Trump shares video of massive explosions in Iran's Isfahan following US-Israeli strikes; bunker-busters used?

US President Donald Trump early Tuesday escalated his rhetoric and messaging around America’s military campaign against Iran, highlighting the scale of strikes carried out under Operation Epic Fury reportedly by B2 bunker busters. He shared a social media post showing Iran’s Isfahan site engulfed in flames.Earlier, Trump had warned that Iran’s energy infrastructure could be “obliterated” if a deal was not reached soon. The post, shared on Truth Social without a caption, showed massive explosions lighting up the night sky over Isfahan, a city of around 2.3 million people and home to the Badr military airbase.According to a US official cited by The Wall Street Journal, American forces struck a large ammunition depot in Isfahan using 2,000-pound bunker-buster bombs. A significant number of penetrator munitions were reportedly used in the operation.Isfahan is also known to house enriched uranium linked to Iran’s nuclear programme. The city had previously been targeted during a US strike last year in summer under Operation Midnight Hammer, which focused on its nuclear facilities.

What are B2 Bombers?

B-2 bombers are capable of carrying the GBU-57 bunker-buster, a weapon designed to penetrate deep underground before exploding. It was developed specifically to destroy hardened nuclear facilities and deeply buried command centres. The B-2 is among the most advanced aircraft ever built. Its flying-wing design and specialised materials significantly reduce its radar signature, allowing it to evade detection and operate in heavily defended airspace. This makes it particularly suited for striking fortified underground targets. Notably, it remains the only aircraft capable of deploying the GBU-57.

During Operation Midnight Hammer last June, seven B-2 bombers reportedly dropped fourteen of these bombs on Iranian nuclear sites at Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan. The operation marked the first known combat use of the weapon, showcasing the United States’ ability to target and destroy deeply buried and reinforced infrastructure.

PBKS vs GT, IPL 2026, Match Prediction: Who will win today’s game between Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans?

The stage is set at the brand-new Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur as the Punjab Kings (PBKS) host the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the fourth match of IPL 2026.

Both teams enter the season with significant points to prove. Shreyas Iyer’s Punjab Kings are looking for redemption after a heartbreaking 6-run loss in the 2025 final, while Shubman Gill’s Titans aim to reclaim the consistency that defined their early years in the league.

Iyer leads a settled unit. The absence of Lockie Ferguson (delayed arrival due to personal reasons) means Xavier Bartlett or Marco Jansen will likely lead the international pace quota. Whereas, the Titans have bolstered their squad with Mohammed Siraj and veteran Jason Holder. The opening pair of Gill and Sai Sudharsan (2025 Orange Cap winner) remains the most dangerous in the league.

Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium Pitch report

The Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur continues to be a balanced surface that offers a fascinating contest between bat and ball. Known for its sand-based outfield and herringbone drainage, the pitch provides consistent bounce and carries well for the pacers, particularly in the Powerplay. As the game progresses, the surface tends to slow down slightly, allowing spinners to extract grip and turn. With a par score typically ranging between 180 and 200, and dew expected to impact the second innings, the captain winning the toss will likely elect to bowl first.

‘Fabricated’: Pentagon rejects report that Pete Hegseth attempted defence investments before US-Israel attacked Iran

'Fabricated': Pentagon rejects report that Pete Hegseth attempted defence investments before US-Israel attacked Iran

US war secretary Pete Hegseth’s assistant Sean Parnell on Tuesday dismissed the report claiming that his broker explored options to invest in defence-linked assets shortly before the US-Israeli military action against Iran. He demanded “immediate retraction” of the report.“This allegation is entirely false and fabricated. Neither Secretary Hegseth nor any of his representatives approached BlackRock about any such investment. This is yet another baseless, dishonest smear designed to mislead the public,” he said.“We demand an immediate retraction. Secretary Hegseth and the Department of War remain unwavering in their commitment to the highest standards of ethics and strict adherence to all applicable laws and regulations,” he added. The report published in Financial Times had said that a broker linked to Morgan Stanley contacted BlackRock in February about investing a multimillion-dollar amount in a defence-focused exchange-traded fund, just weeks before the US joined Israel in carrying out strikes on Tehran. The investment never went through because the fund, launched last year, was not yet accessible on Morgan Stanley’s platform. The report did not specify the broker’s level of independent authority or whether Hegseth knew about the proposed move. BlackRock declined to comment, while Morgan Stanley and the United States Department of Defense did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

NEW DELHI: It was the first match of IPL 2026 for Rajasthan Royals, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made it special by helping his team register a thumping win over five-time champions Chennai Super Kings on Monday. The 15-year-old batting sensation produced a breathtaking powerplay masterclass, smashing 52 off just 17 balls to set up an emphatic eight-wicket victory as the 2008 IPL champions kicked off their campaign in style.Sooryavanshi, who turned 15 on March 27, revealed after the match that he chose to go to bed early to stay fresh for the big clash against CSK, skipping the cake-cutting celebrations with the team.“I did not really do anything outside – there was supposed to be a cake cutting, but I went to sleep early to avoid the cake-smearing (on how he celebrated his birthday),” said Sooryavanshi after the match.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi focused only on team’s wins

After the bowlers restricted CSK to a modest 127, Sooryavanshi took centre stage and blasted 52 off just 17 balls, including four fours and five sixes, at a staggering strike rate of 305.88. Rajasthan Royals chased down the target with 47 balls to spare.“The plan was simply to execute well in the powerplay – initially the wicket felt a bit sticky, but as the ball got older, it started coming onto the bat nicely (on his batting approach). I do think about defence, but today our plan was to control the game in the powerplay because in a small chase, that phase is crucial – if the bowling team does well there, the game can tilt their way, but our powerplay went really well (on his aggressive intent),” he said.“The coaches did not specifically say that bowlers would attack me – everyone else was already saying that – but they just told me that they back me and that I should stick to my natural game and play according to the situation. My opening partner (Yashasvi Jaiswal) keeps communicating with me after every ball – he tells me when to take singles, keeps giving me the strike, and encourages me to keep playing my shots if the ball is coming nicely onto the bat,” the youngster said. After a strong start to the tournament, Rajasthan Royals will now face Gujarat Titans on April 4 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.CSK will aim for a comeback when they take on Punjab Kings on April 3 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Oil prices today: Crude jumps after war disrupts supply routes, global shortage fear looms

Oil prices surged sharply on Tuesday, with Brent crude climbing above the $110 per barrel mark and US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude trading above $100, as supply concerns intensified amid the widening conflict in the Middle East.Brent crude rose $2.26, or about 2 per cent, to $115.04 a barrel in early trade, after hitting their highest level since March 19 in the previous session.US WTI crude gained $3.10, or around 3 per cent to $105.96 a barrel, marking its highest level since March 9.Oil prices have surged sharply this month, with Brent rising nearly 59 per cent in March, while WTI has jumped about 58 per cent, the most since May 2020, according to Reuters. The surge has been driven largely by disruptions linked to Iran’s effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic narrow waterway that handles roughly one-fifth of global oil supply and a significant volume of liquefied natural gas shipments.Tensions escalated further after Kuwait Petroleum Corp said its fully loaded crude tanker, Al Salmi, capable of carrying up to 2 million barrels was struck in an Iranian attack at Dubai port. Authorities have also warned of potential oil spills in the region, further escalating concerns over supply disruptions.Adding to the volatility, Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi forces launched missile strikes targeting Israel over the weekend, raising fears of renewed disruption at the Bab el-Mandeb strait. It is another key maritime route linking the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden and is vital for global trade between Asia and Europe.Analysts warn that simultaneous disruptions at both the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb could severely impact global energy flows. “If the Houthis successfully resume a blockade of the Bab al-Mandab Strait, both of the world’s most critical energy arteries would be under simultaneous pressure. This ‘twin chokepoint’ crisis is a nightmare scenario for global supply chains,” said Tim Waterer, chief market analyst at KCM Trade. In response to the risks, Saudi Arabia has rerouted a significant portion of its crude exports through the Red Sea. Data from Kpler showed shipments to the Red Sea port of Yanbu surged to 4.658 million barrels per day last week, up sharply from an average of 770,000 barrels per day in January and February.Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump warned that Washington could target Iran’s energy infrastructure if Tehran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Iran, however, has dismissed US peace proposals as unrealistic, even as the White House said talks between the two sides were continuing.Market participants remain wary, with analysts observing that there is little clarity on a potential resolution.“The markets do not see any offramp for the conflict as the two sides are very wide apart in terms of their demands despite the rosy picture that President Trump is painting,” said Edward Meir, an analyst at Marex.

Iran strikes fully loaded Kuwaiti oil tanker at Dubai port; spill risk flagged

Iran struck a fully loaded crude oil tanker anchored off Dubai’s port on Monday, setting it on fire and damaging its hull, Kuwait’s state news agency reported, citing Kuwait Petroleum Corp. The company also warned of a possible oil spill. The incident appears to be the latest in a series of attacks on commercial shipping in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, involving missiles and explosive aerial and maritime drones, following US and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28.“The Kuwaiti giant crude oil tanker was subjected to a direct and malicious Iranian attack while in the anchorage area of Dubai Port in the UAE,” news agency KUNA reported, citing Kuwait’s state-owned oil company.Dubai authorities said they were dealing with a drone strike targeting the oil tanker in local waters, with maritime firefighting crews working to contain the blaze. No casualties have been reported, and all 24 crew members are safe, officials said, according to Reuters.Iran has made no comments on the strike yet.Two unidentified projectiles landed in the water near the container ship about 22 nautical miles (40.7 km) northeast of Ras Tanura at 1352 GMT, Reuters reported citing a representative of the Liberia-flagged Express Rome. The incidents occurred roughly an hour apart, and all crew members were safe, according to British maritime risk-management firm Vanguard.Vanguard added that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had previously claimed responsibility for an attack on the Express Rome on March 11.

Industrial output grows 5.2 per cent as manufacturing rebounds

NEW DELHI : The country’s industrial output growth accelerated in Feb, led by a recovery in the manufacturing sector, but the West Asia conflict is expected to weigh heavily on the crucial sector in the months ahead.Data released by the National Statistics Office (NSO) on Monday showed the index of industrial production rose 5.2 per cent in Feb, a tad higher than the upwardly revised 5.1% in Jan. The manufacturing sector rose 6 per cent in Feb, higher than 2.8 per cent in Feb last year and above the 5.3 per cent in Jan.Within the manufacturing sector, 14 out of 23 industry groups grew in Feb compared to the same month a year earlier. The top three positive contributors in Feb were — manufacture of basic metals (13.2 per cent), manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semitrailers (14.9 per cent) and manufacture of machinery and equipment (10.2 per cent), according to the statistics office. The electricity and mining sectors remained sluggish, rising 2.3 per cent and 3.1 per cent respectively.Experts expect the West Asia conflict to hurt factory sector expansion. Aditi Nayar, chief economist, ICRA, said the agency expects IIP growth to decelerate to 3 per cent-4 per cent in March, amid the unfolding adverse impact of the West Asia crisis on some manufacturing segments, both through the price and availability channels, and weaker electricity performance in the month.
