Top 5 individual scores on T20 debut: Amit Passi equals record feat

Baroda wicketkeeper-batter Amit Passi has made an unforgettable entry into senior T20 cricket, blasting a sensational 114 off 55 balls on debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025.

Amit Passi joins Bilal Asif at the top of global T20 debut charts

The knock, played at Hyderabad’s Gymkhana Ground against Services, saw Passi equal the world record for the highest individual score on T20 debut, matching Pakistan’s Bilal Asif, who set the benchmark in 2015.

The 26-year-old’s innings instantly propelled him into cricket’s statistical spotlight, making him only the third Indian men’s cricketer to score a T20 century on debut.

Opening the batting, Passi launched a fearless assault from the outset, mixing classical stroke play with raw hitting power. His 55-ball 114 included 10 fours and 9 sixes.

Passi brought up his maiden T20 ton in 44 deliveries, dominating all phases of the innings and setting up Baroda’s imposing total of 220/5. His knock proved decisive as Baroda clinched a 13-run victory, moving further up the Elite Group standings.

Top 5 highest scores on T20 debut

With his debut fireworks, Passi now sits second – jointly at the top – in the list of the highest individual scores by any player on T20 debut across domestic and international competitions.

  1. Bilal Asif (Pakistan) – 114, Sialkot Region vs Islamabad Region, National T20 Cup 2015
  2. Amit Passi (India) – 114, Baroda vs Services, SMAT 2025–26
  3. Moin Khan (Pakistan) – 112, Sialkot Stallions vs Lahore Lions, 2005
  4. Matthew Spoors (Canada) – 108 not out (T20I), vs Philippines, 2022
  5. Shivam Bhambri (India) – 106, Chandigarh vs Himachal Pradesh, SMAT 2019

Baroda celebrates new match-winner

Baroda’s total of 220/5 was built almost entirely around Passi’s dominance, with his early acceleration allowing the middle order to bat freely. His ability to clear both sides of the wicket impressed scouts and analysts, who praised his balance at the crease and his readiness for high-pressure situations.

  • Passi now holds the highest T20 debut score by any Indian male cricketer.
  • He is among the fastest debut centurions in SMAT history.

MRTP notice scam in Vasai Virar; many notices ‘legally ineffective’ say activists | Thane News

VASAI: A political activist has unearthed a MRTP-notice-scam in Vasai Virar, in which a lot of MRTP notices issued to illegal constructions endup being toothless. Another activist has termed such notices as legally ineffective as it lacks basic identification of the property. Meanwhile, senior officials of the vvcmc have assured that soon a circular would be released making it mandatory to mention basic details in the MRTP notice, which are issued to the land owner and the developer/Contractor.A notice under the Maharashtra Regional & Town Planning Act, 1966, is issued to a landowner and the developer/contractor when the corporation finds out that the structure is illegal, and is termed as MRTP Notice in local jargon. However, activists say that the notice should identify the property with mentions like Survey Numbers, Hiss Number, name of the structure, name of the land owner etc. However a lot of MRTP notices only mention the total square feet of construction done along with a vague address and addressed to a person who may or may not be on the property documents.Dharmendra Nigam, Vasai Virar Spokesperson of Shiv Sena (Shinde), said that hundreds of notices issued in Vasai Virar can be termed as a mere formality as they dont even have property details mentioned. The vvcmc staff simply visits an illegal construction site and paste’s or hands over the MRTP notice, which is incomplete. This is a major scam and a few vvcmc staff are involved in this. He also added that such nameless notices cannot be a base for registering a serious offence like FIR and thus proves to be an escape route from the complainant, who is content with the notice issues. This is more than corruption, he concluded.Terence Hendriques, an activist mentioned that, “If the survey numbers, construction details, and the specific sections violated are not accurately mentioned, the notice becomes technically weak. As a result, developers easily obtain interim protection from the court. He has demanded an immediate inquiry into this serious negligence and has called for complete transparency and 100% accuracy in the notice-issuing process.A senior vvcmc official confirmed that a mrtp notice should be complete with all the details. A notice should confirm the identity of the property, he added

KALYAN: Even as top leaders of the Shiv Sena and the BJP attempted to project unity by sharing the stage at a programme in Dombivli, a fresh controversy has reignited tensions within the Mahayuti. The spark came from a statement by Shiv Sena district chief Arvind More, who likened intra-alliance competition to the battlefield philosophy of the Bhagvad Gita. More declared that “just as in the Gita, the enemy must be defeated even if he is one’s brother, only then can victory be achieved. Similarly, irrespective of who the Mahayuti candidate is, we will defeat them and ensure the Shiv Sena panel wins”.

The Truth Behind Curtailed Vande Mataram : Politics, Unity And A Century Of Cultural Tension

BJP leader Daya Gaikwad launched a sharp counterattack, saying, “Their ideology suggests killing one’s brother for power. Our party follows Shri Ram, who accepted exile so that Bharata could rule. Their thinking resembles Aurangzeb’s, not ours.” The controversy emerged just days after Dy CM Eknath Shinde and BJP state president Ravindra Chavan appeared together, signalling that earlier differences—especially over recent political inductions—had faded.

Rice stocks tank! Trump issues new tariff threat to India over rice dumping; Kohinoor sheds 10%

Rice stocks tank! Trump issues new tariff threat to India over rice dumping; Kohinoor sheds 10%

Indian rice exporters are having a hard day at Dalal Street on Tuesday after US President Donald Trump hinted at a possibility of another round of tariffs on Indian rice imports. The announcement triggered an immediate rout on the markets, raising concerns among investors. Kohinoor Foods saw the sharpest fall, sliding 9.9% to Rs 24.41, its intraday and 52-week low on the BSE. After the dip, the stock rose, to Rs 27.81, adding over 2.5%.LT Foods also fell heavily, dropping 6.5% to Rs 368, while KRBL retreated 2.7% to Rs 370.05. Later in the day, KRBL managed to come back in green figures, adding over 1.5% while LT Foods around also recovered, trading at Rs 376 at BSE, around 11:40 AM. Chaman Lal Setia Exports, another major player in the space, slipped 4.5% to Rs 243.05. However, it trimmed its losses to 0.29 loss, later. The sell-off was sparked by remarks Trump made during an event at the White House where additional assistance for American farmers was announced. The US President said that he intended to “take care” of what he described as the “dumping” of Indian rice in the US market, claiming that lower-priced imports from India, Vietnam and Thailand were damaging the competitiveness of domestic growers. “They shouldn’t be dumping,” Trump said. “You can’t do that,” he further added, as cited by Bloomberg. The suggestion of fresh tariff action comes at a time when the US administration is under pressure from the country’s farming community, a politically influential group ahead of the midterm elections. Farmers have been dealing with rising input costs and uncertain crop prices, some of which have been linked to earlier tariff decisions, ET reported. Trump also hinted that rice may not be the only commodity facing scrutiny, signalling that Canadian fertiliser imports could also be subjected to higher duties. Canada supplies a large share of potash to the US, and although certain imports fall under the North American trade agreement, new tariffs would raise production costs for US farmers. Potash and phosphate were recently added to the US critical minerals list, fuelling expectations of a push for greater domestic output.

More tariffs for India?

Washington had already imposed a 50% tariff on Indian goods, back in August. This consisted to the already levied 25% tariff and the additional 25% duties that US alleged was a due to India’s continued purchase of Russian oil that fueled Moscow’s war machine against Ukraine. A US delegation is due in India this week, but the likelihood of securing a rollback on tariffs is seen as low, ET reported. Canada, another US trade partner, has also been navigating uncertainty. Earlier proposals from Trump suggested duties on Canadian goods outside the USMCA framework could rise by up to 10%, potentially taking them to 45%. With policy signals from Washington once again clouding the outlook for agricultural trade, investors will be keeping a firm eye on rice-exporting stocks. Any further movement in US tariff policy, especially in sectors tied to farming communities, is expected to play a decisive role in market direction in the coming days.
