As part of the prep, the actor is undergoing a major physical transformation. In a recent interview with Esquire India, Ahaan revealed that he underwent a major shoulder surgery after the release of Saiyaara — something he had chosen to keep private until now.

Ahaan Panday’s Cool Factor Hits New Heights On Instagram

‘It’s one of the most painful surgeries you can do’

Ahaan shared that the surgery stemmed from a snowmobile accident a few years ago that resulted in a shoulder subluxation. The injury hampered his ability to train properly, especially when he needed peak fitness for an action film.“I actually got a whole surgery done after the release of Saiyaara last year. And it’s one of the most painful surgeries you can do, with the longest recovery time,” he said.

‘My body would go back to zero’

The actor revealed that doctors had cautioned him about the physical toll the procedure would take.“He told me my body would ‘go back to zero’,” Ahaan said, explaining that he would have to rebuild everything from scratch — muscle, strength, mobility — at a time when he needed to look action-ready.Speaking about the challenge, he added, “I used to feel motivated by actors who had dramatic gym transformations. But that was usually from a certain unhealthy body type to a healthy one. This was different; I went from being injured, to not being able to move, to not being able to lift, to being able to lift.”

They were like, why is he losing so much weight,” he shared. Now back in training, Ahaan seems ready to convert his most painful setback into a powerful comeback.

Trump open to ‘boots on the ground’ in Iran – what does the military phrase mean?

Trump open to 'boots on the ground' in Iran - what does the military phrase mean?
US President Donald Trump. (AP photo)

US President Donald Trump has said he would not rule out ‘boots on the ground’ in Iran, if the situation demands it.In an interview with the New York Post on Monday, Trump said he was keeping all military options open following the launch of operations against Iran over the weekend.“I don’t have the yips with respect to boots on the ground — like every president says, ‘There will be no boots on the ground.’ I don’t say it,” Trump told the NY Post in one of several brief interviews since Saturday’s action. He added that ground troops would “probably” not be necessary, but stressed they could be used if required. “I say ‘probably don’t need them,’ [or] ‘if they were necessary,’” he said.

What does ‘boots on the ground’ mean?

“Boots on the ground” is a military expression referring to the deployment of combat troops physically present in a foreign country, rather than relying solely on airstrikes, drones, or naval forces. In simple terms, it means sending soldiers into active combat zones. Linguistically, the phrase is an example of synecdoche — a figure of speech in which a part (boots) represents the whole (soldiers). The phrase has previously been used by leaders such as Barack Obama and David Cameron, particularly during debates over military interventions in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria.During World War I, “boot” was sometimes used informally to mean a soldier, and military training became known as “boot camp.”A similar phrase, “Feet on the Ground,” appeared in a 1966 book by British counter-insurgency expert Sir Robert Grainger Ker Thompson about Malaya and Vietnam. However, the earliest confirmed use of the exact phrase “boots on the ground” dates to 1980, during the Iranian hostage crisis.

‘Dukhi mat ho bhai’: Rohit Sharma’s hug, four words that changed Sanju Samson’s World Cup – WATCH | Cricket News

'Dukhi mat ho bhai': Rohit Sharma's hug, four words that changed Sanju Samson's World Cup - WATCH

NEW DELHI: When Sanju Samson stood tall after his match-winning 97 against the West Indies, it was more than just a comeback knock — it was the fulfilment of a promise made at the very start of the T20 World Cup.Despite being India’s first-choice T20I opener for over a year, Samson found himself out of the playing XI for the tournament opener against the United States of America (USA) at the Wankhede Stadium. Ishan Kishan’s strong form meant Samson had to wait.

T20 World Cup: Gautam Gambhir on Sanju Samson, Jasprit Bumrah and record chase vs West Indies

What followed is now going viral.Ahead of that opening game, Rohit Sharma walked up to Samson, put an arm around him, and offered words that would define the rest of his tournament.“Kaisa hai? Dukhi mat ho bhai. It is a long tournament, kabhi bhi mauka aa sakta hai (“How are you? Don’t be disheartened. It is a long tournament. The opportunity can come at any moment),” Rohit had said to Samson, as revealed in a video posted by the official Instagram account of the International Cricket Council (ICC).At that moment, Samson was on the sidelines. But Rohit’s reassurance proved prophetic. After India’s defeat to South Africa opened the door for changes, Samson returned. He first made an impact with a fiery cameo against Zimbabwe before scripting something far bigger — an unbeaten 97 under pressure to anchor a daunting 196-run chase against the West Indies, sealing India’s highest-successful run chase in T20 World Cup history. His journey to that moment had been anything but smooth.Earlier in the season, being pushed down the order during the Asia Cup disrupted his rhythm. Then came a difficult New Zealand series where scores of 10, 6, 0, 24 and 6 led to criticism and doubts. But Samson never stopped observing, learning and believing. After his masterclass against the West Indies, he acknowledged the influence of Rohit and Virat Kohli.“Playing IPL for around 10 to 12 years and being with the Indian team for the last 10 years… I have not always been playing, but I was looking from the dugout, learning from greats like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. It was very important to observe, learn, and see what they were doing,” Samson said. From being dropped to delivering one of the most memorable knocks in India’s T20 World Cup campaign, Samson’s resurgence now carries the imprint of Rohit’s hug and those four simple words — “Dukhi mat ho bhai.”With a five-wicket win over the West Indies, India marched into the semifinals and will now face England at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday — the same ground where Samson had once watched from the sidelines, waiting for his moment.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star Eric Dane’s Loved Ones Issue Moving Message After Actor’s Death

Eric Dane’s demise: The official cause of death

Per People, the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star passed away from respiratory failure. Dane was suffering from Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), which has been listed as an underlying cause of death.According to Mayo Clinic, ALS, often called Lou Gehrig’s disease, attacks nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. It slowly paralyzes the muscles you need to walk, talk, swallow, and breathe. The symptoms usually include your hand feeling weak, or your speech changing and slurring a bit. At an advanced stage, the muscles weaken, and eventually, the patient can’t move, speak, or breathe without help. Treatments can slow it down, but they can’t stop it, as there’s no cure for ALS yet.ALS gradually weakens the muscles involved in movement and breathing, and in advanced stages can lead to the inability to maintain independent respiration. This means the lungs and breathing muscles can no longer function adequately, eventually leading to respiratory failure.Dane leaves behind his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, and their daughters, Billie Beatrice and Georgia Geraldine. Upon his passing, his family shared a statement: “With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS. He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.

Eric Dane: Life, career, and legacy

Born Eric William Melvin on November 9, 1972, in San Francisco, he grew up loving the stage. He lost his dad early, which hit him hard, but he turned that pain into drive. In the early ‘90s, he started landing TV roles on ‘Saved by the Bell’ and other shows. However, it was 2006 when his breakthrough finally came. Dane joined ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ as Dr. Mark Sloan (“McSteamy”), which became a sensation overnight. With his charm and sharp wit, he quickly became a fan favorite and pop culture icon. After leaving ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, Dane kept busy. He took on major roles in TV and film, including Cal Jacobs on ‘Euphoria’ and a lead part in ‘The Last Ship’. He never stuck to just one type of part, showing he could do way more than just play the heartthrob.Dane went public with his ALS diagnosis in April 2025, less than a year before he passed away. He revealed, “I have been diagnosed with ALS. I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter.” He also shared that he felt lucky to keep working and was looking forward to returning to ‘Euphoria’.Even in his last months, Dane talked openly about ALS and how it affected him, things like weakness in his right hand and the loss of use of some limbs. That didn’t stop him from acting when he could or from speaking out for ALS awareness and research. He used his voice to talk about ALS, push for more research, and remind people that these stories matter.

PM Modi, Carney Usher Reset In India-Canada Ties, Declare Landmark Uranium, Critical Minerals Deal

NEW DELHI: The dramatic turnaround in India-Canada relations in the past 10 months culminated in a series of major announcements and agreements, including a landmark $2.6 billion deal for supply of 22 million pounds of uranium to India from 2027 to 2035, as PM Narendra Modi hosted his counterpart Mark Carney for talks. The leaders committed to conclusion of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) by the end of this year, as both sides finalised the terms of reference, and announced agreements to intensify cooperation on critical minerals while also launching a new strategic energy partnership and defence dialogue.

-

Both sides discussed each other’s security concerns – activities of separatists in India’s case and transnational repression for Canada – but the leaders avoided any explicit mention of these issues in their media remarks as they endorsed in the meeting ongoing security cooperation and focused on consolidating the normalisation of the relationship.Modi gave credit to Carney for the increasing momentum in all areas of cooperation. The Canadian PM responded by saying that this wasn’t just a renewal of the relationship but also an expansion of the partnership as India and Canada were transforming their economies to be more diversified, more independent, and more resilient in a rapidly changing world.

PM Modi, Carney Usher Reset In India-Canada Ties, Declare Landmark Uranium, Critical Minerals Deal

However, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) later strongly rejected allegations of involvement in transnational violence or organized crime as reported in the Canadian media, saying these claims were baseless, politically motivated, and “unsupported by credible evidence despite repeated requests”.“India believes that concerns of this nature must be addressed through credible law enforcement and judicial processes, not through public or politicized narratives,” said MEA secretary (east) P Kumaran. The official was responding to questions related to reports in the Canadian media linking Indian officials in Vancouver to the killing of Sikh separatist Hardeep Nijjar and a Canadian readout of the Modi-Carney meeting that said Canada will continue to take measures to combat transnational repression. According to the Canadian readout, the leaders agreed to advance bilateral cooperation on security and law enforcement, including issues of mutual concern to Canada and India.

-

Modi said that the forward movement in ties was being powered by both sides’ unbreakable trust in democratic values, diversity and humanity and the goal was to reach $ 50 billion in annual trade by 2030. The Canadian side said CEPA could see $ 70 billion trade in the next 5 years. While 8 agreements/ MoUs were signed at the government level, there were 24 other agreements or partnerships that were announced among among universities and institutions in areas such as AI, healthcare, agriculture, and innovation. An MoU was also signed under the Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation Partnership for development and deployment of AI.“It is our priority to unlock the full potential of economic cooperation. Therefore, we have decided to finalize the CEPA as soon as possible. This will create new opportunities for investment and employment in both countries,” said Modi, calling India and Canada natural partners in technology and innovation.“With Canada and India as innovation partners, we will turn ideas into global solutions,” said Modi, adding that the MoU on critical minerals will also strengthen supply chain resilience. While Carney didn’t touch upon the issue of terrorism in his remarks, Modi said that they agreed terrorism, extremism and radicalisation were shared and serious challenges not only for both countries, but for all of humanity. “Our close cooperation against them is crucial for global peace and stability,” said Modi.A joint statement said that as pluralistic democracies, they agreed to deepen collaboration to address issues relating to violent extremism, terrorism, organized crime, including the illegal flow of narcotics and fentanyl precursors, cybercrime, extortion, financial fraud, trafficking and related criminal networks. The Indian PM also said that the growing cooperation in the field of defence and security symbolised “the maturity of our deep mutual trust and ties”.“We will work to expand defence industries, maritime domain awareness, and military exchanges. For this purpose, today we have decided to establish the India-Canada Defence Dialogue,” he said, as both leaders welcomed a new Maritime Security Partnership in areas such as defence material Cooperation and supply chain resilience, as also appointment of defence attache by both sides.“Our strategic partnership, and the speed at which we are working to unleash its potential in energy, talent, and AI, is the result of two confident, ambitious nations who want to build the future, together,’ said Carney, who also invited Modi to visit Canada.According to Canada, to leverage their strengths as complementary economies, Canada and India announced a new Strategic Energy Partnership, including in LNG, LPG, uranium, solar, and hydrogen. The leaders backed efforts to conclude India’s first long-term LPG supply arrangement with Canada.According to the joint statement, the leaders underscored that closer cooperation between India and Canada will help reinforce international rules and norms that are applied fairly, strengthen economic resilience, promote sustainable development, and address other global challenges.

Ill-fitting jerseys disrupt India focus ahead of women’s Asian Cup | Goa News

Despite the disappointment, players said they “remain fully committed to representing our country with pride and giving our best performance”

Panaji: The Indian women’s football team in Australia for the all-important AFC Asian Cup, was forced to hurriedly source playing kits locally after the set of jerseys sent by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) was manufactured for age-group teams, and “did not fit at least 80% of the 26-member squad. The Indian women will face Vietnam in Perth on Wednesday.According to sources, the consignment from Delhi was initially delayed due to permissions, prompting the team to buy time from the organisers for the official equipment check and photoshoot. Two days before the crucial opener however, when the cargo finally landed at the team hotel, players found that the jerseys were of small sizes and did not fit a majority of the players. The alarmed players like seniors Sweety Devi, Manisha Kalyan, Grace Dangmei, Sangita Basfore, Pathoi Chanu, Sanju, Pyari Xaxa and Shreya Hooda wrote an official letter to the AIFF, seeking immediate intervention.“Over the past days, players and staff have already faced challenges due to the lack of appropriate clothing during preparation,” the players said in a signed letter to the AIFF, “The arrival of incorrect match kits at this crucial stage has further affected morale and disrupted our focus in the final days leading up to the match. Representing India on the international stage requires professional standards, including properly fitted and appropriate match and training apparel. The AIFF said it has now sourced the kits locally with 55 jerseys, or two different sets – light blue and red — being procured from an Italian company that had stock in Perth.“We were told there is a problem with the jerseys since they were not fitting properly and we addressed the issue,” said a senior AIFF official, adding that the national team does not have a kit partner. “The kit will be available a day before the game (with names and numbers). We have made immediate provision of correct-sized match and training kits for all players and coaching staff.”Despite the disappointment, players said they “remain fully committed to representing our country with pride and giving our best performance.”India have made it to the AFC Women’s Asian Cup on sporting merit for the first time since 2003 and have a shot at qualification for next year’s World Cup in Brazil. PCB cracks whip after Pakistan miss semi-finals spot in 2026 T20 World Cup

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) takes a massive step against all the players who were in the T20 World Cup 2026 squad. According to fresh reports, the PCB has sanctioned a huge fine for all of their players in the squad. The update came on the evening of Monday (March 2).

According to ESPNcricinfo, “All of Pakistan’s squad members from the T20 World Cup have been fined PKR 5 million (approx US$ 18,000) by the PCB following an underwhelming campaign in which they missed out on the semi-finals.” Its update came as a major shock as it is a rare kind of decision taken by any cricket governing body across the globe.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued penalties to the players

The Salman Ali Agha-led team was knocked out of the tournament from the Super 8 stage, even after getting a win under a do-or-die situation against Sri Lanka. From Group 2, it was England and New Zealand, who confirmed their spots in the Semi-finals of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026.

Mohsin Naqvi-led PCB is unhappy over the team

Even before their clash against Sri Lanka, it was revealed that PCB, headed by chairman Mohsin Naqvi, was not happy at all with the team’s performance in the prestigious tournament. It was reported earlier that the board can consider a major reformation to get the team on the right track. Though, the decision to issue penalties for all of the squad members comes without any early prediction.

It is believed that the board is all set to remove Salman Ali Agha from the captaincy job. Steps are supposed to be taken against some of the players as well including Babar Azam. If Agha loses his position in the team, then who will be the new leader of Pakistan’s T20I squad?

There are several names that are surfacing around as the possible replacements for Captain Agha. Shaheen Afridi and Sadab Khan are among the rumoured names who can become the new skipper of the team. It was also learnt that, Mohsin Naqvi will hold a candid discussion with head coach Mike Hesson regarding the matter.

The captain himself was not happy with the performance

Captain Salman Agha openly admitted that the team did not play to its full potential. He claimed that the middle order did not provide enough support for the top order. From the top order, Sahibzada Farhan was exceptional for the team. Fakhar Zaman, who played against Sri Lanka, also played on a good note. Though, in most of the matches of the T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, the team management left him on the bench.

Against Sri Lanka, in their last match of the Super 8, Pakistan secured a good total of 212, which was good, and they won the match as well. But they needed to claim the contest by a big margin, which they couldn’t. It was the bowling unit’s job to restrict Sri Lanka below the 147-run. In the end, the Men in Green won the match by only 5 runs.
