Police have issued a lookout circular (LOC) against Boxer. A Rajasthan native, Boxer is believed to be holed up in CanadaAccording to the police, the complaint was formally lodged by Singh’s social media handler and manager Vijay Subramanian, founder and group CEO of collective Artist Network. Based on his statement, crime branch’s south region cyber cell registered the FIR on Feb 17 against Boxer. The south region cyber cell as well the anti-extortion cell (AEC) are jointly working on the case. The complaint states that Subramanian received two to three threat calls from an international number on Feb 10. When he stopped taking the calls, the caller who identified himself as Harry Boxer left three voice notes demanding Rs 20 crore. Police said that Subramanian received multiple calls on his mobile phone from an international number beginning with +340, a country code believed to be linked to the Virgin Islands. During the calls, the caller allegedly demanded money and issued threats. The calls came a week after the Feb 1 firing on filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu bungalow. The police verified the threats received from Boxer before registering the case on Singh’s manager’s complaint. Security around Singh’s residence was enhanced following the threats, and he has been advised to be cautious while travelling for film shoots.Police are also examining the role of overseas handler Arzoo Bishnoi who allegedly guides shooters and provide logistics from outside India. Arzoo’s name had found a mention in the social media post that was released after the firing on Shetty’s bungalow while Boxer’s name came up for issuing voice messages threatening Singh.Boxer left long voice notes saying “the next seven generations” would remember the outcome if they did not comply. “Ranveer singh tu kuch baat bolke mukhar gaya na thik hai, ya to tu us baat par vapas aaja, isliye nahi to mukharne ki saja kya hoti hai voh tujhe batayenge issliye voice note chod rahe hain tere liye… Rohit Shetty aur tu line par aja… Aur puri Bollywood ko bol rahein hain… Aaj jo Portugal mein firing karaya hain maine aur mere bhaine Marina Grand hain Sukhdev ki dukan pe firing ki jimmadari hum le rahein hain. (Ranveer Singh, you backed out after saying something, right? That’s fine — either you revert to your statement, otherwise we will show you what the punishment for backing out is. That’s why we are leaving this voice note for you. Rohit Shetty and you should fall in line. And we are telling the entire Bollywood as well. The firing that was carried out today in Portugal — me and my brothers take responsibility for the firing at Marina Grand and at Sukhdev’s shop).”This is second FIR filed registered against Lawrence Bishnoi gang members. Earlier on Feb 1, gunshots were fired outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu residence. The crime branch’s AEC, which is probing the case, has so far arrested 12 persons including the shooter Deepak Sharma who had fired at Shetty’s residence at the behest of the Shubham Lonkar faction of the Bishnoi gang.

Despite progressing to the Super 8 of the T20 World Cup 2026 after beating Namibia in their final Group A match, Pakistan are facing criticism over tactical decisions, with head coach Mike Hesson drawing scrutiny from former players.Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif questioned Hesson’s role following Pakistan’s defeat to India in the group stage. He pointed to Hesson’s extensive coaching background, including experience in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and other leagues, and said it was surprising that Pakistan chose to field first on a surface that tends to slow down over time, making chasing harder later in the match.

Why Pakistan don’t trust Babar Azam any more | T20 World Cup 2026

Pakistan’s campaign has been uneven. They narrowly avoided an upset against the Netherlands in their opener and then lost heavily to India. Although they secured a Super 8 spot, their overall performances have drawn concern from former players and supporters.“Leave Salman Ali Agha, what is Hesson doing? Mike Hesson has coached in the IPL. He coaches everywhere. What is he telling them (Pakistan team), to field first against India? Free ke paise le raha hai kya bhai? (Are you taking money for free?),” Kaif asked while speaking on his YouTube channel.“I can understand that it is the first World Cup for Agha and all that, he can be in doubt. But does not Hesson know what he is supposed to do on that slow pitch? You brought Abrar into the power play, he got hit and then you dropped him,” Kaif said.Kaif also questioned Pakistan’s handling of spinner Usman Tariq after the powerplay. The bowler has drawn attention for his action and has been among Pakistan’s steady performers in the tournament.“It was you who took the wrong call; the spinner was supposed to come after the power play. There was so much build-up with Usman Tariq’s action and all that and you brought him on as the seventh bowler,” Kaif added.Pakistan relied heavily on spin against India, delivering 18 overs of spin in the innings. Captain Salman Ali Agha also opened the bowling with the new ball. The plan initially worked when Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a duck early in the innings. After that breakthrough, however, Pakistan struggled to maintain control as India took charge of the match.Pakistan will next face New Zealand, England and Sri Lanka in the Super 8 stage.

NEW DELHI: A six-year-old girl was killed and her grandmother injured after the e-rickshaw they were travelling in collided with a car and overturned in west Delhi’s Janakpuri, officials said on Thursday. Recounting the incident, the grandmother told news agency PTI that the two had just begun their routine journey to the child’s school when the crash occurred. She said a speeding car rammed into the e-rickshaw with tremendous force, throwing her onto the road.

She recalled regaining consciousness to find herself lying injured, with her granddaughter beside her. Despite being in shock and pain, she said her immediate concern was the child, who was bleeding heavily. The grandmother alleged that she pleaded with a car driver present at the scene to help take the girl to the hospital, but the person left without assisting. She added that she could not confirm whether it was the same vehicle involved in the collision. The child’s mother, who works at a hospital, said she received a call from her mother after the accident. She told news agency PTI that a hospital staff member who witnessed the incident later informed her that the elderly woman had been crying for help while the child struggled to breathe. According to her, bystanders had gathered but none initially intervened. The grandmother said she saw the girl bleeding profusely. “I begged a car driver, who was standing there watching us, to help and take the child to the hospital. Instead of helping, he ran away. I don’t remember if it was the same car which hit us,” she alleged, breaking down. Police said a PCR call regarding an accident involving a minor girl was received from Mata Chanan Devi Hospital on the morning of February 17. The girl and her maternal grandmother, Mercy Xavier (57), a resident of Lajwanti Garden, were initially taken there and later shifted to a hospital in Dwarka. The child succumbed during treatment. During enquiry, Xavier told police that around 7.40 am she was travelling in an e-rickshaw with her granddaughter when, near the Janakpuri Fire Station, the vehicle collided with a car and overturned, causing serious injuries. Officials said Xavier remains under treatment and is stated to be stable. Based on preliminary findings, a case has been registered at Janakpuri police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rash and negligent driving causing death. The offending vehicle has been seized. Police identified the accused driver as Sanjeev, who was apprehended on Wednesday. Statements of witnesses are being recorded, and CCTV footage from cameras installed near the fire station and surrounding areas is being examined to reconstruct the sequence of events. The fatal accident has once again drawn attention to the operation of e-rickshaws in the capital. Official data indicates that over two lakh e-rickshaws are registered in Delhi, though enforcement sources said the actual number on the roads may be higher, with many vehicles allegedly operating without full compliance with safety norms.(With agency inputs)

Trump announces new 10% global tariff after Supreme Court ruling: What are Sections 122, 232 and 301? Explained

Trump announces new 10% global tariff after Supreme Court ruling: What are Sections 122, 232 and 301? Explained

US President Donald Trump said he would sign new orders aimed at restoring tariffs using alternative legal authorities after the Supreme Court struck down a large portion of his previous measures.Speaking after the ruling, Trump said he would rely on a set of trade powers known as Section 122 to impose a global 10% tariff across the board. He also said the administration would use another provision, Section 301, to open investigations into what it describes as unfair trade practices, a process that could lead to additional tariffs.“Effective immediately all national security tariffs under Sec 232 & all existing Sec 301 tariffs remain fully in place and in full force and effect. I will sign an order to impose a 10% global tariff under Sec 122 over and above our normal tariffs.”The Supreme Court ruling against Trump’s tariffs created uncertainty for existing trade agreements with countries such as China, Canada and the UK. It may lead to renegotiations or challenges from those nations as they reassess their positions in light of the court’s decision. This could disrupt ongoing trade negotiations and affect international relations, as countries might reconsider their strategies in dealing with the US.

What is Section 122?

Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974 allowed a President to impose tariffs of up to 15% to address what the statute describes as “large and serious” balance-of-payments deficits, an issue linked to trade deficits. However, any tariffs introduced under this authority can remain in place for only 150 days unless Congress votes to extend them.At least in the short term, such a move would not differ substantially from the baseline 10% global tariff Trump previously imposed, or the 15% tariff he secured in trade agreements with other countries over the past year.

What is Section 232?

Section 232 comes from the Trade Expansion Act of 1962. It allows tariffs or quotas on imports that threaten national security. Trump invoked Section 232 to impose 25% tariffs on steel and 10% tariffs on aluminum in 2018. These affected Canada, Mexico, the EU, and other countries. The tariffs under Section 232 remain in place after the Supreme Court ruling, as they are separate from emergency powers.

What is Section 301?

Section 301 is part of the Trade Act of 1974. It allows tariffs in response to unfair foreign trade practices. These include intellectual property theft, forced technology transfers, or discriminatory measures. Trump applied Section 301 tariffs against China, reaching 25% on hundreds of billions in goods. The goal was to target anticompetitive behavior.

Enforce clean air, medical service norms: Congress to BMC ahead of budget | Mumbai News

Mumbai: Ahead of the civic budget, the Congress group in the BMC has written to the municipal commissioner pointing out expectations of citizens. On environment and air quality, it expects the civic body to provide enforcement protocols and measurable reduction targets. Regarding health, the party wants the BMC to establish medicine procurement tracking, stock accountability and service standards, while on water supply, it wants the BMC to include loss-reduction targets, ward-wise monitoring and timeline-based implementation to ensure reliable delivery of basic services.

Political Clash on US Trade Deal, FTAs Progress, IT Rules Rollout & More

Ashraf Azmi, Congress group leader in the BMC, in his letter to the commissioner, said the party has consistently highlighted issues related to air pollution, public health, sanitation, public transport, education, etc, which have also been promised in the party manifesto. Azmi said Mumbai continues to face worsening air quality due to construction dust, debris and emissions and the administration has also promised anti-smog enforcement at construction sites, river rejuvenation and air-quality monitoring mechanisms, but the party also expect the civic body to ensure ward-level responsibility and measurable reduction targets, so as to enable assurances are implemented. While pointing out unequal distribution and leakages in water supply, apart from gaps in sanitation, Azmi said the party has consistently demanded equitable distribution and local accountability in delivery. Demanding the revival of BEST, Azmi said the budget should therefore specify fleet strengthening targets, service frequency benchmarks and operational strengthening so that public transport accessibility improves in measurable terms. The Congress, while seeking strengthening of municipal education, particularly Marathi-medium schools, demanded the budget include measurable academic support and monitoring indicators.

WATCH: CSK’s record-breaking IPL signing Kartik Sharma faces painful collapse during Mewar Cup season 4

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been hit with a major scare ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 following a frightening incident involving their record-breaking uncapped star. Kartik Sharma, who was acquired for a staggering INR 14.20 crore, suffered a painful collapse while competing in a high-profile Mewar Cup 2026 tournament. This injury has sent shockwaves through the CSK fanbase, especially as the five-time champions have invested nearly 15% of their total auction purse into the 19-year-old talent.

The Mewar Cup 2026 incident: Kartik Sharma collapses in pain

The incident occurred on February 19, 2026, during a league match in the PIMS Mewar Cup Season 4 in Udaipur. While batting on 39 runs from just 14 balls, Sharma appeared to be in a explosive rhythm, as he smashed three consecutive boundaries, before tragedy struck just as the bowler Vipraj Nigam was running in to bowl the fourth ball.

Visuals from the ground showed the young batter suddenly clutching his lower back and collapsing to the turf in intense agony. Team physios rushed to the field to provide immediate medical attention, but Sharma was unable to continue and had to be retired hurt. While the exact nature of the injury is still being evaluated, initial reports suggest it is a severe back sprain or muscle tear, with many observers describing the scene as ‘nasty’.

CSK’s new find Karthik Sharma: Joint-most uncapped player in IPL history

Kartik Sharma became the joint-most expensive uncapped player in IPL history, sharing the record with teammate Prashant Veer, after a fierce bidding war saw his price jump from a INR 30 lakh base price to INR 14.20 crore. His meteoric rise is backed by extraordinary domestic numbers for Rajasthan, including:

  • Explosive T20 Hitting: A strike rate of 162.92 in the shortest format, where he hit 28 sixes in just 11 innings.
  • Debut Brilliance: A century (113) against Uttarakhand for Rajasthan on his Ranji Trophy debut and another on his Vijay Hazare Trophy debut.
  • Consistent Power: He finished as the highest six-hitter of the 2025 Vijay Hazare Trophy and has over 11,000 runs in grassroots cricket with a career strike rate of 150+.

Regarding his availability for IPL 2026, his status is currently unclear. With the IPL set to begin in late March, the youngster has approximately one month to recover. If it is a minor back sprain, he may be fit for the season opener; however, any structural damage could force CSK to look for a replacement player for their biggest investment of the auction.

KEM Hospital to inaugurate MAA, its affordable IVF treatment centre | Mumbai News

Mumbai: Forty years after India’s first officially documented test-tube baby was born in KEM Hospital, the civic hospital will inaugurate a state-of-the-art in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) centre on Monday. The centre, called MAA, is a public-private partnership between the hospital and its former students, Dr Anjali and Aniruddha Malpani, and will be inaugurated by state health minister Prakash Abitkar. The main aim of setting up the MAA clinic is to provide the most “affordable” IVF treatment for women in the city, said Dr Anjali Malpani. While an IVF cycle costs up to Rs 3 lakh in the private sector, she said the KEM centre will offer it at 1/5 of the sum. Over 100 women already registered for various IVF treatments at the hospital in the 2 months that the centre was open for out-patient consultation.

A couple of days back, the first intrauterine insemination (IUI) — the most basic infertility treatment in which concentrated sperm is placed directly into the uterus — was carried out at the KEM IVF clinic. “We have modern embryology laboratory facilities, digital medical record-keeping, and state-of-the-art advanced IVF technology,” said Dr Anjali Malpani, who pledged to spend Rs 1 crore annually for MAA clinic for the next 5 years. Cryopreservation of embryos, eggs, and sperm will soon start in the clinic. The centre, located next to the only multi-storeyed building on the KEM campus, will also focus on teaching and research. “This multidisciplinary team in a teaching hospital will be dedicated to delivering safe and effective fertility treatment,” she said. Harsha Chawda, born in KEM Hospital on August 6, 1986, was India’s first scientifically documented IVF baby; most of the lab work was carried out at the Indian Council of Medical Research’s National Institute for Research in Reproductive and Child Health, located near KEM. However, ICMR a few years back credited Kolkata-based Dr Subhash Mukhopadhyay with India’s first test-tube baby, delivered in 1978, a few months after the world’s first test-tube baby, Louse Brown, was born in the UK.

Montreal Canadiens: Montreal Canadiens Could Break Rivalry Taboo on Trade Deadline Deal With Toronto Maple Leafs To Acquire Some Depth Pieces | NHL News

Montreal Canadiens Could Break Rivalry Taboo on Trade Deadline Deal With Toronto Maple Leafs To Acquire Some Depth Pieces
Montreal Canadiens Captain Nick Suzuki (Via Getty Images)

The Canadiens and Maple Leafs making a trade sounds unlikely. These bitter rivals have completed just three trades since 2000. Yet circumstances heading into the March 6 deadline could quietly push both organizations toward breaking that taboo.Montreal sits second in the Atlantic Division with 72 points through 58 games. The playoff push continues for GM Kent Hughes, who wants calculated reinforcement without sacrificing long-term assets. And Toronto, with 63 points in 57 games, might just be what the Canadiens need.

Maple Leafs Could Pivot to Selling To Recover From Disastrous Season

The Maple Leafs face critical decisions through the final weeks before the deadline. Their nine-point deficit is not insurmountable, but continued struggles could force management to pivot toward selling pending unrestricted free agents rather than chasing a playoff spot.Calle Järnkrok, Scott Laughton, Bobby McMann and Troy Stecher all become unrestricted free agents on July 1. None are franchise-altering players, but each offers depth and playoff versatility that contenders covet in March. Järnkrok provides reliable two-way play anywhere in the lineup, while Laughton brings grit and leadership. McMann adds a secondary scoring punch. Historical rivalry makes trades between these clubs difficult. The Maple Leafs acquired Doug Gilmour from Montreal for a sixth-round pick in 2003. Toronto obtained Mikhail Grabovsky for Greg Pateryn and a second-round pick in 2008. The Canadiens sent Tomas Plekanec and Kyle Baun to Toronto for Kerby Reichel, Rinat Valiev and a second-round pick in 2018. Three trades in over two decades show how rarely these rivals conduct business. No GM wants to gift a rival a playoff difference-maker. But pending unrestricted free agents represent different risk levels than core pieces with terms remaining on contracts. But Montreal acquiring one or two veteran depth players fits perfectly with their competitive window. The Canadiens are not in win-now-at-all-costs mode but want to strengthen a young core without disrupting long-term plans. Adding playoff-tested depth for reasonable prices makes strategic sense.Toronto recouping mid-round picks or depth prospects for players who might walk in July represents logical asset management. A third-round pick or young prospect from Montreal could prove more valuable than keeping a pending unrestricted free agent through a lost spring. The trade deadline arrives at 3 p.m. ET on March 6, following the Olympic roster freeze that ends February 22. Teams have two weeks after the Olympics to finalize deals. Montreal resumes play on February 26 against Ottawa, while Toronto returns February 25 versus Boston.Rivals rarely cooperate, but value alignment could produce a quiet deadline deal that looks minor in March but feels significant when the playoffs begin. If Toronto wants to climb from their seventh-place to a wildcard position, a trade might be the key after all.

‘Less than 100’- Mike Hesson opens up on Babar Azam’s strike rate, Salman Ali Agha rift, Shaheen Afridi omission | Cricket News

'Less than 100'- Mike Hesson opens up on Babar Azam’s strike rate, Salman Ali Agha rift, Shaheen Afridi omission
Pakistan’s Babar Azam, left, walks off the field with head coach Mike Hesson after a net practice session ahead of an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 cricket match between India and Pakistan, at R Premadasa Stadium, in Colombo, Sri Lanka. (PTI Photo)

TimesofIndia.com in Colombo: Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson did not mince words on Babar Azam’s strike rate on the eve of their first Super Eight match against New Zealand at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. There were doubts around Babar’s place in Pakistan’s side for the T20 World Cup following his horrible season in Australia’s Big Bash League, where he scored only 202 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 103.06. He hit just three sixes in the season and made scores of 14 or less in the eight matches he played.

T20 World Cup: Pakistan coach Mike Hesson on Babar Azam, Salman Ali Agha and Shaheen Shah Afridi

In Pakistan’s last group match against Namibia, he was not even sent in to bat at his usual position. When Salman Ali Agha was dismissed off the first ball of the 13th over, Khawaja Nafay was sent in. An over later, when Nafay got out, Shadab Khan walked out to bat, leaving Babar padded up in the dugout.“Look, it’s the role the team requires, and Babar is well aware of that. I think he’s well aware his strike rate in the powerplay in World Cups is less than 100,” Hesson said at the pre-match press conference.“We think he’s a fine player through the middle if required, especially if we’re in a bit of trouble. As we saw against the USA, once he gets set, he can increase his strike rate. We brought Babar back in for a specific role post the Asia Cup. We wanted some batsmanship through the middle, and he brings that for us.“The other day, when we got to the 12th over mark, Babar Azam was not the best person to come in. We have other options who can perform that role better at the end. Babar is the first to acknowledge that. He knows he has a certain set of skills the team requires, and at times other players can perform certain roles more efficiently,” he said.

Look, it’s the role the team requires, and Babar is well aware of that. I think he’s well aware his strike rate in the powerplay in World Cups is less than 100

Mike Hesson

During the match against Namibia, Pakistan made two bold calls, dropping Shaheen Shah Afridi and demoting Babar from his designated position. When asked whether it was a paradigm shift after the loss to India, the coach said, “I wouldn’t say that. Salman Mirza deserved his opportunity. Babar was the first to recognise that when the left-arm spin was taking shape and the pitch was turning, it wasn’t smart to send out two right-handers. Once the left-arm spinner finished, Nafay went out to take the game on. That’s what we needed at that time. It was about roles, not a paradigm shift.Hesson also said Salman Mirza should have played ahead of Shaheen Afridi in the previous match as well. Shaheen had conceded 31 runs in two overs against India and was then dropped for the Namibia game.“We made a call that Salman Mirza was coming in for Shaheen, and he bowled incredibly well. To be fair, he was probably unlucky not to be playing the second and third games,” he said. The coach also cleared the air about his alleged rift with Salman Ali Agha after a video clip of an argument during the Namibia match went viral.“I got sent that video, and you guys have got that completely wrong. I was going over to talk to Salman about getting Nawaz to put the pads on as a left-hander. Agha was upset about getting out and threw his bottle on the ground. It had nothing to do with our conversation,” he explained.“Once the left-arm spinner finished, we spoke about Shadab going in and Nawaz getting his pads on. It was a very simple conversation. Amazing what people can interpret sometimes,” he added.Pakistan will take on New Zealand on Saturday. The match will be played on the same surface used for the Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe game.
