Ishan Kishan reveals SRH’s formula to score 300 runs in IPL 2026

In the absence of Pat Cummins, Ishan Kishan will lead Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) season. During the event, where the key players of the teams were on the stage, the temporary skipper made some hilarious comments, which resulted in a wave of smiles among the players and the fans who attended the event.

Like the previous season. SRH will play the IPL 2026 with a star-studded batting line-up. Ishan Kishan, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Heinrich Klaasen are among the key batters who will be in charge of claiming most of the runs on the scoreboard.

What did Ishan Kishan say at the event?

During the event, the stand-in captain of SRH jokingly said that he and Abhishek Sharma would happily settle for 70 each. But he would like to see most of the runs scored by the two overseas batting stars, Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen.

“The day we score 300 runs, the most important batters are Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen. Abhishek and I will be happily settled for 70s,” Ishan Kishan said, in a friendly gesture, and the crowd enjoyed the moment thoroughly.

SRH formed a batting powerhouse for the IPL 2026 campaign

SRH has a packed batting department with multiple power hitters. Apart from these 4 batters, the squad contains Smaran Ravichandran, Kamindu Mendis, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Liam Livingstone, Jack Edwards, and multiple other domestic talents who have proved their batting skills in the past.

Despite an underwhelming campaign, the franchise protected most of its key talents for the 2026 season. In the IPL 2025 points table, SRH ended sixth in the 10-team league. With three back-to-back wins in the last round of the group stage, they secured 6 wins in 14 matches.

More than their batting firepower, cricket experts like Aakash Chopra are worried about their bowling front, as they will have to play the initial few matches without the service of their prime pacer Pat Cummins. Another overseas pacer, Sri Lanka’s Eshan Malinga also yet to confirm his participation in the league.

“This year, Sunrisers Hyderabad probably won’t be able to do much in the IPL again. I don’t think they will qualify for the top four. Sunrisers Hyderabad have a very strong batting lineup, but their bowling lineup is not that strong,” Aakash Chopra strongly predicted in his YouTube video.

SRH will have to face RCB in the opening match of the tournament

Sunrisers Hyderabad will start their IPL 2026 campaign on March 28, for the opening match of the edition. In the highly anticipated clash, SRH will be up against the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). To start the season on a positive note, both of the teams will try their best to claim the match to keep their morale high.

Expectations will be high around Ishan Kishan as he has guided the Jharkhand Cricket team to claim their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy before winning the 2026 T20 World Cup with team India, defeating New Zealand in the Final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Back in Ladakh to rousing reception, Wangchuk calls for ‘give and take’ solution | India News

Back in Ladakh to rousing reception, Wangchuk calls for ‘give and take’ solution

SRINAGAR: As hundreds of people gathered in Leh to welcome environmental activist and Leh Apex Body (LAB) member Sonam Wangchuk after his release from jail, he struck a conciliatory tone on Sunday, urging the Union govt to ensure that forthcoming talks with Ladakhi leaders are based on a “win-win” approach for both Ladakh and the Centre. While he emphasised on a “give and take” formula without mentioning the Sixth Schedule or statehood in his address to the gathering, at the same time, Wangchuk said he would continue his struggle, if needed. The reception was organised by LAB, which along with Kargil Democratic Alliance, is seeking statehood and a Sixth Schedule for the UT of Ladakh.“My fight was for Ladakh’s people, its culture, environment, for its rivers, flora and fauna, and glaciers. Their success is my success,” Wangchuk said, as people carried banners reading ‘Justice for Ladakh’, ‘Withdraw Sept 24 cases’, and ‘Ladakh will not forget its fallen heroes’, along with portraits of four people killed in the police firing in Leh on Sept 24 last year.Describing the movement as a “new dawn”, he said it was entering a “new phase”, but he called for “flexible steps”. He said he had been told the govt had acknowledged the Sept 24 firing as a mistake and was seeking to rectify it. He hoped that justice would be delivered in the case and those arrested would also be released.Wangchuk was arrested on Sept 26, 2025 under NSA and lodged in Jodhpur jail. Last week, MHA revoked his detention stating the govt remains committed to providing all necessary safeguards for Ladakh and hoped that the issues concerning the region will be resolved through “constructive engagement and dialogue”.The last round of talks took place on Feb 4, but remained inconclusive. Ladakhi leaders have sought another round of talks soon.Wangchuk said Ladakhi leaders will go for talks with hope that there is a win-win outcome, not otherwise, as is being rumoured in the region. Holding his cards close to his chest, Wangchuk said after forthcoming talks, Ladakhi leaders would again reach out to people across the country and convey whether the talks resulted in a “win-win or a lose-lose outcome”.

Fire breakout at 3-storeyed commercial building in Turbhe, no casualty | Mumbai News

NAVI MUMBAI: A major fire broke out in a G+3 storeyed commercial building located in the bylane of sector 23, Turbhe near the flyover opposite to NMMT bus depot on Sunday evening. Three shops including a hardware store, an electronic shop and ceramic shop were gutted in the fire, informed Rohan Kokate, fire officer of Vashi fire station.Kokate said, “The fire had spread to an apartment in the corner of an adjacent building, where a family resided, but they immediately evacuated.”Purushottam Jadhav, Vashi Divisional Fire Officer said, “Vashi fire station had received the emergency fire call at 5.33 pm. The fire fighting rescue team with five fire engines immediately rushed to the building. Prima facie, the fire broke out in the electronic store on the first floor probably due to a short-circuit in the airconditioner unit. The fire spread to the adjacent hardware store and the ceramic shop. Fortunately, there was no casualty as the employees at the shops had immediately evacuated to safety before the fire raged. While the fire fighting operation was being carried out, the fire fighters reached the upper floor using ladder and conducted a search to ensure that no person was trapped.”Jadhav said, “The fire even partially gutted a closed shop on the ground floor. As the fire was raging, probably due to the paint thinner stocked for sale at the hardware store becoming fodder for the fire, to prevent the fire from spreading to the adjacent residential-cum-commercial buildings, more fire engines and water tankers were summoned from other fire stations. As many as 10 fire engines from Koparkhairane, Airoli, Nerul, CBD-Belapur and Vashi along with eight water tankers were pressed into service for the fire fighting operation. It took around two hours to completely extinguish the fire around 7.30pm, which was followed by cooling operation by continuously spraying water jet.”

Iran war not to end soon? Treasury’s Bessent says US has ‘plenty of money to fund this war’

Iran war not to end soon? Treasury's Bessent says US has 'plenty of money to fund this war'

US treasury secretary Scott Bessent on Sunday said the United States has “plenty of money to fund” its war against Iran, asserting that President Donald Trump is keeping “all options on the table” amid the ongoing Middle East conflict.Speaking to NBC News, Bessent defended the administration’s actions, saying Trump acted within his legal authority. “President Trump was within his authority under the War Powers Act to initiate this action, and we actually now have plenty of money to fund this war. What we are doing is supplemental,” he said.“President Trump has built up the military as he did in his first term, as he is now doing in his second term, and he wants to make sure that the military is well supplied going forward,” he added.Earlier, Trump indicated that his administration may seek around $200 billion in additional Pentagon funding amid the war, calling it a “small price to pay” to maintain US military readiness. Speaking from the Oval Office, he said the funds would help ensure military superiority and denied any shortages of weapons.“We’re asking for a lot of reasons, beyond even what we’re talking about in Iran…Munitions in particular – at the high end, we have a lot, but we’re preserving it,” Trump had said.US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth also confirmed that the Pentagon plans to request additional funding from Congress to support ongoing operations and replenish stockpiles. “As far as USD 200 billion, I think that number could move, obviously. It takes money to kill bad guys,” Hegseth said, referring to operations under “Operation Epic Fury” against Tehran.Bessent stressed that the administration would maintain strategic ambiguity. “He is not going to give away what we are going to do. As President Trump always does, he is leaving all options on the table,” he added. The remarks come amid an escalating conflict that began on February 28 following joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran, triggering retaliatory attacks by Tehran on Israel and US-linked targets across the region, disrupting key shipping routes and impacting global energy markets.

IPL 2026: Ishan Kishan gets animated send-off as things heat up in SRH camp | Cricket News

Ishan Kishan and Zeeshan Ansari (X)

Stand-in Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Ishan Kishan found himself at the centre of a fiery on-field moment during a practice game on Saturday, when teammate Zeeshan Ansari gave him an animated send-off after dismissing him.The incident unfolded in the eighth over of the second innings. Kishan, who looked in sublime touch early on, took the attack to the 26-year-old leg-spinner, smashing two sixes and two boundaries off the first four deliveries. However, Ansari had the final say. He deceived the wicketkeeper-batter with a full ball, leading to a mistimed shot that was safely caught at deep square leg. What followed was a charged reaction from the bowler, who gestured Kishan to head back to the pavilion. The SRH skipper, though, chose to take it sportingly and responded with a smile, diffusing the tension.

The moment comes at a time when Kishan has been handed leadership responsibilities for the early phase of the Indian Premier League 2026 season. The franchise named him interim captain, with Abhishek Sharma serving as his deputy, as regular skipper Pat Cummins continues his recovery from a lower back stress injury.Cummins’ injury had already ruled him out of a significant portion of the recent The Ashes in Australia and also sidelined him during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. While confirming the leadership change, SRH stated that Cummins would miss a few matches but did not clarify the exact duration of his absence.Kishan steps into the role on the back of an outstanding run in the T20 World Cup, where he played a pivotal part in India’s title-winning campaign. The left-hander finished as the fourth-highest run-scorer with 317 runs from nine matches, striking at 193 and averaging 35.22, including three half-centuries.His performances also propelled him to No.2 in the ICC rankings for T20I batters, a chart currently topped by his SRH teammate Abhishek Sharma. Earlier in the domestic season, Kishan had also led Jharkhand to their maiden title in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, further underlining his growing credentials as a leader.
