Imad Wasim’s ex-wife seeks help from PM Shehbaz Sharif, Mohsin Naqvi

NEW DELHI: Imad Wasim’s former wife, Sannia Ashfaq, has made serious allegations against the Pakistani cricketer through social media posts. She accused him of forcing her to undergo an abortion in December 2023 and called him a “murderer,” saying she has proof to support her claims. She also accused him of cheating on her and urged people to boycott Islamabad United, the PSL team that recently signed him.

In one post, she wrote: “In December 2023, he got my child aborted in Lahore. He’s a murderer, and I have a video that proves it. He cheated on me. @islamabadunitedpsl has given a chance to a murderer and a cheater. #boycottislamabadunited No cheater or murderer should get an escape.” Ashfaq said she was forced into the abortion and suffered physically and emotionally. She claimed she received no support from Wasim during that time and was silenced whenever she tried to speak out. In a video, she said, “With a lot of courage, I am recording this video because I want not only the truth for my children but also justice.” She stressed that she is seeking justice, not revenge, and requested an investigation by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi. She added, “I seek respect, not revenge. I hope my voice will be heard.”Ashfaq also shared WhatsApp screenshots, alleging Wasim threatened to file a harassment case against her when she contacted him during her pregnancy. She wrote that instead of support, “he threatened me… while I was carrying his child.”

Maharashtra govt to add 8,300 new buses to revive MSRTC and cut losses | Mumbai News

Mumbai: The state govt on Feb 19 announced that MSRTC will procure 8,300 buses in its fleet this year to address an acute shortage that has affected services across routes.MSRTC caters to over 50 lakh commuters daily across Maharashtra.

AI Impact Summit, Supreme Court on CAA, India-France Ties & More

An official from the bus corporation told TOI that the MSRTC has been under sustained financial stress and is currently losing Rs 1 to 1.5 crore every day.The MSRTC fleet and ridership have not returned to pre-pandemic levels. Before Covid-19, the corporation operated around 18,000 to 19,000 buses and carried nearly 66 lakh passengers daily. Bus procurement slowed over the last four to five years amid the pandemic and prolonged employee strikes, and by the end of 2024 the fleet had fallen to about 12,600 buses, leaving many routes with insufficient trips.Under MSRTC’s long-term policy, the corporation plans to purchase 20,000 to 25,000 buses over the next few years. The govt has given in-principle approval, with 8,300 buses slated to join in the first phase this year. The first phase includes 3,000 high-capacity buses with a 3×2 seating layout and 55 seats, to be inducted in phases from March. Named after Rajmata Jijau Saheb, these buses will be deployed on heavily crowded intercity routes. The plan also covers 5,000 regular buses, with the tender process in its final stage, 100 midi buses intended to extend connectivity to remote and tribal areas, and 200 ultra-modern buses aimed at competing with private operators. After induction, MSRTC is targeting 70 to 75 lakh passengers daily in future.Passenger numbers had increased significantly last year after govt introduced a 50% fare concession for women and free travel for senior citizens above 75 years. The bus corporation now carries about 50 lakh passengers daily, but officials acknowledge that demand outstrips supply on several corridors. When contacted, state transport minister Pratap Sarnaik said, “If buses increase, passengers will increase, and if passengers increase, revenue will automatically grow.” He said that that higher capacity will translate into stronger earnings and improved reliability.MSRTC’s daily expenditure is estimated at Rs 35 crore, while revenue is around Rs 33 crore. Sarnaik said MSRTC is a public lifeline rather than a profit-driven enterprise, but added that balancing costs and income is essential to minimise losses.“The overnight rural bus services, better access to tribal hamlets and additional buses on crowded routes will strengthen operations and curtail losses for the corporation by year-end,” a senior official added.

‘Our 12th man is with us’: Shadab Khan makes big revelation after Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 qualification

In a powerful display of resilience, Pakistan have stormed into the Super 8s of the T20 World Cup 2026 following a clinical 102-run victory over Namibia on February 18, 2026. Beyond the tactical brilliance on the field, a unique psychological shift has taken hold of the squad. Following their must-win triumph in Colombo, star all-rounder Shadab Khan revealed that the team is no longer playing with just eleven men on the field. He credited their newfound momentum to a mysterious ’12th man’, a factor he believes will be the catalyst for a title charge.

‘Our 12th man is with us’: Shadab Khan’s powerful message after Pakistan book Super 8 spot

The mystery of Pakistan’s extra supporter was solved during the post-match press conference, where Shadab linked the team’s surge to the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan. With the squad facing immense criticism following a heavy defeat to India, Shadab insisted that the spiritual strength of the fasting month has provided an unbreakable morale boost. Using his full remarks to explain the team’s mindset, he stated:

“At the end of the day, you can only control certain things, so you should focus on controlling those. And now Ramadan has started, humara 12th man toh saath hi hai (our 12th man is with us). The Super 8 will be difficult. These will be high-pressure matches. Ramadan has begun, and it will be like our 12th player.” Shadab was quoted as saying by NDTV Sports.

Shadab further dismissed the noise from former cricketers, noting that the current squad remains focused on their internal ‘process’ rather than external opinions. By framing the holy month as a tangible advantage, the all-rounder has signaled that the 2009 champions are mentally prepared for the grueling schedule ahead, which includes high-octane clashes against England and New Zealand.

T20 World Cup 2026: Sahibzada Farhan’s historic ton seals Pakistan’s Super 8 qualification

On the field, Pakistan’s performance was nothing short of ‘lethal and ruthless,’ as described by captain Salman Ali Agha. The centerpiece of the victory was a record-shattering maiden T20I century by Sahibzada Farhan, who became only the second Pakistan batter in history, after Ahmed Shehzad in 2014, to score a hundred in a T20 World Cup.

Farhan’s unbeaten 100 off 58 balls, featuring 11 boundaries and 4 towering sixes, anchored Pakistan to a massive 199/3. The bowling department then took over, led by mystery spinner Usman Tariq, whose bamboozling ‘pause-and-bowl’ action earned him career-best figures of 4/16. Supported by Shadab Khan’s clinical 3/19, the Pakistan attack bundled Namibia out for just 97 runs in 17.3 overs. This 102-run demolition not only secured their Super 8 berth but also marked Pakistan’s largest-ever margin of victory in T20 World Cup history, officially ending the dreams of the USA, who had hoped for a Namibian upset to stay in the hunt.

Trump withdraws support for Chagos deal as four Chagossians land on disputed archipelago saying they plan to settle there

Trump Warns Starmer Against Chagos Deal Ahead Of Potential Iran Strikes | DETAILS

US President Donald Trump (AP)

LONDON: US President Donald Trump has, in a U-turn, withdrawn US support for British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s deal to hand the Chagos Islands over to Mauritius, calling it a “big mistake” and saying the claims made on the island “are fictitious”.In a post on Truth Social on Wednesday, Trump called the 99-year lease Starmer has negotiated for the largest island, Diego Garcia, which hosts a joint UK-US military base, in exchange for handing over sovereignty of the entire archipelago to Mauritius “tenuous, at best”. He wrote: “This land should not be taken away from our ally” and said the US may use the military base in the event of a war with Iran. He wrote that the UK “have to remain strong in the face of Wokeism…DO NOT GIVE AWAY DIEGO GARCIA!”

Trump Warns Starmer Against Chagos Deal Ahead Of Potential Iran Strikes | DETAILS

The president’s attack on Starmer was a sharp reversal from two weeks ago and in direct contrast to a statement made on Tuesday by the US state department which said it “supports the decision of the UK to proceed with its agreement with Mauritius concerning the Chagos archipelago”.It comes as four Chagossians landed on the archipelago in a rubber dinghy on Monday saying they plan to settle there. They include govt-in-exile first minister Misley Mandarin and his father Michel Mandarin (74), who was born on the island and removed from it when he was 14 and sent to Mauritius.Chagossians were forcibly removed by the UK between 1968 and 1973, at the request of the US, to make way for the military base, and displaced to Mauritius, Seychelles and the UK.On Wednesday a British patrol boat arrived and officials served the men, accompanied by ex Tory MP Adam Holloway, an eviction notice threatening prison or a £3,000 fine. The men vowed to stay and Misley said the British authorities will have to “kill” him to remove him.An FCDO spokesperson said: “There is no legal right for anyone to enter the territory without a valid permit, regardless of their citizenship or heritage”, and called it an “illegal unsafe stunt”, adding it was working with Mauritius to resume a programme of heritage visits to the Chagos Archipelago for Chagossians. The spokesperson also indicated that Starmer planned to push ahead with the deal, saying it is “the only way to guarantee the long-term future of this vital military base” on Diego Garcia.

Pakistan Hockey Federation president Tariq Bugti has resigned following the controversy over the Pakistan national team’s accommodation during its recent tour of Australia for the FIH Pro League.Bugti confirmed on Thursday that he had sent his resignation to PHF’s patron-in-chief, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.“I have sent my resignation letter to the PM but I urge him and Field Marshal Asim Munir to conduct an impartial inquiry into the whole incident which took place in Australia during the FIH Pro League,” Bugti said, as cited by news agency PTI.Field hockey is Pakistan’s national sport, though cricket remains more popular in the country. Pakistan, which has won three Olympic gold medals and four World Cups, is currently ranked 14th in international hockey. The controversy began after a video circulated on social media showing Pakistan players standing on the streets of Sydney with their luggage.Soon after the video went viral, Pakistan captain Shakeel Ammad Butt released another clip saying everything was fine and there were no issues with accommodation. However, after returning home, Butt criticised the PHF at a press conference in Lahore, blaming the federation for mismanagement during the tour. In another video, he said the team had to wander the streets due to lack of accommodation and also had to “wash dishes before playing a match.”He also said nine players had not received daily allowances from the Pakistan Sports Board and PHF for the past year.Players questioned why they faced logistical problems in Australia despite the government providing funds to the PHF for participation in all three phases of the Pro League, whose second phase ended earlier this week.Following Butt’s remarks, Bugti imposed a two-year ban on him, saying the captain had brought disrepute to Pakistan hockey.Bugti’s resignation comes as the PHF and the Pakistan Sports Board blame each other for the episode. Bugti said the PSB handled arrangements for the Australia tour and was responsible for what happened. When asked about a cheque of more than one million rupees sent by the PSB to the PHF for hotel expenses, he did not respond. The team’s head coach has also offered to resign. He said some players were very indisciplined, including Butt, who used abusive language against teammates and affected the team’s performance in the Pro League.Pakistan have lost all eight matches so far and are last among nine teams in the competition. They have also failed to qualify for the last three Olympic Games and finished 12th at their most recent Hockey World Cup appearance in 2018.Pakistan will travel to Egypt in four months to compete in the final qualifying tournament for the next World Cup.

Real estate tribunal stays MahaRERA chair’s order | Mumbai News

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Real Estate Appellate Tribunal (MREAT), in an interim order, has stayed MahaRERA chairperson’s Sept 2025 order on a flat buyer’s complaint over the promoters’ failure to hand over possession of the property in Mulund. The tribunal also stated the issuance of two versions of the order on Sept 9 and 10, 2025, “by altering contents in a few paragraphs”, both digitally signed by the chairperson, warrants full investigation by the authority. The tribunal’s order was passed following an appeal against the order passed by MahaRERA chairperson Manoj Saunik on Sept 10, 2025, which recalled and set aside two orders passed by the MahaRERA adjudicating officer.

AI Impact Summit, Supreme Court on CAA, India-France Ties & More

The tribunal stated while MahaRERA can invoke the inherent power to meet the ends of justice, the same cannot be invoked if there are remedies available under the statute. Besides, there is a provision of appeal under the RERA Act, 2016, for an aggrieved person to approach the appellate forum, it said. Therefore, the authority cannot use the inherent power to hear the matter again on merits. Nowhere, a case has been made out that the adjudicating officer had abused the process of law, hence, the impugned order prima facie appeared unsustainable, the tribunal said. MREAT also observed the MahaRERA chairperson’s impugned order was passed without granting the parties an opportunity for hearing.Home buyer Pramod Ashtekar and his wife, represented by advocate Nilesh Gala, purchased a flat in Nirmal Lifestyle’s ACE and Matchpoint project at Mulund worth over Rs 1 crore in 2013. Subsequently, Ricardo Construction took over the project from Nirmal Lifestyle. The home buyers, promised possession by Dec 2015, moved MahaRERA, aggrieved by the promoter’s failure to hand over possession. The complainants and Nirmal Lifestyle settled the matter and filed consent terms in Feb 2019. Later, the complainant alleged the consent terms were breached after a while, and moved MahaRERA for “non-compliance”.Subsequently, Ricardo Constructions, which took over the project, failed to pay the amounts as per the consent terms executed with Nirmal Lifestyle and denied its liability. After the complainants filed a non-compliance application before the adjudicating officer in March 2024, the officer passed directions for issuance of a recovery warrant against Ricardo. However, Ricardo challenged the Nov 14, 2024, passed by the adjudicating officer, which led the officer to modify the amount to be recovered in its order on March 5, 2025.Thereafter, Ricardo filed another application, following which the adjudicating officer stated the execution proceedings initiated by the complainant against Ricardo cannot proceed in view of an order passed by MahaRERA chairperson on Sept 10, 2025, setting aside orders passed by the adjudicating officer on Nov 14, 2024, and March 5, 2025. MREAT held the adjudicating officer had jurisdiction to entertain the non-compliance complaint and Ricardo’s liability was determined through a reasoned order.

Maharashtra: Thane resident duped of 64 lakh in crypto investment fraud | Mumbai News

Thane: A 54-year-old resident from Rabodi in Thane was allegedly duped of Rs 64 lakh in a cryptocurrency investment fraud orchestrated by cyber criminals posing as financial advisers. Rabodi police registered an offence against unidentified persons operating under the aliases “AimeQueen” and “Global Financial Customer Care”, officials said.According to police, the victim was contacted in late Dec 2025 by individuals who introduced themselves as representatives of a reputed international crypto trading firm. Through regular phone calls and online messages, the accused allegedly built confidence and persuaded him to invest in a purported trading platform named “ComeBit-com”, assuring him of substantial and quick returns. Between Dec 27, 2025, and Jan 22, 2026, the victim transferred Rs 64 lakh in 13 separate online transactions to multiple bank accounts shared by the suspects. Police said the platform displayed fabricated profit figures to encourage further investments. The fraud came to light when the victim attempted to withdraw his funds but was asked to deposit additional amounts under various pretexts, including “processing charges” and “tax clearance”. When he refused and demanded a refund, the so-called customer care representatives became unreachable, and the online portal stopped responding. An FIR was registered on Feb 17, 2026, after a complaint was filed through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. The case was registered at Rabodi police station, and the accused were booked under sections 319(2), 318(4), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with sections 66(C) and 66(D) of the Information Technology Act. Police are tracing the bank accounts, digital payment trail, IP addresses, and mobile numbers used in the fraud. Officials urged citizens to verify investment platforms before transferring funds and to remain cautious of schemes promising unusually high returns.

Relief for US homebuyers as mortgage rates dip to 6.01%, lowest level in over 3 years

A drop in US mortgage rates is offering early encouragement to prospective homebuyers ahead of the crucial spring homebuying season, even as borrowing costs continue to hover near the 6% mark. The average rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage declined to 6.01% this week from 6.09% a week earlier, mortgage buyer Freddie Mac said Thursday, AP reported. The rate stood at 6.85% during the same period last year. The latest reading marks the lowest level for the benchmark mortgage rate in more than three years, since September 8, 2022, when it averaged 5.89%. That was also the last time borrowing costs dipped below the 6% threshold.“The recent decline in rates is a favorable lead in to the annual spring homebuying season — good news for home shoppers who can afford to buy at current rates.”Shorter-term borrowing costs also eased. The average rate on a 15-year fixed mortgage, widely used by homeowners refinancing existing loans, fell to 5.35% from 5.44% last week.
