WI vs ITA, Head-to-Head Record in T20Is

Both team are yet to face other in international cricket.

Eden Gardens Pitch Report

Eden Gardens has largely justified its tag as a run-friendly venue in this tournament, though it hasn’t been one-sided. The pitch usually offers lively pace and carry for the quicks with the new ball, but as it wears, its abrasive surface starts assisting spin. That brings bowlers like West Indies’ Gudakesh Motie and Italy’s Crishan Kalugamage into the game during the middle overs.

The average first-innings total at this venue in the T20 World Cup 2026 has hovered around 175, underlining the scoring potential while still rewarding disciplined bowling. Given the conditions, the captain winning the toss is likely to bat first and aim to post a challenging total on a fresh track before it slows later in the match.

Squads

West Indies: Brandon King, Shai Hope (c & wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Roston Chase, Sherfane Rutherford, Rovman Powell, Jason Holder, Matthew Forde, Akeal Hosein, Gudakesh Motie, Shamar Joseph, Romario Shepherd, Jayden Seales, Quentin Sampson, Johnson Charles

Italy: Justin Mosca, Anthony Mosca, JJ Smuts, Harry Manenti (c), Ben Manenti, Grant Stewart, Marcus Campopiano, Gian Meade (wk), Jaspreet Singh, Crishan Kalugamage, Ali Hasan, Syed Naqvi, Zain Ali, Thomas Draca, Wayne Madsen

Infosys, ITC & more: Top stocks to watch on February 19

Infosys, ITC & more: Top stocks to watch on February 19

BofA maintained its buy recommendation on Infosys with the target price at Rs 1,840. Analysts said there were several positives on positioning and net opportunity could be bigger but the path is still evolving. They also said that enterprise AI isn’t plug and play. Currently revenue from AI-first offerings stands at 5.5%, which is not too different from others that have disclosed the metric. Analysts also warned that the key risk with AI, as per the company, is less about opportunity and more about strategy and execution. They also believe the Anthropic partnerships signify the role of a services company in enterprise AI shift.UBS has a buy on ITC with the target price cut to Rs 395 from Rs 420. Analysts said their distributor checks indicated a range of imminent price hikes, which is now arriving. ITC’s 84mm cigarettes are expected to be priced at Rs 24 per stick, up from Rs 17 earlier. This segment has seen the steepest tax increase. While on the other extreme, 64mm is expected to be priced Rs 7 per stick, from Rs 5.9 earlier. The pricing of 69mm Goldflake (a large volume driver, currently at Rs 9.5 per stick) is yet to be known. They expect it to be priced around Rs 12. It is clear that price hikes have been fully passed on in the premium cigarettes, while it is kept minimal in price sensitive segments of 69mm and 64mm. This pricing approach is likely to keep ITC’s volume and earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) impact to minimum.Goldman Sachs has initiated its coverage of LG Electronics with the target price at Rs 1,750. Analysts said the company is well-placed to grow faster than the industry in the near to medium term. This could come due to shifting income cohort mix and rising penetration leading to faster industry growth in the mid and premium products. Also due to the company’s consistent track record of innovation enabling it to sustain its premiumization trends. A third reason could be LG Electronics Inc’s ‘Global South’ strategy, which should enable it to improve exports while expanding its manufacturing in India. However, analysts warned that the rising competitive intensity in an increasing commodity price environment should keep margin expansion potential limited.Morgan Stanley has an underweight rating on Dabur with the target price at Rs 400. Analysts said Mohit Malhotra (currently Whole Time Director & CEO) has been re-designated as Whole Time Director & Global CEO, effective Feb 17, 2026. Herjit S Bhalla has been appointed as CEO – India Business, effective April 15, 2026 or such other date as may be mutually agreed. They said that Bhalla brings more than 25 years of experience across sales, marketing and general management roles.HSBC has a buy on Aurobindo Pharma with the target price raised to Rs 1,415. Analysts said the company received US FDA approval for Adquey (difamilast 1%), a non-steroid topical treatment for atopic dermatitis. They feel Adquey has potential to become a $250-300-million brand but Aurobindo Pharma needs to invest for specialist sales hires. Analysts also feel marketing execution will be the key for Adquey’s success in the US.(Disclaimer: Recommendations and views on the stock market, other asset classes or personal finance management tips given by experts are their own. How cricket found Saad Bin Zafar: Left Pakistan for studies, became hero for Canada | Exclusive | Cricket News

How cricket found Saad Bin Zafar: Left Pakistan for studies, became hero for Canada | Exclusive
Saad Bin Zafar has had an inspiring journey (Photos from Instagram)

NEW DELHI: In 2004, T20 cricket was still an idea waiting to happen. The shortest format, which today commands prime-time slots, billions in franchise cricket, biennial World Cup events, and the ICC’s most-reliable route to globalise the game, had not yet been played at the international level. That same year, a 17-year-old Saad Bin Zafar moved from Gujranwala in Pakistan to Canada. Cricket was not the reason for the move. Education was.“When we moved to Canada in the beginning, the sole reason was for me to get a good education,” Saad told TimesofIndia.com during an exclusive interaction. “My parents, especially my dad, used to tell me to focus on my studies, ‘play cricket but don’t let your studies affect you. That’s the sole reason we decided to move you to Canada.’ So, there was some pressure from my family.”

Why Pakistan don’t trust Babar Azam any more | T20 World Cup 2026

Two decades later, Saad is Canada’s most experienced campaigner in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 and their leading wicket-taker with four wickets. And as his team prepares to play Afghanistan in their final match of the tournament on Thursday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the 39-year-old has just one ambition: “To give our best and show our potential.”A late start to ‘serious’ cricketFor the 1989-born, cricket was a pastime in Pakistan, rather than a serious pursuit.“I didn’t play a lot of club cricket in Pakistan. I played school cricket. I didn’t have in mind that I would take up cricket as a career,” he said. After moving to Canada, he joined the University of Toronto and completed a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration there.

Cricket initially fit around his studies. He would play club cricket in Toronto’s Super 9 league before making his debut for Canada in 2008.However, the early years were filled with inconsistency.“From 2008 to 2015, I was on and off in the team. I used to be picked and then dropped,” he added. “I was a youngster. I was new in the team. I was trying to make my place.”That changed in 2015. He gradually made his mark as a regular in the national side and became one of the team’s most trusted assets.A leader in the roomSaad played an integral part in leading Canada through the qualifiers into the T20 World Cup, later becoming the country’s first captain in the tournament’s history. Under his leadership, Canada regained ODI status in 2023.Although he doesn’t hold the captain’s armband anymore, the responsibilities have only got bigger.“I play my role as a bowling all-rounder, left-arm spinner, left-hand batsman, lower-middle order. I want to win matches for Canada through good performances. And I want to share my experience with the youngsters and groom them,” he said.

He has also had experience of playing foreign franchise cricket, including the Caribbean Premier League for St Lucia Zouks. In November 2021, he recorded a rare feat in T20Is: becoming the first man to concede no runs in a four-over spell and finishing with figures of 4-4-0-2 against Panama.Cricket became full-time over timeFor most of his career, cricket was not a full-time profession in Canada. Saad worked as a procurement analyst in an insurance company while playing international cricket.“It was very difficult at the start. After all, cricket was not a full-time profession in Canada,” he revealed. “Even when you play for Canada, you have to work together.”He negotiated leave for tours and sometimes worked remotely while travelling. But employers were not always welcoming. “There was a point when they said that we can’t accommodate you that much. So, you have to either work or play cricket,” he recalled.“When a company would start bothering me, I used to find another job. But I didn’t leave cricket.”In 2018, after becoming Player of the Match in the GT20 final and receiving opportunities in other franchise leagues, he made the decision to quit his job and focus fully on cricket.‘My parents started believing that I am talented’Saad moved to Canada with his family as the eldest son. The move was primarily for his university education. After three years, his family returned to Pakistan while he stayed back to complete his studies. However, eventually, his other four siblings also moved to Canada. Also, his father’s stance changed.ALSO READ: From ice hockey to T20 World Cup 2026’s youngest talents: Ajayveer Hundal finds ‘great feeling’ in Delhi“Eventually, when I got a call-up in the national team and started playing for Canada, my parents started believing that I am talented enough to represent Canada. After that, my dad started supporting me,” he added with a smile.“He then stopped telling me to give up cricket and focus on my studies. They now feel proud.”

Bombay high court to pass interim order on Navy challenge against highrise building near INS Shikra in south Mumbai tomorrow | Mumbai News

Mumbai: Bombay high court on Wednesday said it would pass an interim order on the petition filed Indian Navy’s Local Military Authority challenging as “illegal and unauthorised” the construction of an over 20-storey building near INS Shikra, a highly sensitive naval air station and VVIP heliport at Colaba, on Friday. A division bench of Justices Ravindra Ghuge and Abhay Mantri posted, as part-heard, to Friday, the petition while saying it was conscious of the sensitivity of the matter.“We are going to extend paramount importance to the security aspect. There is no doubt about it,” the bench orally said to Navy’s senior counsel R V Govilkar, after he argued that work on Jadhavji Mansion ought to be stopped as it flouts guidelines on construction heights for buildings within 500m of sensitive installations and lacks a Naval no-objection certificate (NOC).In the first half of the day, senior counsel Janak Dwarkadas for the builder, Opul Constructions Pvt Ltd, questioned what the Navy was doing for 15 years since permission was given and later when construction began. HC too questioned the Navy, saying it should have been more alert. Dwarkadas submitted the guidelines do not mandate a Naval NOC, and the 2011 guidelines only say defence can object on reasonable grounds if it feels construction within 500m above four storeys is a security threat. He added slums sit in the vicinity and questioned why they weren’t a threat.Govilkar said line of sight should be protected. He added the Navy pursued the matter with BMC since mid-2025, when the building was up to the 15th floor, and the civic body stalled replies. There was a NOC proposal received by the Navy for an adjoining proposed construction of Minoor Manor, and during that site inspection, Govilkar said, work on Jadhavji Mansion was noticed. Immediately, in July 2025, BMC was asked to stop work, but it did not, citing prior approvals. He added that only after regular follow-up did BMC, in Jan 2026, share plans for higher floors. He also said an IIT report stated that the building is probably 76m high. The bench suggested passing a holding order — till the matter is finally heard — by allowing construction up to 15 floors, which was the original permission in 2010 for a height of 53m with various conditions and subject to final orders. On Monday, HC had noted the builder’s senior counsel SK Mishra’s consent and directed not to send workers for construction or masonary work till Wednesday, given the then impending arrival of PM Modi to the city at the heliport near the site. On Wednesday, HC said as Thursday is a state holiday, it would pass an interim order on Friday.

Maharashtra’s Laadki Bahin beneficiary tally falls by 86 lakh after e-KYC verification | Mumbai News

Mumbai: The number of women who received the last payout of the Mahayuti govt’s flagship Mukhya Mantri Majhi Laadki Bahin Yojana fell by 86 lakh since the introduction of e-KYC verification, officials said.Maharashtra listed over 2.4 crore beneficiaries under the scheme until last year. However, only nearly 1.6 crore beneficiaries received the last payout for the month of December 2025. It was received in mid-January. This was a decline of 86 lakh beneficiaries. The total number of beneficiaries under consideration for the scheme reduced by 55 lakh. Only 1.9 crore women of the over 2.4 crore beneficiaries submitted their e-KYC documents from September 2025 until the deadline of December 31, 2025. Of these, nearly 1.6 crore women whose e-KYC details were accurate received their stipend for December 2025.Corrections within the 1.9 crore forms with e-KYC documents can be undertaken until March 31 through an online portal.A poorly worded question in the e-KYC form, which had a confusing double negative, led to a large number of women filling the form incorrectly. It said, “No one in your family works for the govt, right?” Many without a family member in govt service mistakenly answered in the affirmative instead of marking ‘No’.Beneficiaries also faced a major delay in receiving their January stipend of Rs 1,500 under the scheme — it was not received till February 18. Officials said this was because the funds for the scheme were not yet fully received from the different departments through which it was distributed. “The finance department distributes our funds through several departments. The funds which come to us from the social welfare department tend to get delayed,” said a senior official.Introduced from July 2024, the Laadki Bahin scheme, which provides a monthly stipend of Rs 1,500, is meant for underprivileged women between the ages of 18 and 65, with an annual family income of less than Rs 2.5 lakh, and who are domiciled in the state. The scheme helped power the Mahayuti’s return to govt in the state assembly polls in 2024. However, soon after the polls, govt began scrutinising the scheme to remove ineligible beneficiaries, with the state’s finances facing intense pressure owing to pre-poll sops. Its beneficiaries were scrutinised on the basis of several key criteria, including whether they fit the limit of Rs 2.5 lakh family income per year and whether they remained domiciled in the state. Those with four-wheeler vehicles and govt jobs were also being debarred from the scheme.State govt faced its highest-ever debt of Rs 9.3 lakh crore during the last budget and is likely to tighten its purse strings as it faces its next budget in March.

Ajit Pawar’s death: Aviation minister K Rammohan Naidu must step down till crash probe over, says MLA Rohit Pawar | Mumbai News

MUMBAI/PUNE: NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar on Wednesday demanded that civil aviation minister K Rammohan Naidu step down from his post until the probe into the Baramati air crash that killed Ajit Pawar is completed.Rohit, the nephew of late Ajit Pawar, alleged VSR Ventures, the charter company that operated the Learjet aircraft involved in the crash, was being protected. Five people including Pawar died in the accident. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau is expected to release a preliminary report by Feb 27.

Ajit Pawar Killed In Air Crash; ‘India Comes Out…’, Trump Aide on India-EU FTA | Headlines At 8

Rohit Pawar alleged that the civil aviation minister and his party, TDP, were close to the owners of VSR Ventures. “Some former ministers from Maharashtra and top TDP ministers from Andhra Pradesh attended the marriage of Rohit Singh, son of VSR owner V K Singh. The company is allowed to operate and top politicians are still using its Learjet planes,” he said. Naidu should not continue as aviation minister on moral grounds, he said, adding efforts were being made to shield the company. He welcomed the move by NCP netas, including Dy CM Sunetra Pawar, to seek a CBI probe.“Many issues I raised have been included in the letter,” Rohit Pawar said, adding the probe must be impartial and its findings submitted to a committee comprising aviation experts and political representatives. On Tuesday, the AAIB said special support has been sought to retrieve data from the Cockpit Voice Recorder of the aircraft.Rohit also said his family had expressed concern about his safety. as he had taken on the “high and mighty”. He further said that if there was a political angle to the accident, it could involve speculation that NCP (SP) might merge with NCP and join NDA, or that Ajit Pawar could quit NDA after such a merger. “Some groups were unhappy with either scenario,” he claimed. Baramati MP Supriya Sule also demanded a “transparent” inquiry into the crash. NCP (SP)’s Jayant Patil said burning of the “black box” was impossible in such accidents and, while the watch and mobiles were recovered from the crash site, damage to the black box was “unbelievable.”

Suryakumar Yadav lavishes praise on Shivam Dube

India will play the Round of Eight matches as an unbeaten side in the group stage of the T20 World Cup 2026. On February 18, the Netherlands tried their best but ended in a 17-run defeat against the defending champion and co-host of the tournament.

Suryakumar Yadav, the captain of Team India, is arguably the happiest man on the planet right now, as his team fought against all kinds of tough situations but still stands tall. After the match, Yadav heaped praise on Shivam Dube for his timely half-century and the bowling department for delivering with impact despite dew on the ground.

Suryakumar Yadav revealed why they went to bat first

Against the Netherlands, India won the toss and went to bat first to post 193 in exchange for 6 wickets. Mostly because of the dew factor, teams often prefer to bowl first. But the Men in Blue decided to walk in the opposite direction. Later, during the post-match presentation ceremony, Suryakumar Yadav revealed that batting first was amongst their plans, keeping the upcoming matches in mind.

Your daily dose of cricket!

“Yeah, obviously, I think we wanted to bat first. We went on to score 190, and then coming out, there was a little bit of dew, a little bit challenging for the bowlers…we might be in a similar situation on the next day also,” the skipper explained why he elected to bat first.

Suryakumar Yadav praised Shivam Dube for brilliant batting display

Early dismissals of Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan offered India a challenging situation. On 4.2 overs, India was 39 for 2, not an ideal start for a high-caliber team. From there, the middle order of the team stood tall and delivered, especially Shivam Dube.

The captain praised Dube for his 66-run knock against 31 balls. Suryakumar Yadav stated that fifty-plus-run innings helped the team most to achieve the total of 190-plus, which was a good total.

“I think the way he batted in the middle overs took pressure off everyone and took it to 190 on this wicket. I think it was a very good score,” Suryakumar Yadav added.

“I mean, I’m very happy with the way things are moving on. The contribution is almost coming from every single batter. That’s what I want: those small, small partnerships. When the game is a little tight, one or two might have a beautiful day, but then we need support from all the batters to get to a good score,” he concluded.

Varun Chakravarthy pushed the Netherlands batters behind

The Netherlands batter tried well, chasing the competitive target. Though, they managed to get 176 runs for 7 wickets in the 20-over limit. Despite having the dew factor, Varun Chakravarthy, the spinner, claimed three precise wickets in his 3-over spell for an economy rate of 4.67. Dube marked his contribution with his bowling too, bagging a couple of wickets.

Team India will next face South Africa for a Super 8 match on February 22 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad at 7.00 PM IST.
