NEW DELHI: The abandonment of the fourth T20I between India and South Africa without a ball being bowled has triggered serious introspection within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), with vice-president Rajeev Shukla admitting that the board may have to take drastic steps on winter scheduling in northern India.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW!The match at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium was officially called off on Wednesday due to “excessive fog”, but the reality was a thick blanket of smog that sharply reduced visibility and raised concerns over player safety. It marked only the second instance in international cricket history of a match being abandoned due to fog.

Abhishek Sharma’s sister is very proud of her brother, and India win

Speaking exclusively to Times Now, Shukla acknowledged the gravity of the situation and hinted at a major policy rethink. “BCCI will have to rethink winter scheduling and stop matches in North India,” he said, adding that air pollution can no longer be treated as a routine inconvenience. “It is an emergency and needs to be treated like one.”The contest, scheduled to begin at 7 pm, was eventually abandoned around 9:30 pm after six inspections, though it had become clear much earlier that conditions would only deteriorate as the evening progressed. Players had curtailed their warm-ups by 7:30 pm, and by 9 pm, large sections of the crowd had begun leaving the stadium.

Poll

Do you believe BCCI should reconsider scheduling matches in North India during winter months?

Air Quality Index (AQI) levels in Lucknow hovered above 400 — firmly in the ‘hazardous’ category — prompting visible concern. Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya was seen wearing a surgical mask during warm-ups, an image that quickly went viral and intensified scrutiny of BCCI’s scheduling choices.Shukla himself walked onto the field during one of the inspections, and his disappointed body language after speaking with match officials reflected the mood. With no reserve day available, both teams will now travel to Ahmedabad for the series decider on Friday, with India leading 2–1.The broader criticism centres on the venue selection for the South Africa tour, which spanned cities like New Chandigarh, Dharamsala and Lucknow during November and December — a period notorious for fog, cold and severe pollution in north India. Just last week, the Dharamsala T20I was played in sub-10-degree temperatures, with spinner Varun Chakravarthy admitting the conditions were “quite challenging”.

Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury scripted accusation resurfaces amidst recent fight-fixing allegation involving Anthony Joshua | International Sports News

Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury scripted accusation resurfaces amidst recent fight-fixing allegation involving Anthony Joshua

Over a career spanning 12-1 win-loss streaks, Jake Paul has faced allegations of fixing his fights. Recently, the fighter was once again in the news for allegedly fixing his fight against Anthony Joshua. The duo will be facing each other on December 19, 2025. Deontay Wilder made claims recently about the fight being fixed. Moments after, Jake threatened to sue Wilder through legal means. While such claims have been proved wrong repeatedly, such comments keep coming in. Another major instance of such an accusation that has resurfaced was in 2023. Jake faced Tommy Fury on February 26, 2023. However, before the fight, a rumor was spread about the fight being fixed. The document was shared by Mike Perry. He was a reserve fighter for the 2023 showdown.

Jake Paul was accused of scripted fight in high octane bout against Tommy Fury

As per the leaked document, the match was supposed to be 8 rounds long. The first round, according to the leaked document, showcased both fighters having an equal stance within the ring. Following up, Tommy Fury would take control of the fight in the second round, which would make Jake Paul restless. In the third round, Jake would bounce back and catch Tommy off guard. Jake would have had an upper hand in this round. In the fourth and fifth rounds, Tommy would continue with vision problems. This is when Jake takes control of the entire round and continues to press the attack across the rest of the rounds. At the end, Paul would have been declared the winner. Dillon Danis also shared the document on his social media. However, that was not how the fight had panned out. Tommy won that fight via a split decision. Right after the document was leaked, the promoter quickly issued a statement commenting, “We can confirm it is fake.” This proves that the recent accusation of fixing the fight against Anthony Joshua is not the first time for Jake. he has faced this before.

Anthony Joshua responds to fight-fixing claims

While Jake Paul has done his part in dismissing the claims of having his fight against Anthony Joshua fixed, the latter issued a separate statement. He stated, “Yeah, nothing in the contract. What can I say? We’re not worried about what opinions there are, whether it’s Wilder, Fury, whoever. The only thing in the contract that got my attention was the money. Other than that, I don’t worry about nothing else.”With both Anthony and Jake confirming that the scripted news is fake, fans are now excited to see their favorite fighters in the ring. The bout has been scheduled for December 19, 2025, to be held at Kaseye Center in Miami, Florida. Also Read: Katie Ledecky’s $5M net worth: How an Olympic legend built a swimming empire

VB-G RAM G Bill passed in Lok Sabha: House adjourned after ruckus – key points | India News

VB-G RAM G Bill passed in Lok Sabha: House adjourned after ruckus - key points

NEW DELHI: The Lok Sabha on Thursday passed the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Bill amid sustained opposition protests, leading to repeated disruptions and the adjournment of the House after a ruckus. The Bill, which replaces the 20-year-old Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, seeks to provide a statutory guarantee of 125 days of wage employment in a financial year to every rural household whose adult members volunteer to undertake unskilled manual work.Moving the Bill for consideration and passage, Union rural development minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the legislation would ensure employment and help fulfil Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of self-reliant villages. He said the VB-G RAM G Bill would ensure all-round development of villages, make them poverty-free and fuel their growth journey.Opposition parties, however, mounted a sharp attack on the government over the repeal and renaming of MGNREGA. Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra accused the government of undermining Gandhi’s legacy. She said the Bill was destroying the idea of Ram Rajya both in letter and spirit by repealing MGNREGA and renaming the scheme.Moitra also accused the government of “dishonouring” Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore by removing Gandhi’s name from the landmark rural employment law. Taking a swipe at the ruling dispensation, she said the Bill showed that the government believed in “Na kisi ka saath, na kisi ka vikas, na Rahim ka, na Ram ka”.Opposing the Bill, she said the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act of 2005 had revolutionised rural India’s concept of livelihood security.Congress MP Jai Prakash said removing the name of the Father of the Nation from the legislation was “the biggest crime”. He claimed the proposed law would create fresh financial liabilities for states and deprive grassroots institutions such as gram sabhas of their right to decide on works under the scheme. He termed the Bill “anti-poor” and “anti-Dalit”, alleging it reflected a pro-rich approach.Speaker Om Birla had earlier said the debate on the Bill would take place on Wednesday, with the minister replying on Thursday before it was taken up for passage.Defending the legislation, BJP MP Brijmohan Agarwal said the previous Congress government had reduced MNREGA to a “dig the pit and cover the pit” scheme. He alleged it failed to strengthen the rural economy and led to large-scale corruption. Agarwal said the inclusion of “Ram” in the new law would deter corruption.According to the Bill, states will be required to frame schemes consistent with the new law within six months of the Act coming into force.

Ghaziabad woman goes to collect rent from tenants, found dead in suitcase

GHAZIABAD: A 33-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her tenants on Wednesday night after she went to collect pending rent at a housing society in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, police said. The victim, identified as Deepashikha Sharma, lived with her husband Umesh Sharma in Aura Chimera Society at Rajnagar Extension. She owned a second flat in the same society, which had been rented out. Police said Deepashikha left her home around evening to visit the rented flat and ask for overdue dues from the tenants — identified as Ajay Gupta and Aakriti Gupta. When she did not return home until late night, her domestic help grew concerned. “Her maid sensed something was wrong and went to check on the second flat,” a senior officer said. Upon entering the apartment, the maid allegedly found Deepashikha’s body stuffed inside a red suitcase hidden under a bed. She immediately alerted the police. Officials received information at Nandgram police station around 11:15pm, routed through a Police Response Vehicle (PRV). Officers arrived at the spot and took control of the apartment. The body was recovered, sealed and sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause and time of death.Police said the flat had been rented out to Ajay and Aakriti earlier this year. Both have been detained for questioning. “Based on a written complaint submitted by the victim’s family members, a case has been registered and further legal proceedings are underway,” Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Nandgram Upasana Pandey said. Investigators are examining CCTV footage, call records and financial disputes between the two parties to determine motive, preliminary accounts suggest. The murder has shocked the gated community, where police teams continued searches and questioning of neighbours through Thursday. Forensic teams inspected the apartment and collected evidence, including the suitcase in which the body had been found. Police have not yet disclosed whether weapons were recovered from the flat or details of injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

‘Pure force vs evil force’: TVK Vijay’s big charge against DMK ahead of 2026 polls; first rally after Karur stampede | India News

'Pure force vs evil force': TVK Vijay's big charge against DMK ahead of 2026 polls; first rally after Karur stampede

NEW DELHI: Actor-turned-politician Vijay on Thursday launched a sharp attack on Tamil Nadu’s ruling DMK, branding it an “evil force” and pitching his party, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), as a “pure force” ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. Addressing a large public meeting in Erode, Vijay framed the coming political battle as a direct contest between the two, declaring that “the contest is now only between the thooya sakthi TVK and theeya sakthi DMK”.The rally marked Vijay’s first major public outreach in Tamil Nadu since the September 27 Karur stampede, in which at least 41 people were killed and over 100 injured during a TVK event. Following the tragedy, Vijay had limited his appearances to a closed-door meeting in Kancheepuram and a rally in neighbouring Puducherry. The Erode meeting therefore drew heightened political and public attention.

‘Reason For Deaths Is Vijay’: DMK Leader’s Big Attack On TVK Chief Over Karur Stampede

Invoking the legacy of former chief ministers M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa, Vijay said they had often used the phrase “theeya sakthi” to describe the DMK. He added that leaders such as C N Annadurai and MGR were an inspiration for all and not the property of any single party, rejecting criticism over his references to them.Vijay also alleged that “vested interests” were running a smear campaign against him. “They do not understand that I have the people’s trust, built over 33 years,” he said, expressing confidence that such efforts would fail.Training his guns on the DMK government, Vijay accused it of neglecting key issues such as law and order and agriculture, claiming the state administration showed little interest in farmers’ concerns. The rally also underlined TVK’s organisational push ahead of future elections, with senior former AIADMK leader K A Sengottaiyan sharing the stage. Sengottaiyan, who recently joined TVK, has been appointed Chief Coordinator of the party’s high-level executive committee and given charge of western districts, a move party sources say strengthens TVK’s grassroots presence.Meanwhile, the Karur stampede continues to cast a shadow. The Supreme Court has ordered a CBI probe into the incident, to be monitored by a three-member committee headed by former judge Justice Ajay Rastogi, following a plea by TVK seeking an impartial investigation.
