‘You fuel antisemitism’: Netanyahu hits out at Australian PM; blames Palestine recognition for Bondi Beach shooting

‘You fuel antisemitism’: Netanyahu hits out at Australian PM; blames Palestine recognition for Bondi Beach shooting

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticised Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Sunday over Australia’s support for a Palestinian state, following a mass shooting at a Jewish holiday event in Sydney that killed 11 people.Netanyahu claimed that Australia’s stance on Palestinian statehood contributes to antisemitic incidents, stating “your call for a Palestinian state pours fuel on the antisemitic fire.”During the ongoing Gaza war, Netanyahu has consistently connected international calls for Palestinian statehood and criticism of Israel’s military operations to rising global antisemitism.Other Israeli government officials joined Netanyahu in urging Australia to take stronger action against increasing antisemitic attacks, but Netanyahu specifically linked the Sydney shooting to support for a Palestinian state.Australia was among several nations that officially recognised Palestine as a state during the United Nations gathering in September. The Palestinian foreign ministry reports that 159 countries have recognised Palestine. The majority of the international community supports a two-state solution as the only path to resolve the long-standing conflict, but Netanyahu’s government maintains that international pressure for Palestinian statehood serves to reward Hamas.

Patriots WR Mack Hollins steals the show as he goes shirtless and barefoot in freezing temperatures | NFL News

Patriots WR Mack Hollins steals the show as he goes shirtless and barefoot in freezing temperatures
Why did patriots WR Mack Hollins go shirtless in the snow? Source: X

Week 15 of the NFL season is set to feature some serious “football weather.” Extreme cold and snow were expected all week for the Browns-Bears and Bills-Patriots games in Week 15, and fans were offered safety advisories. However, pros are obviously a lot more used to playing in the extreme cold and keeping their body temperature up. New England Patriots’ standout wide receiver Mack Hollins proved exactly that when he showed up shirtless and barefoot at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough which was surrounded by quite a bit of snow. Hollins made a striking entrance, which impressed fans ,and the clip was shared on the NFL’s official page and quickly went viral.

Mack Hollins’ cheeky shirtless gesture got a lot of attention

In footage shared by the NFL on its official X account, Mack was seen only in a ski cap and joggers, and he seemed quite unbothered by the freezing temperatures as he was seen laughing with his teammates. “It started six or seven years ago. I guess it started when I was a little kid, but restarted about 6-7 years ago,” Hollina has previously said. “I met some trainers called Melbourne Muscular Therapy in Australia. I flew them from Australia to Philly. They showed up and the way you look at me is the way I was looking at them. They were walking around Philly barefoot. I thought they might have sent the wrong guys out here.“But that was their philosophy, being barefoot and getting back to your original ways of movement. That grew into me training barefoot all the time for two or three years. Then, probably in the last two or three years, I got [into the mindset of] what’s the point?”

SC full court rolls back hikes given by CJIs to select few | India News

SC full court rolls back hikes given by CJIs to select few

NEW DELHI: In every organisation, be it government or private, increment in an employee’s salary is an annual affair. Not in Supreme Court, where CJIs, on the eve of retirement and irrespective of length of tenure, used discretionary powers to sanction multiple increments to a select few employees. Those who had been Chief Justice of India for a short tenure, too, granted two or three increments in addition to the annual one in salaries to employees — mainly the chief justice’s personal staff or those who had performed exceptionally well and displayed organisational skills. While all 2,000-odd employees received at least two to three additional increments in their pay scale in the last four years, there were some lucky ones in CJIs’ good books who earned as many as six additional increments to get 150% of what should have been their salaries in the normal course. To correct the anomaly in pay scales and salaries of employees caused by discretionary sanctioning of increments, former CJI B R Gavai had called a full court meeting of all judges to discuss the issue. Most judges felt neither was SC a kingdom nor CJI a king to distribute increment largesse to a select few. After a detailed deliberation, the full court decided to stop this practice and withdraw discretionary increments given to employees in the last few years. It was also decided that discretionary allotment of increments would henceforth be decided in the full court, sources told TOI.Those who had got additional increments, apart from annual increments given every year, suddenly discovered their salaries had been reduced considerably. It came as a shock to those who had planned their budgets based on the increased salary — like taking house or vehicle loans that had to be repaid through EMIs.Some of those who had put in additional work and performed exceptionally well to get the increments said their monthly salaries were reduced considerably, in some cases up to Rs 40,000, and vented their ire against one or two registrars who, according to them, briefed the then CJI incorrectly on the issue.TOI spoke to a cross-section of employees, the majority of whom said that it would have been better had SC adjusted the additional increments against future annual increments. That would have kept their salaries intact and enabled them to maintain household budgets and investments in houses or vehicles.

Witnesses said Dutta was asked to deplane around 1pm and was kept inside a vehicle on the tarmac as police decided on the next course of action.
