The court allowed the relief upon furnishing a personal bond of Rs 50,000 along with two sureties of the like amount, subject to strict conditions.Imam had sought six weeks’ interim bail, stating that his younger brother, Muzzammil Imam, is scheduled to get married on March 25. His counsel submitted that as the elder sibling, he needed to assist with and participate in wedding ceremonies including Mehendi, Haldi, Nikah and the reception, scheduled between March 22 and March 28. The plea also cited his mother’s ill health, noting that the younger brother—her primary caregiver—would be occupied with the wedding arrangements. The prosecution opposed the plea, arguing that Imam’s presence was not essential for the marriage as preparations had already been made. It also pointed out that his regular bail pleas had earlier been rejected by the trial court, the Delhi high court and the Supreme Court, and raised concerns about possible tampering with evidence or influencing witnesses if he was released. After considering the submissions and verifying the wedding details, the court granted limited relief of 10 days instead of the six weeks sought.During the interim bail period, Imam has been directed not to contact any witness or any person connected with the case, to provide his mobile number to the investigating officer and keep it active, and to refrain from interacting with the media or using social media. He has also been instructed to meet only family members and remain either at his residence or at the venues of the wedding functions. The court further directed that he must surrender before the jail superintendent on the evening of March 30, and a compliance report is to be submitted thereafter.

Pentagon makes ‘detailed preparations’ for possible US ground deployment in Iran: Report

Pentagon makes 'detailed preparations' for possible US ground deployment in Iran: Report

The Pentagon has reportedly planned for a potential deployment of US ground forces into Iran. Multiple sources cited by CBS News claim that the federal department made detailed preparations for deploying ground forces.Senior military commanders have submitted specific requests to enable such an option, as Washington evaluates its next steps in the US-Israel-led conflict with Tehran. The CBS Sources said Trump has been considering whether to position ground troops in the region, though the conditions under which he might authorise their use remain unclear. However, speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump dismissed the idea of an imminent deployment, saying, “No, I’m not putting troops anywhere,” before adding, “If I were, I certainly wouldn’t tell you.”There is no official statement from US Central Command, White House or the Pentagon.White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt did however say that preparations were routine and did not indicate a decision had been made. “It’s the job of the Pentagon to make preparations in order to give the Commander in Chief maximum optionality, it does not mean the President has made a decision, and as the President said in the Oval Office yesterday, he is not planning to send ground troops anywhere at this time.”Military planners have also discussed contingencies for detaining Iranian soldiers and paramilitary fighters in the event of a ground operation, including potential locations for holding them, sources said.As part of broader preparations, the US is reportedly moving to deploy elements of the 82nd Airborne Division, alongside the Army’s Global Response Force and Marine Corps expeditionary units, to the Middle East. Thousands of Marines are already being repositioned, with three warships and about 2,200 personnel departing California earlier this week.

Premium Petrol Prices Hiked By Up To ₹2.35 Per Litre In India Amid West Asia Conflict

Industry sources said the move reflects volatility in international crude markets, where fears of supply disruption amid the West Asia conflict have pushed prices upward. India, which depends heavily on imported crude, is particularly vulnerable to such global shocks and domestic fuel pricing often comes under pressure when international oil benchmarks rise sharply. Ordinary petrol and diesel prices in India are unlikely to rise despite ongoing global tensions and volatility in crude markets, said a govt source, adding that the country has sufficient fuel stocks and supply buffers to meet domestic demand.A senior MGL official said piped gas for domestic and CNG supplies is 100% and cut in the supply to commercial establishments, like hotels, continue. The domestic supply of LPG is also 100% while commercial LPG cylinders are being distributed on priority to essentials, said an official from an oil marketing company.Sources from the industry said while consumers using regular fuel have been spared for now, the rise in premium petrol rates has renewed concerns over inflation, transport costs and the wider economic impact of prolonged instability in global energy markets.

Call for direct civilian flights from Kargil | India News

Call for direct civilian flights from Kargil

SRINAGAR: Kargil local authorities have urged the Centre to start civilian flights, saying connectivity remains severely affected in winter when surface routes close.Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council -Kargil (LAHDC) chief executive councillor (CEC) Mohd Jaffar Akhoon and Ladakh MP Mohmad Haneefa raised the demand in a meeting with Union home minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Thursday.“Air links will boost tourism and help army personnel immensely. Soldiers lose three to four days of leave while travelling via Leh and waiting for onward movement,” Akhoon said, adding lack of direct flights has been holding back countless potential visitors.Akhoon stressed that air links are vital for the region, whose people now have to travel five to eight hours by road to reach the nearest airports in Leh and Srinagar.“No doubt Zojila Tunnel will improve road connectivity, but Kargil still needs a dedicated air link. Small aircraft operate in many areas of the Northeast. Flights from Kargil to New Delhi and Kargil to Srinagar can begin from the existing (defence) runway with small aircraft. This can pave the way for full air connectivity and to a full-fledged civil airport,” Akhoon said.In the talks with Shah, Akhoon and Haneefa also pushed for speeding up five hydroelectric projects and sought two new districts of Sankoo and Shakar-Chiktan. “These are among the most populated and oldest subdivisions in Kargil and meet all required criteria for creation of districts,” Akhoon said. The two should be included in an upcoming notification about five new districts announced in Aug 2024 by the Union home ministry. These are Ladakh, Zanskar and Drass in Kargil, and Sham, Nubra and Changthang in Leh.Akhoon and Haneefa also sought a 200-bed hospital for Kargil to ease the pressure on an existing 100-bed district facility, engineering colleges and an agricultural university. Another key demand was for a dedicated India Reserve Battalion (IRB) for Kargil to strengthen law and order and provide jobs.Akhoon said home minister Shah’s response to the demands, including air connectivity, was “very positive”.

Nayar Backs Rinku, Ramandeep to Step Up

Speaking at KKR’s pre-season press conference alongside Shane Watson, captain Ajinkya Rahane, and mentor Dwayne Bravo, head coach Abhishek Nayar expressed confidence in the team’s young core.“Andre Russell has been a flag bearer for this franchise for many years. What he’s done over the years in T20 cricket, it’s going to be hard to replicate. However, this is a season of opportunities. We have Rinku and Ramandeep who can step up and do something for the franchise, like they have before. There’s pressure when playing in the IPL but we want our players to be true to their potential and make a name for themselves. There are a lot of young cricketers in our setup, who can cement their name in the franchise’s legacy. Rinku has taken that responsibility for India and KKR, and Ramandeep’s also done it for us in the season when we won the championship. So, we’re hopeful that they can replicate those performances and create something special for this franchise.”The 37-year-old all-rounder will return to KKR as a power-hitting coach for IPL 2026, citing the physical demands of playing as the reason for hanging up his boots

Andre Russell’s Legacy at KKR (2014-2025)

Andre Russell enjoyed a legendary 12-year stint with Kolkata Knight Riders, during which he established himself as one of the most destructive all-rounders in IPL history. He also registered 12 half-centuries, with a highest score of 88, often turning matches single-handedly in the death overs. With the ball, Russell was equally impactful, picking up 122 wickets for KKR, making him one of the rare players to dominate both departments.Notably, Russell became one of only a few players in IPL history to achieve the rare double of 2000+ runs and 100+ wickets, highlighting his immense all-round value to the franchise over more than a decade.

Maharashtra: Thane sessions court acquits five in 2018 murder case, citing weak evidence | Mumbai News

Thane: A Thane sessions court acquitted five men accused in a 2018 kidnapping and murder case, observing that the prosecution failed to establish a complete chain of circumstantial evidence in the alleged “train throw” killing. Principal District and Sessions Judge S. B. Agrawal, in a judgment delivered on Wednesday, cleared Ravi Ashok Choudhary (37), Rajendraprasad Shivyadnya Tiwari (47), Sanjivkumar Upadhyay (38), Ashokkumar Shukla (40), and Ramashankar Tiwari (28) of all charges, including murder (Section 302) and criminal conspiracy (Section 120-B). According to the prosecution, Surendra Mishra was killed over his alleged relationship with the daughter of one of the accused. The court noted that the case rested entirely on circumstantial evidence and lacked direct testimony. The court also pointed out that key witnesses, including the victim’s girlfriend and nearby shopkeepers, did not support the prosecution’s version, and on medical evidence, court said the post-mortem findings were consistent with an accidental death.
