A fire broke out at an industrial complex in southern Israel on Sunday, with the Israeli military saying the damage was likely caused by missile shrapnel following a fresh barrage launched from Iran.According to the military, the impact occurred in the Neot Hovav industrial zone in the Negev desert, sending thick plumes of black smoke into the sky. Authorities said the blaze may have been triggered either by a direct munition strike or debris from an intercepted missile.Police confirmed that emergency teams were combing the area for additional fragments while working to eliminate any further risk to the public.Later in the day, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for striking an industrial facility in southern Israel with missiles.Visuals from the site showed a heavily damaged warehouse engulfed in smoke as firefighters battled the flames. Fire brigade commander Eyal Caspi said the situation was under control and expected to be fully contained within hours.Local authorities declared the incident hazardous, instructing workers in the area to remain in protected zones. Residents nearby were also advised to stay indoors over fears of potential toxic leaks.Soroka Hospital in Beersheba reported treating six people with minor injuries following the incident.The Israeli military said at least seven missiles had been launched from Iran toward Israeli territory since midnight, with air defence systems activated to intercept the threats.Located about 12 kilometres from Beersheba, the Neot Hovav industrial zone houses more than 40 factories focused on environmental technology and industrial infrastructure.This marks the second reported strike on an industrial facility in Israel since hostilities escalated on February 28, when joint US-Israeli strikes targeted Iran. Tehran has since responded with repeated waves of missiles and drones aimed at Israel and other locations across the region.

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police special cell has arrested Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Shabbir Ahmed Lone from near Bangladesh border, sources said. Lone was running a Lashkar cell from his hideout near Dhaka. The operation, monitored closely by police commissioner Satish Golcha, was the result of a cat-and-mouse chase of two months. A special team led by additional CP Pramod Kushwaha, ACP Lalit Negi and inspector Sunil Rajain had been tracking Lone after his role emerged in recruitment of youths for terrorist activities in Delhi, Kolkata and Tamil Nadu. Lone was earlier arrested by Delhi Police on terror charges in 2007. He fled to Bangladesh after getting bail in 2019 and had become a headache for the security agencies and Delhi’s ATS after it emerged that he had set up a terror cell in that country.

However, he is not the only terror kingpin with Delhi links who the agencies are after. Besides Lone, the agencies are now aggressively trying to locate Sheikh Sajjad Gul who was arrested from Nizamuddin station in Delhi in 2002 and was lodged in Tihar for over a decade after being convicted in 2003. He was sentenced to 10 years before being released in 2017. Gul also fled to Pakistan around the same time and is now at the helm of Lashkar’s new face, The Resistance Front (TRF), which has been behind several terror strikes including the Pahalgam attack.

As global energy supplies come under strain due to the ongoing Middle East conflict, the Centre has introduced a temporary measure to ease pressure on cooking fuel availability in the country. Under the 60-day emergency plan, announced on Monday, states and Union Territories will receive additional kerosene for essential household use, including cooking and lighting.The decision also signals a short-term reintroduction of kerosene in 21 regions where it had previously been phased out or classified as PDS SKO-free. This step is intended to ensure that households facing shortages of LPG continue to have access to a basic source of energy.

To facilitate this, the ministry of petroleum and natural gas has authorised selected fuel stations in kerosene-free regions to store and distribute Superior Kerosene Oil for household consumption. According to the notification, up to two fuel stations in each district, preferably company-owned outlets run by public sector oil firms, will be allowed to stock up to five thousand litres of kerosene.In order to speed up the process, certain licensing requirements for dealers and transporters have been relaxed, although safety and monitoring standards will continue to be enforced. The ministry has clarified that this provision is strictly for kerosene meant for household cooking and lighting.This move comes after the government sanctioned an additional 48,000 kilolitres of kerosene over and above regular allocations for all States and Union Territories. Local administrations have been asked to identify district-level distribution points. Earlier, 17 States and Union Territories received SKO allocation orders, while Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh maintained that they do not require any such allocation. These include regions like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Rajasthan.At the same time, enforcement efforts have been stepped up to curb irregularities in the energy supply chain. Authorities have carried out nearly 2,900 raids in recent days, seizing close to 1,000 cylinders as part of action against hoarding and black marketing. States have also been instructed to intensify monitoring, conduct daily briefings, counter misinformation, and speed up approvals for gas-related infrastructure. “The government reiterates its advice to the public not to believe rumours,” the statement said.Amid these developments, a section of consumers has begun shifting away from LPG. As of Saturday, 6,000 piped natural gas (PNG) users had surrendered their LPG connections. “6000 PNG consumers surrendered their LPG till yesterday! A big thanks to them!!” said the secretary, ministry of petroleum and natural gas Neeraj Mittal on X.In terms of supply management, the government has prioritised domestic and transport needs, ensuring full allocation for PNG and CNG segments. Industrial and commercial users are currently receiving around 80% of their average consumption, while fertiliser plants are operating at 70–75% capacity. Additional LNG cargoes are also being arranged, as part of efforts to secure fuel and gas supplies, according to a government statement reported by PTI.

Brent crude has again shot up to $116. The Goldilocks macro scenario which India had before the war has almost disappeared thanks to the war. Instead of high GDP growth, low inflation, moderate fiscal and current account deficits and expectations of higher corporate earnings growth in FY27, now we face prospects of lower GDP growth, higher inflation, higher fiscal and current account deficits and lower earnings growth for FY27.”The market has largely discounted these negatives as reflected in the decline in the Nifty trailing PE ratio to about 19.9 times. MUMBAI: Nearly 10 months after a Parents and Senior Citizens’ Tribunal directed a man to vacate his 70-year-old father’s suburban apartment that he had been forcibly occupying for years, police, in the presence of an officer from the tehsildar’s office, evicted him recently.The tribunal’s order had come in May 2025, but the son continued to occupy his father’s property even thereafter. Police then wrote back to the tribunal which appointed an officer from the Borivli tehsildar’s office to oversee the process of vacating the flat. In Dec 2024, the septuagenarian had approached the tribunal. He stated that his elder son, who had moved in with him about a decade ago, harassed and threatened him. After lodging a non-cognisable complaint with the police, his son moved out. The senior citizen decided to rent out his apartment so he could raise money to fund his medical expenses. But his son threatened the tenant and eventually took forcible possession of the property in 2023 after the tenant left.In his submission before the tribunal, the son said he had never stopped his father from entering the house andthat he was within his rights to live there as it was his childhood home. He made counter-allegations of harassment against his father. The father-son had lodged multiple non-cognisable complaints against each other over the past decade and a civil suit is also on.After examining documents and submissions from both parties, the tribunal observed that the apartment was legally owned by the senior citizen and his son should vacate it within one month. The son was also given instructions to not do anything to the detriment of his father’s physical and mental health and pay him a monthlymaintenance of Rs 5,000. The tribunal further ruled that if the son did not comply with the instructions, his father could go to police, who were instructed to provide help to the senior citizen under the Maharashtra Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Rules, 2010.Police served a copy of the tribunal’s order on the son. In an email to the police station in Nov 2025, the son said he had approached Bombay high court which had directed him to approach Dindoshi sessions court.
