WATCH: Auqib Nabi falls in unusual fashion to Prasidh Krishna in Ranji Trophy Final 2026

The Ranji Trophy Final 2026 at Hubballi took a dramatic turn on Day 3 as Karnataka’s pace spearhead, Prasidh Krishna, delivered a masterclass in persistence and skill. While the match had been dominated by a marathon batting performance from Jammu & Kashmir, the morning session belonged to Krishna, whose relentless spells finally broke the back of the J&K lower order. However, the talking point of the morning wasn’t just Krishna’s clinical fifer, but the incredibly unusual fashion in which Auqib Nabi lost his wicket, a moment that left commentators and fans alike in a state of disbelief.

Strange dismissal sees Auqib Nabi head back to pavilion in Ranji Trophy Final 2026

In a game defined by grit, Nabi’s departure will go down as one of the most bizarre sights in domestic cricket history. Facing the 163rd over of the innings, Nabi seemed mentally prepared for a short-ball barrage from the towering Krishna. As Krishna hit the crease for his sixth delivery of the over, Nabi pre-emptively committed to a duck, dropping his head and shoulders to avoid a bouncer that never came.

Instead, Krishna outsmarted the batter with a full-length delivery. Because Nabi had already crouched down, his bat was left dangled awkwardly in the air like a periscope. The ball skidded off the surface, kissed the edge of the static blade, and flew straight into the gloves of wicketkeeper Kruthik Krishna. Despite a difficult outing behind the stumps previously, Kruthik made no mistake in pouching the chance. Nabi stood frozen for a second, realizing he had effectively defended a full ball by trying to duck it, before trudging back to the pavilion for 2 (9). This wicket marked a turning point, providing Karnataka the opening they desperately needed to wrap up the tail.

Prasidh Krishna’s fifer halts J&K’s marathon innings

While the unusual dismissal grabbed the headlines, the statistical highlight was Krishna’s five-wicket haul. J&K’s first innings was a testament to endurance, spanning 173.1 overs and yielding a massive total of 584. The foundation was laid by Yawer Hassan (88) and a brilliant century from Shubham Pundir (121), while veteran Paras Dogra contributed a steady 70 despite a temporary retirement from the crease.

Krishna’s figures of 5/96 in 34.1 overs were the result of pure toil on a surface that offered little assistance by the third day. His victims included the top-order threat of Qamran Iqbal (63) and the dangerous Abdul Samad (61). By removing Abid Mushtaq and then Nabi in quick succession, Krishna ensured that J&K didn’t push the score beyond the 600-run mark.

At Lunch on Day 3, Karnataka faced a daunting task, reaching 35/1 in 13 overs. The hosts lost the crucial wicket of Rahul (13), trapped by Nabi, who found some redemption with the ball, after a successful DRS challenge by J&K. With Mayank Agarwal (16) and Devdutt Padikkal (4) at the crease, Karnataka trails by 549 runs, setting the stage for a massive uphill battle in the remaining sessions of this Ranji Trophy Final.

South Africa vs West Indies Live Score, T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8: West Indies face South Africa in high-stakes Super 8 clash

South Africa vs West Indies Live Score, T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8: Two of the most in-form teams in the tournament, South Africa and West Indies, will face off in a crucial Super 8 encounter with a semifinal spot firmly in sight. Both teams have been dominant so far, with South Africa registering an emphatic 76-run win over India in Ahmedabad and West Indies crushing Zimbabwe by 107 runs in their previous outing.

T20 World Cup: Schedule | Points Table

West Indies’ batting has been their biggest weapon, with multiple power-hitters capable of accelerating at any stage. Their aggressive approach has overwhelmed opponents, but the Proteas present a different challenge with a disciplined and varied bowling attack. Rabada’s pace, Jansen’s bounce, Ngidi’s variations and Maharaj’s control have combined effectively to trouble even the strongest line-ups.

South Africa’s batting has also delivered when needed, particularly through David Miller, whose composure under pressure helped rescue the team after early setbacks against India. His experience will be crucial again, especially against West Indies’ spin options such as Akeal Hosein.

The afternoon timing of the match may create balanced conditions, with no dew factor and a surface expected to slow down as the game progresses. This could bring spinners more into play and force batters to adapt rather than rely purely on power.

Having played extensively at the venue, South Africa will feel confident about their understanding of the conditions. The match also carries major implications for India, as a West Indies win would tighten the group and leave the hosts needing big victories in their remaining matches to stay in contention for the semifinals.

SQUADS

West Indies: Shai Hope (c), Johnson Charles, Shimron Hetmyer, Brandon King, Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford, Quentin Sampson, Roston Chase, Jason Holder, Romario Shepherd, Matthew Forde, Akeal Hosein, Shamar Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, and Jayden Seales.

South Africa: Aiden Markram (captain), Quinton de Kock (wk), Ryan Rickleton, Dewald Brevis, Tristan Stubbs, David Miller, Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, Keshav Maharaj, Corbin Bosch, Anrich Nortje, Kwena Maphaka, George Linde, Jason Smith.

DNPA Conclave 2026: Ashwini Vaishnaw says social media platforms must fairly share revenue with content creaters | India News

DNPA Conclave 2026: Ashwini Vaishnaw says social media platforms must fairly share revenue with content creaters

NEW DELHI: Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday said user consent must be mandatory for “all synthetically generated” content and called on digital platforms to take proactive steps to curb cyber fraud.Speaking at the Third Annual Storyboard18 Digital News Publishers Association (DNPA) Conclave 2025 in New Delhi, Vaishnaw said, “Platforms must take responsibility of what they are publishing. Times have gone when a platform could say that they are responsible for the content. Those times have gone because the platforms have themselves changed from being pure platforms to becoming hosts to the world. They must take the responsibility for the harmful content which is hosted by them.“Social media platforms must share revenue in a fair way with content creators… including creators sitting in far-flung areas, influencers, professors… There has to be a fair share of revenue with people creating content,” Vaishnaw said.“There has to be user consent for all synthetically generated content…platforms must take proactive action on cyber fraud,” he added.Emphasising the importance of trust in democratic systems, Vaishnaw said, “Human society is built upon trust and institution. When human beings created the social structures. They created so many institutions beginning with the institution of family, a social identity, judiciary, media, legislature and a democratic way of coming together and deciding things.”“All these institutions were built on one fundamental premise. The premise of trust,” he noted.“And that basically means that diff arms of the society, different institutions within the society and the individuals interacting with those institutions. They believe that institutions work on certain principles which are based upon trust,” he said.“Mutual trust defines the entire core of the institution,” the Union minister added.Warning that this foundation is under strain, Vaishnaw said, “The way the world is emerging today, that core tenet of trust is under threat. That threat is coming from so many different angles, deepfakes which can make you believe in things which have never happened anywhere.”“Disinformation barrage which can cause a sense of distrust, which doesn’t exist in real life. Creating synthetically generated photos and videos which have absolutely no relation with reality. And all that content when it reaches the common citizen. They start questioning the very basic structure of the society. And this is a big threat that every country including India is juggling with these issues now,” he added.Earlier, DNPA Chairperson and Manorama Online CEO Mariam Mammen Mathew opened the conclave, saying artificial intelligence and rapid shifts in the digital ecosystem are fundamentally reshaping how news is created, distributed, discovered and monetised.Speaking on the theme she said, “Transformation of Media in the Age of Artificial Intelligence is at a critical juncture as AI, evolving data governance norms, shifting platform economics and changing audience behaviour redefine digital journalism.”The DNPA Conclave 2026 brought together policymakers, media leaders and industry experts to discuss the rapidly evolving landscape of news, governance and digital innovation. As a key industry platform, the conclave featured curated panel discussions and expert-led sessions examining emerging trends, addressing shared challenges and outlining a forward-looking roadmap for India’s digital media ecosystem.Discussions focused on the evolving regulatory environment governing digital communications and how policy frameworks can balance innovation with consumer protection and industry growth in an AI-driven era. Sessions also explored how artificial intelligence is transforming newsroom workflows, content creation, distribution strategies and audience engagement across platforms. The conclave further examined where audiences are turning for credible information, how trust can be built and sustained, and what constitutes the new public square in a fragmented, platform-led media landscape. The impact of regulatory changes on various stakeholders was also discussed, including who stands to benefit, who bears the costs, and how the ecosystem can remain competitive and inclusive.

ISIS case accused claims ‘wipe out’ offer by suspected Army personnel; court seeks NIA reply | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: Areeb Majeed, an accused in an ISIS-linked case, has claimed that two individuals posing as Army officers approached him and offered to “wipe out” his trial if he joined a covert operation. The court has now sought responses from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and local police. Majeed, arrested in 2014 under anti-terror laws, filed an application stating that he does not seek any extrajudicial favours but wants his case to be decided strictly on legal merits, according to news agency PTI. Taking note of the plea, Special NIA Court Judge Chakor Baviskar on Wednesday described it as a “serious incident involving suspected impersonation, attempted inducement, subsequent pressure, and interference with the fair administration of justice.” The judge issued notices to the Bazar Peth police in Kalyan (Thane district) and the NIA, seeking their response to Majeed’s complaint. The matter has been adjourned to March 4. According to Majeed’s application, the incident occurred on February 21, 2026. He was at college when his wife informed him that an unidentified man and woman had arrived at their Kalyan residence and insisted on waiting inside for him. The woman, claiming to be from the Indian Army, allegedly told Majeed over the phone that she was accompanied by a senior Colonel-rank officer from New Delhi. She purportedly requested his “help” in a covert operation, promising to “wipe out the case pending against” him in return. Suspecting an attempt to prejudice his trial or entrap him further, Majeed refused them entry and immediately contacted the 112 emergency helpline and the NIA control room. The two individuals were later taken to Bazar Peth police station for questioning. Majeed’s NIA case alleges that he had travelled to Syria to join ISIS and returned to India to carry out terror activities. He was arrested in November 2014 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Indian Penal Code for waging war against the nation and other charges.

‘They fired the gun & judiciary is bleeding’: SC’s sharp remarks on NCERT over graft chapter — top 10 quotes | India News

'They fired the gun & judiciary is bleeding': SC's sharp remarks on NCERT over graft chapter — top 10 quotes

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday strongly reprimanded the NCERT over its now-withdrawn chapter in the newly introduced Class 8 textbook, which had been added to the syllabus days ago and outlined “corruption” and “backlogs” in the judiciary. Calling it a “deep-rooted conspiracy,” the CJI issued a show-cause notice to the NCERT director and pushed for action, seeking a “deeper probe” into the matter.Amid the controversy surrounding the top court’s remarks, it also directed the seizure of physical and digital copies of the NCERT textbook in circulation that contained the chapter on judicial “corruption.”

Here are the key observations made by the Supreme Court:

  • “They have fired the gun and the judiciary is bleeding today. Today, anybody can say anything. At times, there is a mounting attack on us, and we are aware of it. The material is available online, on the internet, and even in stores.”

  • “This is a very calculated move — the entire teaching will be dictated. When you look at how the Indian judiciary is portrayed as corrupt, it becomes evident what message is being sent. The entire teaching community will first be instructed that this is what they have to teach.”

  • “In reality, not a single section of society has been left untouched. It is a deep-rooted, well-planned, and orchestrated conspiracy.” the CJI said.

  • “There is not a single word of apology in NCERT’s communication, and instead, they have justified it.”

  • “It is my duty to find out who is responsible; heads must roll,” said CJI Surya Kant.

  • “We would like to have deeper probe,” said the Supreme Court.

  • “It seems there is a calculated move to undermine institution and demean dignity of judiciary.”

  • “If allowed to go unchecked, this will erode people’s faith in judiciary.”

  • “Such misconduct, having everlasting impact on judiciary, would fall within definition of criminal contempt.”

  • The top court further ordered a blanket ban on further publication of NCERT book, having “offending chapter” on judiciary in physical and digital form. The court directed Centre, state authorities to immediately comply with its directions.

The court will hear suo motu case on this matter on March 11.This follows the introduction of a new NCERT social science textbook for Class 8, which highlighted key challenges facing the country’s judicial system, including corruption, a heavy backlog of cases, and an insufficient number of judges. The revised chapter, titled ‘The Role of the Judiciary in Our Society’, goes beyond explaining the structure of courts and access to justice, addressing systemic issues that affect the functioning of the judiciary. Previous editions primarily focused on the organisation and role of courts. One section of the new textbook discusses corruption within the judicial system and its impact on access to justice, particularly for economically disadvantaged groups. “People do experience corruption at various levels of the judiciary. For the poor and the disadvantaged, this can worsen the issue of access to justice. Hence, efforts are constantly being made at the State and Union levels to build faith and increase transparency in the judicial system, including through the use of technology, and to take swift and decisive action against instances of corruption wherever they may arise,” the chapter states. The textbook also provides data on the scale of pending cases across courts, estimating around 81,000 cases in the Supreme Court, about 62.40 lakh in high courts, and approximately 4.70 crore in district and subordinate courts.
