WATCH: Lizelle Lee plucks a blinder to dismiss Radha Yadav in RCB-W vs DC-W clash at WPL 2026

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 witnessed a moment that instantly went viral as Lizelle Lee produced an outrageous catch to dismiss Radha Yadav during the clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women and Delhi Capitals Women. The stunning effort summed up Delhi’s sharpness in the field and capped off a dominant bowling display that saw RCB bundled out for their lowest-ever total in Women’s Premier League history.

Lizelle Lee takes a brilliant catch to dismiss Radha Yadav

The decisive moment arrived on the third ball of the 17th over, bowled by Chinelle Henry. With RCB already under pressure, Radha attempted an audacious upper cut on a short delivery, hoping to relieve some tension. Instead, she managed a thick outside edge.

What followed left fans and players stunned. Lizelle, standing up to the stumps, reacted in a flash. The ball flew towards her face, but Lee showed exceptional reflexes, reverse-cupping the ball safely inches from her nose. The crowd erupted as Radha walked back, knowing she had fallen to something truly special. It wasn’t just a wicket—it was a statement of intent from Delhi.

Delhi’s bowlers choke RCB from the start

While Lee’s catch will dominate highlight reels, the foundation for Delhi Capitals’ dominance was laid much earlier. Marizanne Kapp and Chinelle Henry delivered a probing new-ball spell, extracting movement and bounce on a tricky surface. RCB were never allowed to settle, with boundaries drying up and pressure mounting from the very first over.

Smriti Mandhana showed glimpses of composure and looked to anchor the innings, but her dismissal soon after the first timeout tilted the balance firmly in Delhi’s favour. From there, wickets fell at regular intervals, with batters struggling to find timing or rhythm.

Among the chaos, Radha stood out as one of the few RCB batters who looked comfortable at the crease. She rotated the strike smartly and showed intent without recklessness. However, her dismissal in the 17th over—courtesy of Lee’s brilliance—effectively ended any hopes of RCB pushing towards a competitive total.

RCB were eventually bowled out for 109, a total well below par and their lowest this season. It reflected not just individual brilliance but a collective failure to adapt to conditions.

'Bombs hurled at police van': EPS slams DMK govt, says law & order reduced to 'laughing stock' in Tamil Nadu

NEW DELHI: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) on Saturday targeted the DMK government and Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin” calling him a “puppet”, and further alleging that “law and order has been reduced to a laughing stock” in the state, after a country-made bomb was hurled at a police vehicle on the Trichy–Chennai highway. In a post on X, the former Tamil Nadu chief minister said, “In the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly today, while puppet chief minister Stalin was busy patting himself on the back and boasting away, a shocking incident unfolded near the Perambalur toll plaza on the Trichy-Chennai highway, where unidentified persons hurled country-made bombs at a police vehicle.”According to EPS, the attack occurred when police officers were escorting Velai Kali, a Madurai-based rowdy facing several cases, for interrogation. “This brutal attack took place as police officers were escorting Velai Kali, a rowdy from Madurai linked to several cases, for interrogation,” he said.He further claimed that “reports indicate that four constables, who had arrived to provide security for the rowdy, sustained serious injuries in the bomb-throwing and have been admitted to hospital.”Targeting the state government, Palaniswami said, “It seems that those engaging in criminal acts feel not the slightest fear, whether of the police or this government. With law and order reduced to a laughing stock.”Taking another swipe at chief minister M K Stalin, he added, “One can only wonder who chief minister Stalin—who’s been spinning the wheel of governance for reasons unknown—will try to blame for this incident.”“I strongly condemn chief minister Stalin for not allowing the police to operate independently,” EPS added.Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagenthran also criticised the DMK government over the incident. “The incident of a country-made bomb being hurled at two policemen who had brought in a notorious rowdy near Thirumandurai in Perambalur district is utterly shocking,” he said.Calling the situation alarming, Nagenthran said, “This single event stands as witness to the fact that law and order has plummeted to the depths under DMK rule! Not only has it systematically eroded public safety with its iron-fisted oppression, but now even uniformed policemen’s protection is being plundered—this vile regime that has plunged Tamil Nadu into utter devastation—is this the good governance the nation cherishes, Chief Minister Stalin Sir?”“People will no longer tolerate a regime that postures on social media while looting public safety! The day is not far off when the DMK regime, which has turned Tamil Nadu into a hotbed of violence and a den of rowdies through its incompetent administration, will be obliterated by the people of Tamil Nadu!” he added.

'He had a computer with him': Cong MP Rajeev Shukla recalls interviweing Narendra Modi; calls PM 'big personality'

Rajeev Shukla; Narendra Modi

NEW DELHI: Senior Congress leader and former journalist Rajeev Shukla on Saturday recalled interviewing Narendra Modi during the prime minister’s days in the BJP organisation, noting that even then, he had brought a computer with him.Shukla said he first met Modi, who was then the BJP’s general secretary, at the residence of the late party leader Arun Jaitley and had interviewed the future Gujarat chief minister for the “Rubru” programme.“The programme was quite popular and Modi ji had come for it. It was possibly his first TV exposure. We used to meet at Jaitley ji’s residence…I saw during the interview that he had brought a small computer with him,” Shukla told ANI in an interview. He noted that Modi was a “big personality” even at that time. When asked if he had any idea that his guest would go on to become chief minister and later prime minister, the current BCCI vice president replied he did not.“I did not feel that way. In the interview, he (Narendra Modi) said he did not want to enter electoral politics and preferred organisational work. Modi ji was a man of the organisation, focused on expanding it and winning polls in different states,” Shukla stated. He added that Modi had to go to Gujarat, despite expressing his “reluctance” toward electoral politics during the interview, because of the “situation that was created.”“From there, his path opened, and he is sitting here today,” the Rajya Sabha MP remarked.Narendra Modi served as the BJP’s national secretary from 1995, overseeing the party’s activities in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. In September 2001, he received a call from then-Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a BJP co-founder, and replaced Keshubhai Patel as Gujarat chief minister in October. He held the post until May 2014, when he was elected prime minister, a position he continues to hold.

Heat, cramps and chaos: Jannik Sinner survives Melbourne furnace to reach fourth round | Tennis News

Heat, cramps and chaos: Jannik Sinner survives Melbourne furnace to reach fourth round

The courtside temperature climbed to 40 degrees. The heat was tangible, almost opaque, rising like a wall at Melbourne Park. Sinner, whose struggles in heat and humidity are well documented, wobbled. The Australian Open’s two-time champion was cramping, first in his legs, then in his hands. World No. 85 Eliot Spizzirri, who had earlier persuaded chair umpire Fergus Murphy to rescind a time violation issued to the two-time defending champion in the second set by arguing he was not ready to receive serve, broke in the third set to take a 3-1 lead. The Italian was in all sorts of trouble. The 24-year-old admitted as much to his coaching crew at courtside. “I don’t know what to do,” he said. Darren Cahill, the Aussie, who Sinner described as the ‘dad’ of the team, was on his feet. “Come on, dig deep, mate,” Cahill urged. “You just have to get through the end of the set, even if you walk around.” That’s when the AO Heat Stress Scale hit a 5, leading to a suspension of play and signalling officials to close the roof. After a seven-minute break, play resumed. The Italian, who took his time settling into the pace of things, bounced back and clawed his way to a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 win in three hours and 45 minutes to move into the fourth round, where he will take on compatriot Luciano Darderi. “I got lucky today,” Sinner admitted. The second seed, who left the court as the roof closed over Rod Laver Arena, tried to get his thoughts together. “You cannot have treatment at that time. I was stretching. I laid down for five minutes, trying to loosen up the muscles,” he said. “It worked really well, trying to get the body temperature a bit more down. There are not many things you can do. Time passed quite fast, but it helped me, for sure.” Sinner has spent his last two off-seasons in Dubai, preparing to play in warm conditions in Australia, where the tennis year kicks off in peak summer. “This year was not as warm as it was last year,” Sinner said of the conditions he trained in. “I feel like sometimes there are no real explanations. For example, last night I didn’t sleep the way I wanted to. The quality of sleep was not perfect. Maybe it was this that caused the cramps, maybe not. Regardless, I try to be in the best possible shape every day. Recovery, everything going in the right direction. It can happen.” Spizzirri, who played well above his ranking for much of the four-set clash, winning as many points as the second seed in the match, smiled when the heat rule came into play. “It was just funny that right when I broke, it happened. But at the same time, that’s the rules of the game,” the American said. “But yeah, if I had won that third set, we were going to have a ten-minute break anyway because of how hot it was, even if the roof didn’t close. So who knows? I wouldn’t say he got saved by it. He’s too good of a player to say that. At the same time, it was challenging timing, and that’s just the nature of the sport. Wawrinka bows out: Three-time major winner Stan Wawrinka bid adieu to Melbourne Park, eliminated by American ninth seed Taylor Fritz on Saturday. Having already become the first 40-year-old man to reach the third round of an Australian Open since 1978, Wawrinka did all he could to extend his fairy-tale run. After taking the second set, the Swiss was overpowered by Fritz 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 in two hours and 46 minutes. Having already announced he will retire at the end of the season, the 2014 Australian Open champion had the John Cain Arena crowd behind him, but the 45 winners he muscled on the day were not enough for a match win. The crowd he had long won.

ICC rejects BCB’s final appeal, Scotland set to step in soon | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) desperate last-minute attempt to avoid ejection from next month’s T20 World Cup fell flat on Friday when the International Cricket Council (ICC) struck down their appeal to the their Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) challenging the global body’s decision to reject their demand of not playing in India.BCB, directed by govt adviser to sports ministry Asif Nazrul, emailed ICC’s DRC alleging injustice done by the ICC board with regards to their ask of moving all their matches to Sri Lanka from India. TOI understands that BCB has failed to formally write to ICC about their final decision of not playing in India despite the ICC board giving them a 24-hour window on Wednesday. It is understood that the ICC has initiated its process of replacing the Bangladesh team with Scotland while an official confirmation is expected over the weekend.

Shivam Dube press conference: On Ishan and Surya’s knock & his role with the ball

Nazrul and BCB president Aminul Islam on Thursday announced in a media briefing that they won’t allow their team to travel to India citing security concerns to their players and fans after the Indian board’s (BCCI) move to oust seamer Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL. Both claimed they will keep fighting to have Bangladesh play their T20 World Cup matches in Sri Lanka.BCB’s appeal cited the ICC agreeing to an arrangement between BCCI and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) where the teams don’t travel to each other’s country. TOI has learnt that the appeal with the DRC didn’t stand legally. The DRC is not set up to entertain appeals against its own board. Its function is to resolve disputes at a lower operational level or between member boards. As per the clause in the terms of reference for the DRC, “It shall not operate as an appeal body against decisions of the ICC or any decision making body established under the ICC’s Memorandum and Articles of Association or under any rules or regulations of the ICC…”ICC chairman Jay Shah was in Dubai headquarters on Saturday. It is also learnt that the BCB’s demeanour in the entire saga has not gone down well with the members. BCB chose to announce their decision via media briefings while not writing to the ICC. The world body maintained that ceding to BCB’s request here will set a precedent of undermining the sanctity of future ICC tournaments and its neutrality.
