'Opened a massage parlour?' 3 northeastern women 'racially abused' by neighbours in south Delhi; video goes viral

NEW DELHI: Three women from Arunachal Pradesh have alleged that they were subjected to racial slurs, humiliation, and intimidation by their neighbours in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, following a dispute over repair work in their rented flat.A video of the incident has now gone viral on social media. The TOI can’t vouch for the veracity of the video. In the video, the accused woman can be heard calling the women “momo” and asking, “Rs 500 mei massage parlour mei kaam karne waali dhandhewali (You work at massage parlours as sex workers for Rs 500). Are you sitting here to do business? Have you opened a massage parlour at home?”The women had called an electrician to install an air conditioner in their fourth-floor flat on February 20 around 3.30 pm. Dust and debris from the drilling work fell to the floor below, prompting objections from their neighbours, Harsh Singh and his wife Ruby Jain, reported PTI.What began as a disagreement soon escalated into verbal abuse and racially charged remarks targeting the northeastern community. The accused also allegedly made offensive remarks, calling the women “gutter-chaap”, telling them to “go and sell momos” and saying “northeast people are shit.” The man, Harsh Singh, was also heard using derogatory language. At one point, the accused woman claimed social and economic superiority, saying, “Teri aukaat nahi hai… custom officer ka beta hai woh… politician ka beta hai (You have no standards. He is the son of a custom officer…a politician’s son).”A police officer was present during the altercation and is seen in the video attempting to calm the situation. The women confronted the couple in the footage, one of them saying, “Everyone heard what you said about my image. You made false allegations that I drink alcohol. Go check my room if you find any bottles there.”The women filed a complaint at the Malviya Nagar police station. An FIR has been registered under BNS sections 79 (word intended to insult a woman’s modesty), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 3(5) (common intention), and 196 (promoting enmity on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc.) against the couple. Section 196 is non-bailable and cognizable. No arrests have been made so far, according to PTI. “No physical injuries were reported. However, the complainants have alleged mental harassment and humiliation,” a senior police officer said. The women have demanded a formal apology, stating that the remarks targeted the dignity of the northeastern community. The situation reportedly worsened when a building broker allegedly informed the women that they would have to vacate the flat within two months due to planned repair work. The complainants have expressed apprehension about their safety and future accommodation.Police said further investigation into the matter is underway.

‘Will be credited in FASTag accounts’: 1.2 lakh commuters set to receive Rs 5.2cr in toll refund for 32-hour Mumbai-Pune expressway gridlock | Pune News

32-hour Mumbai-Pune expressway gridlock

PUNE: At least 1.2 lakh commuters would soon receive refunds totalling Rs 5.16 crore for toll collected during the 32-hour traffic gridlock after a gas tanker turned on its side near Khopoli on the Mumbai-Pune expressway on Feb 3, MSRDC officials said on Saturday. The refunds would cover tolls on both the expressway and the Pune-Bengaluru highway. “We have the data of the commuters from whom toll was collected even after orders were issued to suspend it following the gas tanker mishap. The amount will be reimbursed to commuters in their FASTag accounts in the coming week,” an MSRDC official told TOI.Last week, Maharashtra State Road Development Cor-poration (MSRDC) had assured that it would return the toll money collected during the traffic disruption on the Mumbai leg of the expressway for over a day. MSRDC had also sought detailed FASTag deduction data from its concessionaire, IRB Infrastructure, after toll collection was halted in view of the mishap and the resultant traffic jam.The official said IRB was told to clarify whether toll was collected despite being informed to suspend the collection. “It is believed that till the barriers were opened, there might have been transactions where funds were deducted from FASTag. We had sought data on the number of commuters whose money was deducted after the order was issued to suspend the toll collection. Those amounts will be refunded,” he said. The Feb 3 mishap resulted in severe congestion, leaving thousands of commuters stranded on the expressway without basic amenities. Travellers, including senior citizens, women and children, faced significant hardships, with many forced to cancel plans. Public anger grew when reports emerged that toll collection persisted at the Khalapur plaza for some time.Opposition politicians, including MNS chief Raj Thackeray, had then demanded that MSRDC, IRB and the traffic police ensure refunds to the affected commuters. The mishap also highlighted gaps in expressway infrastructure, including inadequate amenities and poor emergency response mechanisms. Critics accused authorities of prioritising toll collection over commuter welfare.Activist groups, Akhil Bharatiya Grahak Panchayat and All India Consumer Rights Organisation, have also issued legal notices to MSRDC and disaster management officials, seeking accountability and the creation of clear policies to prevent such incidents across national highways. Their representative Vijay Sagar told TOI that the notice sought to fix responsibility for the failure to provide essential facilities to commuters during the 32-hour standstill. It also recommends formulation of a clear policy and concrete measures to prevent similar hardships in the future, not only on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway but on highways across the country.

Bhupen Borah’s BJP switch: Ghosts of past rifts haunt Congress before Assam elections | India News

Former Assam Congress Chief Bhupen Borah to Join BJP, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Confirms

NEW DELHI: Is Congress faltering even before the run-up to the Assam assembly elections?Earlier on Sunday, the Congress in Assam faced its most significant setback yet as former state chief Bhupen Borah formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at their headquarters, Vajpayee Bhawan. While the defection of a state president is a seismic event in its own right, for the Congress, the true weight of the moment lies in its resemblance to the events of 2015.It appears the “ghosts” of the past have returned to haunt the grand-old party just as the state gears up for the 2026 assembly elections.

Former Assam Congress Chief Bhupen Borah to Join BJP, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Confirms

Ahead of the 2016 assembly elections, Himana left Congress after the party high command projected Tarun Gogoi’s son as the face of Assam’s Congress leadership despite Sarma’s key role in managing the 2011 election campaign for the party and helping it win an unprecedented 79 seats in the 126-member assembly.Recalling the event, Sarma recently claimed that Sonia had virtually cleared his name for the chief minister’s post — only for a phone call from Rahul Gandhi to change everything.“Madam (Sonia Gandhi), whom I still refer to as such, had asked me to decide on the date and I had told her that I would take oath the day after the Ambubachi Mela at Kamakhya Temple in June (2014),” he said.

.

“The situation changed after Rahul Gandhi made the calls,” Sarma added.Déjà vuHistory repeated itself in Borah’s case. Following his resignation, Congress leaders reached out to a long-faced Borah but failed. All India Congress Committee (AICC) state in-charge Jitendra Singh stated that Borah had “withdrawn” his resignation after discussions with the party leadership, including Rahul Gandhi, and that the resignation had not been accepted. However, Borah claimed Rahul called him “but did not say a word” about his resignation letter.“He mentioned how we helped the party grow, and he helped me over the years, which is true, but he did not say a word about my resignation letter,” Borah told news agency PTI.

.

“I had told Rahul Gandhi that I am feeling humiliated in the party, and then he said that he was also feeling humiliated. Then what is the value of my humiliation? I cannot tolerate such humiliation as I do not have so much capacity,” he added.During this time, the Assam chief minister announced that the doors of the BJP were open for Borah, promising that he would help him win from a “safe seat” in the assembly polls. Why Borah cut ties with CongressMany flashpoints contributed to the bitterness between Borah and Congress. In his letter to Kharge, Borah listed his grievances against Gaurav Gogoi and Rakibul Hussain. After resigning from the party, Borah launched an attack on a section of Congress leaders without taking names. He said he was prepared to stay in the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) but not in “APCC (R),” in an apparent reference to Hussain.“The prevailing perception in Assam is that the state unit of the Congress is being steered under the influence of Rakibul Hussain, a leadership arrangement that has not found resonance with a substantial section of the majority community in Upper Assam. His apparent connivance with Shri Jitendra Singh has further propelled the party towards calamity, pushing it to the brink of disaster and leading it ominously towards political doom. Politics, after all, is as much about perception as it is about principle, and when confidence erodes across key constituencies, the consequences are neither trivial nor transient,” the letter read.Borah also accused Gogoi of subjecting him to marginalisation in the party’s decision-making process.“Personal reversals I can withstand, but self-respect and dignity are not currencies with which I may barter. I find myself neither consulted on substantive party matters nor accorded the regard befitting a senior colleague. I do not articulate these reflections in a spirit of rancour, but in genuine perplexity as to why I appear to have been subjected to marginalisation at the hands of Gaurav Gogoi and Rakibul Hussain,” the letter read.Later, he alleged that Gogoi had broken the opposition alliance that he had stitched together a few years ago, fearing that if the opposition came to power “by chance,” he might not become the chief minister.“When I was given the responsibility to take the alliance forward once again on February 9, what was the point of including Dhubri MP Rakibul Hussain in the talks?” he asked.“Gogoi perhaps felt that if the alliance took shape, then Bhupen Borah would put everything amicably before Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, threatening his existence,” he claimed.Borah, who was chairman of the ‘Assam Sanmilita Mancha’ — a front of 16 opposition parties — also claimed that before the bypolls to five assembly constituencies in 2024, it was decided that a CPI(ML) candidate would contest the Behali seat as the outfit had secured 40,000 votes in the previous election.“I agreed to it, but my proposal was not considered by the AICC. Two or three leaders from the state unit also started discussing other names. Finally, a person was named as the Congress candidate who, till then, was not even a member of the party,” he said.

Assam assembly elections 2021

“The leaders of the other alliance parties then told me that if you cannot leave even one seat out of the five, what is there left to discuss for the 126 seats in the next elections? I then resigned as head of the coalition on moral grounds, and the Congress candidate lost badly,” he added.Borah also said that Congress state in-charge Jitendra Singh chaired a meeting with six leaders on February 9, where he was given responsibility for taking forward alliance talks ahead of the assembly polls.“I accepted it as it was the party’s decision. I also felt that an alliance was necessary as Congress could not tackle the BJP alone. I saw a need to unite anti-BJP votes,” he said.He added that the next day, Gogoi told him Rakibul Hussain would be actively involved in the talks.“I told him this was not the decision taken at the meeting. In the meantime, Nagaon Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi called me and said that if Rakibul was there, he would not tolerate it,” Borah claimed.“Amid this, Gaurav publicly said I was spreading misinformation about leading the talks. I had already spoken to leaders of other parties, including Akhil Gogoi,” he said.‘Congress separating itself from Hindu society’Meanwhile, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed Borah’s resignation marked a “separation” of Congress from Hindu society, calling him the last recognised Hindu leader in the state unit.“Bhupen Borah was the last recognised Hindu leader of the Congress,” Sarma said.Sarma asserted that more Congress leaders would cross over to the BJP and claimed disillusioned Muslim leaders might join Raijor Dal.“The BJP will have Raijor Dal and not Congress as its opposition in the 2031 assembly polls,” he claimed.Drawing parallels with his own journey, Sarma said Borah’s resignation reflected deeper issues within Congress.“His resignation carries the symbolic message that in Congress, no one from a normal family can prosper. Congress does not give recognition to people from ordinary families. I hail from an ordinary middle-class family, and the BJP has made me a chief minister,” he said.Congress marred with infights?Assam is not the only state where Congress is facing internal rifts. In Karnataka, chief minister Siddaramaiah and deputy DK Shivakumar have publicly displayed tensions. In Odisha, Mohammed Moquim resigned, citing organisational issues.

.

During the Bihar assembly elections, cracks resurfaced within Congress’s state unit. Rebel leaders protested after being denied tickets. The party eventually emerged as the weakest link in its alliance, recording the lowest strike rate among major partners.Borah now joins a growing list of leaders who exited Congress after clashes with the high command or state-level rivalries, including Jyotiraditya Scindia, Ghulam Nabi Azad, and Jitin Prasada, all of whom quit the party to join rivals. In the run-up to assembly elections in the state, the Congress finds itself at a crossroads, trying to navigate not only the BJP but also the familiar internal frictions that have historically hindered its momentum.

Fans react as Will Jacks’ spin masterclass powers England to dominant Super 8 win over Sri Lanka in T20 World Cup 2026

England delivered a clinical all-round performance to defeat Sri Lanka by 51 runs in the Super 8 Group 2 clash of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. After posting 146/9 in their 20 overs, England’s bowlers bundled Sri Lanka out for just 95 in 16.4 overs to register a commanding victory. Will Jacks was named Player of the Match for his impactful contribution with both bat and ball.

Phil Salt anchors England innings amid regular setbacks

Asked to bat first after Sri Lanka won the toss, England had a steady but cautious start. Phil Salt stood tall at the top of the order, playing a composed knock of 62 off 40 balls, striking six boundaries and two sixes. While Salt found fluency, wickets kept falling at the other end.

Jos Buttler struggled for rhythm and managed just seven runs, while Jacob Bethell and Tom Banton failed to convert their starts. Harry Brook injected some momentum with a quick 14 off seven balls, but Sri Lanka’s disciplined bowling ensured England never truly broke free.

Jacks added a valuable 21 off 14 balls, hitting four crisp boundaries, while late contributions from Sam Curran and Jamie Overton pushed England to 146/9 at the end of their innings.

Sri Lanka’s bowlers kept things tight throughout. Dunith Wellalage was particularly impressive, claiming three wickets for 26 runs in his four overs. Maheesh Theekshana picked up two wickets while conceding just 21 runs, and Dilshan Madushanka also struck twice to keep England under pressure.

Will Jacks dismantle Sri Lanka’s chase

Chasing 147, Sri Lanka never found stability in their innings. Early breakthroughs from Jofra Archer and Liam Dawson dented the top order. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis failed to build momentum, and Sri Lanka slipped into trouble inside the powerplay.

Dasun Shanaka attempted a counterattack with a fighting 30 off 24 balls, including two sixes, while Kamindu Mendis chipped in with 13. However, regular wickets halted any hopes of a comeback.

Jacks turned the game decisively with the ball, claiming three wickets for 22 runs in his four overs. His spell dismantled Sri Lanka’s middle order at a crucial stage. Adil Rashid was equally effective, finishing with two wickets for just 13 runs in 3.4 overs, while Dawson and Archer chipped in with two wickets each. Sri Lanka were eventually bowled out for 95 in 16.4 overs, handing England a comprehensive 51-run win.

Hara-kiri at Pallekele! Sri Lanka batters surrender meekly after Phil Salt’s sublime 62; England win by 51 runs | Cricket News

TimesofIndia.com in Kandy: Sri Lankan fans packed the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in full voice as England’s batters obligingly threw their wickets away. The noise, however, didn’t last long. What followed was an even more miserable spectacle from the home side, a collapse so poor that it briefly resembled a contest to produce the ugliest dismissal of the night. After opting to bat first, England were still pinned down by a Sri Lankan bowling performance that, for all its discipline and variety, deserved far more than what was to come later. Despite recent injury concerns, it was close to a textbook T20 effort: left-arm pace from Dilshan Madushanka, loopy left-arm spin from Dunith Wellalage, mystery spin from Maheesh Theekshana, and raw, hostile pace from Dushmantha Chameera, who nailed his yorkers and exploited the around-the-wicket angle. England scraped to 146 for 9, a total that felt at least 20 runs short on a slow, two-paced surface. Then came the implosion. Sri Lanka’s chase unravelled almost instantly, wickets tumbling with numbing predictability. Shot selection was reckless, execution worse. After losing to Zimbabwe in their final group match, this crushing 51-run defeat in their opening game against England may not just damage their campaign; it could well bring an end to their semifinal hopes.

Salt’s masterclass

England’s innings was a study in contrast: the composure and clarity of Phil Salt set against a broader batting effort that unravelled once Sri Lanka’s spinners tightened the screws. On a surface offering just enough grip, with the outfield slowed by damp patches, England never truly escaped the chokehold, despite Salt’s fluent 62 off 40 balls while battling cramps in the humidity. For Sri Lanka, the tone was set early by Madushanka, who found a hint of swing with the new ball. He kept Salt and Jos Buttler quiet, conceding only four runs in his opening over and repeatedly probing the fourth-stump line. Buttler, under constant examination, struggled to settle. When Sri Lanka introduced Wellalage as early as the second over, the intent was clear: attack England with spin from the outset.

Salt momentarily broke the shackles, leaning back to loft Wellalage over extra cover for the first six of the innings, but the pressure rarely relented. Madushanka continued to tease Buttler with full lengths and subtle changes of pace, conceding just three runs in a miserly over. The contest ended abruptly when Wellalage trapped Buttler in front, the England skipper departing for a scratchy 7 off 14.Sri Lanka sensed an opening and doubled down with aggressive fields. Jacob Bethell walked into a leg slip and perished soon after, miscuing a slog to give Madushanka a sharp catch. At the end of the powerplay, England were 37 for 2.Spin dominated the middle phase. Wellalage and Theekshana bowled with control and imagination, varying pace and trajectory to force errors. The duo conceded 47 runs and shared five wickets. Harry Brook fell to drift and dip from Wellalage, while a needless run-out accounted for Tom Banton. At halfway, England were 68 for 4.Salt kept England afloat, reaching a well-judged fifty off 36 balls. A couple of clean strikes off Chameera lifted the tempo and brought up England’s 100, but support remained fleeting. Salt’s resistance ended when he failed to clear long-off against Wellalage, departing for a high-quality 62. Theekshana wrapped up the lower order, while Wellalage completed a three-wicket haul.

Sri Lanka imploded

Sri Lanka’s chase unravelled in a blur as England ripped through the batting with a ruthless new-ball burst and a remarkable spell of part-time spin from Will Jacks.Jofra Archer set the tone, testing Pathum Nissanka with sharp short balls. Nissanka briefly counterpunched before Archer induced a mistimed pull, safely taken by Jamie Overton.England then went bang-bang. Kusal Mendis chipped one straight back to Will Jacks, before Pathan Rathnayake charged first ball and skied one to Tom Banton. Archer removed Kamil Mishara with a thick edge, Overton taking a sharp catch at fly slip.Jacks struck twice more as Wellalage picked out Brook and Kamindu Mendis chipped Dawson straight down the ground. Chaos followed when Dushan Hemantha dragged a pull shot onto his own stumps. Sri Lanka’s last hope, Dasun Shanaka, fell after a fine relay catch by Jacks and Banton. Shanaka top-scored with 30 off 24 balls.Sri Lanka were bowled out for 95 runs in 16.4 overs. For England, Jacks (3/22), Liam Dawson (2/27), Archer (2/20) and Adil Rashid (2/13) were the standout bowlers.Brief scoresEngland 146/9 in 20 overs (Phil Salt 62; Dunith Wellalage 3/26, Maheesh Theekshana 2/21)Sri Lanka 95 all out in 15.2 overs (Dasun Shanaka 30; Will Jacks 3/22, Jofra Archer 2/20)

From posters in Delhi to raids in Tamil Nadu & Bengal: How cops busted Pakistan-based terror plot in India | India News

From posters in Delhi to raids in Tamil Nadu & Bengal: How cops busted Pakistan-based terror plot in India
Delhi Police Special Cell arrests 8 accused involved in planning a terror plot linked with Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI, and Bangladeshi terrorist organisations. (ANI)

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police Special Cell has busted a terror module allegedly linked to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) handlers operating from Bangladesh, arresting eight suspects and preventing what officials described as a major untoward incident. The operation spanned Delhi, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, uncovering a network accused of pasting anti-national posters, conducting reconnaissance and planning terror activities at the behest of Pakistan’s ISI and Bangladesh-based operatives.

Anti-India posters trigger probe

The case began on February 7, when anti-national posters were found pasted on pillars at the Kashmiri Gate Metro station and nearby locations in Delhi.Addressing a press conference, Additional CP (Special Cell) Pramod Kumar Kushwaha said, “A team from the Special Cell busted a module that was being handled by a Lashkar handler based in Bangladesh. A major untoward incident has been prevented. On February 7th, anti-national posters were pasted on pillars at the Kashmiri Gate Metro station and some nearby metro stations in Delhi. The CISF noticed this and brought it to the attention of the Metro unit of the Delhi Police. The Special Cell team went to Kolkata.” Two suspects Umar Farooq and Bangladeshi national Robil Ul Islam were arrested in Kolkata with the help of local police.Kushwaha said, “With the help of the local police, two people were arrested, and one of these two people was Umar Farooq and with him a Bangladeshi, Robil Ul Islam. Both of them were arrested, and they revealed that anti-India posters were put up at many places in Delhi, the posters that echoed terrorists, were put up by these two. Later, it was found out through interrogation and investigation that the direction to them was being given by Shabbir Ahmed Lone, from Bangladesh.Police sources said that four of the eight accused had earlier come to Delhi and pasted “Free Kashmir” and other provocative posters at a metro station during the AI Summit before returning to Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.

Bangladesh-based handler identified

Investigations revealed that the module was allegedly directed by Shabbir Ahmed Lone, a resident of Ganderbal in Kashmir, currently based in Bangladesh.“In 2007, Shabbir Ahmed Lone was arrested, and AK-47, grenades were found on him, and he had come for ‘fidayeen’ to kill a senior political leader…He remained in jail for many years and was released in 2019. After his release, he again fled to Bangladesh. He is a resident of Ganderbal, Kashmir. Initial investigations have revealed that he reconnected with the LeT leadership and re-established his organisation to carry out terrorist activities,” Kushwaha said.According to police, Lone allegedly reassembled his associates and conducted dry runs in multiple cities.“He (Lone) reassembled his men and conducted dry runs with these men. He had posters put up in various locations. He did so not just in Delhi, but also in Kolkata. On February 10th, he put up anti-India posters at several metro stations and other locations in Kolkata. He also rented a house in Kolkata…” Kushwaha added.

Raids in Tamil Nadu: Dozens mobile phones & SIM cards seized

Further investigation led the Special Cell to Tamil Nadu, where six more suspects, all Bangladeshi nationals were arrested with the assistance of the Tamil Nadu Police.“The investigation revealed that some individuals who are Bangladeshi nationals were in Tamil Nadu. They were going to take them back to Kolkata and plant them in a terrorist activity before they could do anything. The team then went to Tamil Nadu and, with the help of the Tamil Nadu police, arrested six more people, all of whom are Bangladeshi nationals,” Kushwaha said.Earlier, police had identified six accused from Tamil Nadu, Mizanur Rahman, Mohammad Shabat, Umar, Mohammad Litan, Mohammad Shahid and Mohammad Ujjal, who were arrested and brought to Delhi. Two were picked up from Uthukuli, three from Palladam and one from Thirumuruganpoondi. They were working in the garment industry and allegedly concealing their identities using fake Aadhaar cards.During the raids, police recovered dozens of mobile phones and SIM cards. In one phase of the operation alone, eight mobile phones and 16 SIM cards were seized.Officials said the accused were in contact with each other through social media and were allegedly posting content in support of Pakistan-based terrorist organisations. Investigators also suspect the group conducted reconnaissance of several cities.

Larger terror alert

The crackdown comes amid intelligence inputs warning of a possible terror threat in the national capital. Sources said Lashkar-e-Taiba may be plotting an IED attack, with a temple in the Chandni Chowk area and areas around the Red Fort potentially on the radar.“Blast alert in front of the Red Fort in Delhi. Terrorists may target a temple in Chandni Chowk. Lashkar-e-Taiba is plotting an IED attack. They are planning a major terrorist attack in India to avenge the February 6th mosque blast in Islamabad, Pakistan. Major temples in the country can be targeted by Lashkar-e-Taiba,” intelligence sources said.Police said all eight accused are being brought to Delhi for further interrogation and that the investigation is ongoing.

India-EU FTA to deepen trade ties and tech cooperation, says Austrian official

India-EU FTA to deepen trade ties and tech cooperation, says Austrian official

The EU-India Free Trade Agreement is expected to open significant opportunities across trade, artificial intelligence and resilient supply chains, Austria’s State Secretary in the Federal Chancellery Alexander Proll said, describing the pact as a major step forward in economic cooperation. In an interview with PTI, Proll called the agreement a transformative arrangement that could benefit nearly 200 crore people by creating one of the world’s largest free trade zones. The comments came as the agreement moves towards final legal and institutional approvals. “Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi visited Austria in 2024 because of 75 years of the diplomatic relationship and now, we have the free-trade agreement. It is the mother of all deals. I think it is a win-win situation for the whole European Union and India,” Proll said.Negotiations on the FTA were re-launched in 2022 after years of discussions, and the deal is expected to eliminate or reduce tariffs on 96.6 per cent of EU exports to India by value and 99.5 per cent of Indian exports to the EU by trade value.Proll identified artificial intelligence as a key pillar of future collaboration, describing it as “the next step after digitalisation.”“Our principle is that AI should serve for people … a human-centred AI. We build human-centred AI around people to save democracy and make innovation happen. I think that is the way we can learn from each other,” he said.Highlighting supply chains, Proll said closer economic integration should focus on balanced interdependence rather than isolation.“It is not about being isolated, it is about creating dependencies on both sides. So it is all about getting closer to each other and the FTA is one part of putting the countries more together,” he said. The agreement is currently awaiting final legal vetting and ratification by EU institutions, including consent from the European Parliament, along with completion of India’s domestic procedures. Implementation is expected within the coming months to a year.

UP horror: 5 of family found dead in locked Kasganj house; murder-suicide suspected | Agra News

AGRA: Five members of a family, including three children, were found dead inside their locked house in Amanpur town of Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj district on Saturday evening. Police suspect a murder–suicide after preliminary examination of the scene.Shyamveer Singh, 50, a welder, his wife Ramshree, 46, daughters Prachi, 14, and Akanksha, 12, and son Girish, 10, lived near a petrol pump in Amanpur. Their neighbours alerted police after noticing that the house had remained shut for an unusually long time and spotting Shyamveer hanging inside through an iron grill.Police reached the spot around 6:30pm and cut open the door using a welding machine to enter the house. Officers found Shyamveer hanging from the ceiling, while his wife and three children lay inside the room. Senior officers, forensic experts and a dog squad examined the scene as police secured the premises and began collecting evidence.Kasganj SP Ankita Sharma said, “We received information about the incident at 6:30pm. The house has one door in front and one at the back and both were locked from the inside. There are no signs of entry. Five bodies have been recovered, one of Shyamveer and four of his family members. All bodies have been taken into custody and necessary action is being taken.”Sharma added, “Prima facie, it appears that Shyamveer carried out the incident and later hanged himself, but we are investigating all aspects. Ramshree has one injury on her neck, which will be examined during the post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death. We are considering every possible angle.”Police said the three children did not show visible external injury marks during the initial inspection.
