'Inherited a mess, fixing it': Donald Trump hits out at Biden — top quotes from White House speech

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday (local time) addressed the nation, outlining what he described as major achievements on foreign policy, the economy, border security and domestic governance during his presidency. The 47th POTUS began his address by lashing out at his predecessor, Joe Biden for what he called the “worst” border crisis in US history.“We inherited the worst border anywhere in the world, and we quickly turned it into the strongest border in the history of our country,” he said.“Eleven months ago, I inherited a mess, and I’m fixing it,” Trump said.

Trump Aide Calls For Mass Expulsion Of ‘Islamists’ In US Senate Speech

In his address, Trump claimed credit for resolving multiple international conflicts and reshaping US global standing. “I restored American strength, settled 8 wars in 10 months, destroyed the Iran nuclear threat and ended the war in Gaza – bringing for the first time in 3000 years peace to the Middle East and secured the release of the hostages, both living and the dead,” he said. The US president also highlighted economic gains, attributing investment inflows to his trade policies. “Already I have secured a record-breaking 18 trillion dollars of investment into the United States, which means jobs, wage increases, growth, factory openings and far greater national security. Much of this success has been accomplished by tariffs; my favourite word – tariffs, which for many decades have been used successfully by other countries against us. But not anymore,” Trump said. He added that companies were increasingly shifting manufacturing back to the US. “Companies know that if they build in America, there are no tariffs. That’s why they are coming home to the USA in record numbers. They are building factories and plants at levels we haven’t seen,” he said. Trump also spoke about narcotics control and cultural issues, claiming sharp reductions in drug inflows. “Drugs brought in by Ocean and Sea are down 94%. We have broken the grip of sinister woke radicals in our schools,” he said, reiterating, “I’ve restored American Strength, settled 8 wars in 10 months, destroyed the Iran Nuclear Threat, and ended the war in Gaza—bringing, for the first time in 3,000 years, Peace to the Middle East. On immigration, Trump said his administration had transformed border security. “We inherited the worst border anywhere in the world, and we quickly turned it into the strongest border in the history of our country. In other words, in a few short months, we went from worst to best,” he said. The president concluded by contrasting his leadership with that of previous administrations. “For the last four years, the United States was ruled by politicians who fought only for the insiders, illegal aliens, career criminals, corporate lobbyists, prisoners, terrorists, and above all, foreign nations, which took advantage of us at levels never seen before,” Trump said. “But now, you have a president who fights for the law-abiding, hardworking people of our country—the ones who make this nation run.

India is world's worst dope offender: Tops list for third straight time

NEW DELHI: Indian athletes have claimed the top rank in dope violations once again. The country’s athletes notched up a record 260 involvements in dope-related activities in the year 2024, as revealed by the latest World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) report. According to the report published on Wada’s website late on Tuesday, it has listed India as the worst doping offender globally for the third consecutive time. The findings emerged on the backdrop of India’s preparations to host the centenary edition of the Commonwealth Games in 2030 and is aggressively pushing for a bid to host the 2036 Olympics. The Inter national Olympic Committee (IOC) had red-flagged concerns over rampant doping when an Indian delegation visited its headquarters in the Swiss city of Lausanne in July to assess the feasibility of hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Why the cricket maidaans of Mumbai are dying | Bombay Sport Exchange with Nadim Memon

Wada says, India accounted for 260 adverse analytical findings (AAFs), reflecting a positivity rate of 3.6 per cent — the highest among all countries that conducted 5,000 or more tests. The Delhi-headquartered National Anti-Doping Agency (Nada) conducted 7,113 tests last year, comprising 6,576 urine samples and 537 blood samples. Of these, 253 urine samples (196 in-competition and 57 out of-competition) returned positive for prohibited substances, while seven blood samples (four in-competition and three out-of-competition) failed the dope test. Nada insisted that the latest figures reflected the anti doping watchdog’s more aggressive testing approach, when a total of 213 cases returned dope positive from 5,606 samples collected in 2023.However, several leading sporting nations recorded far lower positivity rates despite more extensive testing. France tested 11,744 samples and recorded 91 anti-doping rule violations (ADRVs), a 0.8 per cent positivity rate. Russia accounted for 76 ADRVs from 10,514 samples, a 0.7 per cent rate, after leading the global doping charts until 2021. China had just 43 dope failures, with a minimal 0.2 percent positivity rate from 24,214 samples. The US anti-doping agency did a lesser number of tests than India, 6592 in total, and had a positivity rate of 1.1 per cent.

Stats

The report highlights how deep the menace runs in the Indian sporting culture and again emphasised on the need to have a robust scientific and research system in the country. The figures also highlighted that Indian coaches, doctors and physiotherapists – attached with teams of different disciplines – lack basic knowledge of the use of performance-enhancing supplements and medicines. “While this position may appear concerning at both national and international levels, it is essential to underscore that the figures are a direct outcome of India’s intensified anti-doping efforts, marked by expanded testing and stronger detection mechanisms rather than a surge in doping prevalence,” stated a statement from Nada as it explained the continued high rate of positivity. In 2025, Nada has said it has so far conducted 7068 tests with a positivity rate of 1.5 per cent after a relatively lower adverse results count of 110.To tackle the doping menace, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) recently formed a new anti-doping panel while the govt has passed a national anti-doping bill aiming to ensure the highest standards of integrity in sports.

H-1B tsunami: Indian-origin American diplomat says Indians bribe to get jobs in US in ‘honor among thieves’ environment

Indian-origin US diplomat Mahvash Siddiqui who claimed to have seen H-1B fraud first hand during her posting in the Chennai consular office in India, said that the entire visa program needs to be paused pending a full program audit. Writing for the Center for Immigration Studies, Siddiqui said fake degrees, forged bank statements, fake marriage/birth certificates are sold in Hyderabad’s Ameerpet to cater to the H-1B ‘scam’ which is functioning through bribery and cultural normalization of fraud. “Many H-1Bs claiming computer science degrees had no related coursework or programming skills; basic coding tests often exposed them. Corrupt HR officials in both India and the U.S. facilitated fake employment letters, allowing underqualified candidates to bypass scrutiny. A pervasive “halo effect” favored Indian applicants, compounded by bribery (“rishwat”) and cultural normalization of fraud. In the U.S., some Indian managers created insular hiring networks, excluding Americans, protecting unqualified hires, and fostering “honor among thieves” environments that discouraged whistleblowing. American IT graduates — trained through rigorous programs — were left unemployed or were forced to train their H-1B replacements for lower pay,” Siddiqui wrote.

‘Chennai consulate is H-1B visa fraud capital of the world’

In a podcast earlier, Siddiqui explained how she was one of 15 junior visa officers in Chennai, which she has now called the H-1B visa fraud capital of the world. “H-1B visas became the perfect loophole for many Indian nationals aged 20–45 to enter the U.S. with fraudulent or inflated credentials, displacing qualified American IT and STEM workers. From 2005–2007, Chennai adjudicated ~100,000 H-1Bs annually. Today, demand has exploded to 400,000-plus per year,” she wrote. “A pervasive “halo effect” favored Indian applicants, compounded by bribery (“rishwat”) and cultural normalization of fraud.

‘Congress misled by Silicon Valley’s nepotism’

The American diplomat said Indian lobbyists and Silicon Valley have pushed a disinformation campaign portraying American workers as less capable and Congress, often naive to these realities, has been misled.

‘De facto immigration shortcut dominated by one country’

The US diplomat said while H-1B is meant for skilled employees from any foreign country, the visa program has become a de facto immigration shortcut dominated by one country. Her sugegstions for the H-1B visa program include:

  • Pause new H-1B issuances pending a full program audit.
  • Strengthen vetting — verify degrees, skills, and employment history rigorously.
  • Prioritize U.S. STEM graduates for hiring in sectors with available talent.
  • Ban nepotistic/chain hiring practices that exclude Americans.
  • Enforce penalties for fraud — recent prosecutions prove deterrence is possible.
  • Expand site inspections to match program scale and risk.

SC: Growing trend of judges ‘hitting sixes’ before retiring | India News

SC: Growing trend of judges 'hitting sixes' before retiring
‘What If Orders Are Palpably Dishonest?’

New Delhi: In a surprise public acknowledgement of corruption in judiciary, a Supreme Court bench led by CJI Surya Kant on Wednesday said there is a growing trend of judges passing a series of orders for extraneous considerations on the eve of their retirements. While hearing a petition filed by a Madhya Pradesh principal district judge challenging his suspension 10 days prior to retirement, allegedly because of two judicial orders passed by him, the bench of CJI Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi said, “Petitioner just before retirement started hitting sixes. It is an unfortunate trend. I do not want to elaborate on it.”Senior advocate Vipin Sanghi, appearing for the judicial officer, said he had an impressive career with very good rating in annual confidential reports. He was to superannuate on Nov 30 but was suspended on Nov 19, ostensibly because of two judicial orders. “How can an officer be suspended for judicial orders which can be appealed against and rectified by higher judiciary?” asked Sanghi. The bench said, “Disciplinary proceedings cannot be initiated against a judicial officer for passing orders which are erroneous. He cannot be suspended for this. But if the orders are palpably dishonest?” SC takes exception to seeking info on suspension through RTI applications The judicial officer was to retire on Nov 30. SC on Nov 20 directed the MP govt to postpone the retirement by one year as it had increased the retirement age of state employees to 62 years. The judicial officer would now retire on Nov 30, 2026. “The judicial officer did not know, when he passed those two orders, that his retirement age had been increased by one year. There is a growing trend of judges passing so many orders just before retirement,” the CJI said. The bench asked Sanghi as to why the judicial officer did not approach HC to challenge the suspension. Sanghi said that since it was a full court decision, the judicial officer thought it would be better to move SC for a fair hearing. The bench said, “There are so many instances when full court decisions have been set aside by HCs on the judicial side.” The bench also took exception to the judicial officer seeking grounds for his suspension through RTI applications. “He could have submitted a representation in this regard. It is not expected of a senior judicial officer to resort to the RTI route to get information. We see no ground to entertain the petition. The petitioner can make a representation to the HC for recall of the suspension order. The HC would decide his representation in four weeks,” the bench said.

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma leave fans DISAPPOINTED after ‘rude behaviour’ with physically challenged boy; ask ‘What is the point of visiting Premanand Ji?’ |

Cricketer Virat Kohli and actor Anushka Sharma have come on the receiving end of sharp criticism on social media after a video from their arrival in the city went viral. In the video, Kohli and Sharma are seen arriving at the Mumbai airport, after their visit to Premanand Ji Maharaj’s ashram, Shri Hit Radha Keli Kunj at Varah Ghat. The couple had headed there to seek spiritual guidance, videos of which were widely circulated online, with the couple winning praise for proudly sharing their spiritual side.

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma slammed for rude behaviour

However, on their arrival in the city, their ‘rude’ behaviour with a differently abled boy soon caught the attention of netizens. The couple was seen making their way towards their car at an airport terminal. However, as they walked to their car, a young fan, identified by social media users as specially abled, appeared to approach Kohli requesting him for a photograph together. The cricketer, however, is seen keeping his head straight and continuing towards his vehicle without stopping or even acknowledging the boy. The clip has since prompted visible disappointment among fans. What might have otherwise passed off as a routine day at the airport, quickly escalated once netizens began reacting to the footage, as it came immediately after the couple’s visit to their spiritual leader.

Following the airport video, several users accused the couple of hypocrisy and insensitivity, particularly given that the request came from a disabled individual. “Go for spiritual trips but behave badly with someone who’s handicapped,” one user wrote. Another comment read, “Disgusting behaviour… so much for being spiritual and vinamra.”Anushka Sharma, too, was drawn into the criticism, with several comments questioning the couple’s conduct and attitude. “What is the point of visiting Premanand Ji if one continues to carry so much ego and attitude even after leaving that place? Ignoring a disabled child who just wanted a photo is heartbreaking. feel bad for him,” a user commented.Other reactions included, “Virat ne achcha nahi kiya, very rude behaviour,” and, “Why ignored the Kid.. atleast can say Hi.. just take few seconds from his busy schedule.. feeling bad for the kiddo…They should respect kids and their feelings.”

Virat and Anushka return from UK

Virat and Anushka’s visit comes a few months after they reportedly relocated to the UK with their two children, Vamika and Akaay. The couple reportedly headed to London early this year to raise their two children far away from the media glare. While Virat has often been spotted making appearances around UK while on his cricket practise sessions, Anushka has been enjoying her privacy while making rare coffe date and grocery runs with her hubby.
