I think there’s a perception that we run a casual operation. It couldn’t be further from the truth. We run an informal operation, but the work is done, and the preparation is put in place,” McCullum said as quoted by the BBC.He explained that while the team environment may appear relaxed, it does not come at the cost of preparation or discipline.“There’s an environment that operates in a certain way, but because you are relaxed around that doesn’t mean the work is not being done. That’s just an attitude to try to allow guys to be as free as possible to implement the skills and tactics that you’re trying to achieve. Look, I make no apologies for running an informal, positive environment, but to call it a casual environment is not fair,” He added.McCullum also reserved special praise for England’s white-ball captain Harry Brook, who led the side in his first major tournament as skipper.“I’m incredibly proud of him. He’s grown immensely in the last couple of months under difficult circumstances,” McCullum said.“There’s a real identity to how Harry Brook’s England white-ball side is going to play. It’s hugely encouraging because a couple of months ago, you probably didn’t have that. He has done an amazing job,” he added.England’s semi-final against India ultimately became the highest-scoring fixture of the tournament, ending in a narrow seven-run defeat. Earlier in the competition, England had also lost to the West Indies cricket team and were pushed in challenging encounters against Scotland national cricket team, Italy national cricket team and Pakistan national cricket team.Despite the disappointment of the World Cup campaign and a recent 4-1 loss in The Ashes, McCullum is expected to continue in his position as England’s head coach.

HARIDWAR: Union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday inaugurated a state-level exhibition on “Nootan Nyaya Sanhita” organised by the Uttarakhand government at Bairagi Camp in Haridwar. The exhibition aims to spread awareness and highlight the effective implementation of the new criminal laws introduced by the Government of India, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA).The exhibition has been organised to familiarise citizens, advocates, police personnel, prosecution officers, and other stakeholders with the modern criminal justice system. Key provisions of the new laws are being presented through simple, visual, and interactive formats. These include mandatory time-bound investigation and filing of charge sheets, the provision of Zero FIR and e-FIR, compulsory forensic investigation in crimes punishable with more than seven years of imprisonment, recognition of electronic and digital evidence, and stronger legal provisions for crimes against women and children.It is noteworthy that Uttarakhand has ranked first in the country in the effective implementation of the new laws, such as the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The exhibition will remain open to the public until 9 March.Earlier in the day, Shah also inaugurated a development exhibition at Bairagi Camp in Haridwar, showcasing the achievements of the Uttarakhand government. He visited various stalls and reviewed the exhibits highlighting the state’s progress.The exhibition is based on the development initiatives undertaken by the state government over the past four years under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. It highlights major works related to infrastructure development, strengthening of road connectivity, expansion of healthcare services, reforms in the education sector, investment promotion, tourism development, preservation of religious and cultural heritage, and development of border areas.Several important and historic decisions taken by the state government have also been showcased as part of the exhibition.

US President Donald Trump on Saturday hosted a group of Latin American and Caribbean leaders for what the White House called the “Shield of the Americas” summit, a gathering aimed at strengthening security cooperation and countering organised crime and migration in the Western Hemisphere.The meeting comes as the Trump administration seeks to reassert Washington’s influence in the region while dealing with multiple global crises, including the conflict with Iran and tensions in the Middle East, according to the Associated Press.

The summit brings together leaders from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guyana, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay and Trinidad and Tobago, among others. However, major regional powers such as Brazil and Mexico are not participating, AFP reported.The event is being hosted at the Trump National Doral, the US president’s personal resort in Miami, Florida.The “Shield of the Americas” initiative reflects what the White House describes as a tougher approach to regional security under Trump’s foreign policy, which seeks to counter drug cartels, curb illegal migration and push back against China’s growing economic influence in the Americas.Defence secretary Pete Hegseth told regional leaders that previous administrations had neglected the Western Hemisphere, arguing that Washington had focused too much on other global theatres while ignoring challenges closer to home, news agency AP reported.According to Axios, the summit is part of the US president’s broader effort to reassert American influence in the region through what his administration calls the “Donroe Doctrine,” a modern interpretation of the historic Monroe Doctrine aimed at limiting the influence of rival powers such as China.Leaders attending the summit include Argentina’s Javier Milei, Ecuador’s Daniel Noboa and El Salvador’s Nayib Bukele, whose tough security policies have drawn attention across the region.
