets session at the Wankhede Stadium on January 2 as part of their preparations for the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL). RCB will face defending champions Mumbai Indians in the opening match of the WPL on January 9.“Yes, the RCB women’s team will undergo a practice session at the Wankhede Stadium on January 2 from 4 pm to 7 pm. This will be the first time a WPL team will practise at the Wankhede Stadium,” a source in the Mumbai Cricket Association said.

Mumbai: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday released its second list of 15 candidates for the upcoming BMC polls. With this, it has now announced 36 candidates from its party who will contest the BMC election.The party announced 21 candidates’ names last week.

Preeti Sharma Menon, Mumbai president of AAP, said, “We are happy that two brothers have come together. But all we have seen is Uddhav and Raj Thackeray and the BJP’s Ashish Shelar trading barbs at each other. The Congress is, as usual, missing in action. The fact is that all existing parties are status quo beneficiaries and have looted the BMC, whether as the ruling party or by being complicit as the opposition. These parties have no work to show and hence are using diversionary tactics through their mutual mudslinging. None of these parties can agree on a single list, while the Aam Aadmi Party has hit the ground with our leader Arvind Kejriwal’s ‘Kaam Ki Rajniti’ and has already released two lists.”

Mumbai: Central Railway will run four special suburban services on New Year’s Eve (Dec 31 midnight) for the benefit of passengers.On the main line, a train will depart Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminusat 1.30 am and arrive at Kalyan at 3 am. In reverse direction, train from Kalyan will depart 1.30 am and arrive CSMT 3 am. On the Harbour line, train will depart CSMT station 1.30 am and arrive at Panvel at 2.50 am and in reverse direction, train at 1.30 am from Panvel will reach CSMT at 2.50 am. All these specials will halt at all stations.

On Western Railway, there will be eight special trains between Churchgate and Virar. The trains available from Churchgate will be at 1.15 am, 2 am, 2.30 am and 3.25 am. And from Virar, it will be from 12.15 am, 12.45 am, 1.40 am and 3.05 am.

Mumbai: Republican Sena’s national president Anandraj Ambedkar met Dy CM Eknath Shinde and extended full cooperation to the Shiv Sena in the upcoming BMC election. “There was also a positive discussion this time regarding providing appropriate representation to the Republican Sena,” Shinde said. Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Anandraj Ambedkar’s Republican Sena announced their alliance ahead of the BMC polls in July. Anandraj is B R Ambedkar’s grandson and Prakash Ambedkar’s brother, who heads the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA). The VBA has been in talks with the Congress for an alliance in the BMC, but so far, no decision has been made.Political analysts said Shinde is looking to woo a section of Dalit votes to counter Marathi voter polarisation in case the Thackeray cousins unite. Analysts said Shinde is making an attempt to be relevant in the Mahayuti by taking on board Anandraj Ambedkar.Earlier, Prakash Ambedkar tried to form an alliance with Uddhav Thackeray in 2023, but that alliance did not materialise, and Shiv Sena (UBT) went with Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) for the Lok Sabha and state assembly polls.

Mumbai: The CEO of a major film production company has made a police complaint against a former accountant for misappropriating Rs 65.8 lakh of his personal funds. Khar police have registered an FIR and are probing further.According to the FIR, the accused used to pay GST for his colleagues. The CEO asked him to pay GST on his behalf as well, since 2017. The CEO used to transfer money to his bank account via NEFT for making GST payments, but in 2021, the accountant quit the job. In 2024, the company’s CFO reminded the complainant to make his GST payments on time after which the CEO checked with the accused but he gave evasive responses. The CEO then asked the accused to hand over his login ID and password for the GST portal.He found that between 2019 and 2024, only Rs 9.75 lakh had been paid as GST when he had paid the accused a sum of Rs 56 lakh for making payments on his behalf. The accused had misappropriated Rs 46.2 lakh. The CEO then summoned the accused to his office and quizzed him in the CFO’s cabin. At this, the accused admitted to having used the sum for personal use. He wrote down a statement to this effect and signed it. In Oct 2024, the accused returned Rs 2 lakh to the CEO, but did not return a rupee thereafter.As per the FIR, the total dues combined with interest and penalty come up to Rs 65.8 lakh. The CEO then lodged a complaint with police.

NEW DELHI: Army has issued policy on the use of social media applications like Instagram, WhatsApp, LinkedIn and others, ANI reported cited defence officials on Thursday. According to the guidelines, it has allowed the personnel to access Instagram for “purposes of viewing and monitoring only.““No comments/ views will be communicated on Instagram,” it said.

For platforms such as YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), Quora and Instagram, only passive use for accessing information and knowledge is allowed.

Posting user-generated content, messages or other uploads on these apps has not been not permitted.For applications such as Skype, WhatsApp, Telegram and Signal, the exchange of unclassified information of a general nature is permitted. Communication via these apps should be restricted to known contacts, and users would be solely responsible for ensuring the correct identification of recipients, according to the guidelines as reported by ANI.LinkedIn may be used solely for uploading a résumé and for seeking information related to prospective employers or employees.
